Adventure awaits! Western NC and North GA abound with opportunities for recreation and relaxation. Set your sights on long-range views with visits to Bell Mountain in Hiawassee (20-minute drive) and Brasstown Bald (highest point in GA, 35-minute drive). Spend the day on Lake Chatuge with a boat or personal watercraft rental from a local marina or launch your own from nearby public access. Want to immerse yourself in nature in the Nantahala National Forest Bring your mountain bikes and ride the first-class trails at Jackrabbit Mountain (also great for hiking and dog-friendly) less than 5 minutes from the property. Fires Creek Recreation Area (25-minute drive) is another Western NC local favorite for hiking with picturesque views, swimming, and trout fishing. On the GA side, take a 30-minute drive to a waterfall hike via the High Shoals Falls Trail or make the 45-minute drive to Alpine Helen, GA for a taste of Bavaria in the Blue Ridge Mountains. Hungry and thirsty after a day of exploration Visit the outstanding local restaurants, wineries, and breweries in and around downtown Hayesville and Hiawassee for not-to-be-missed tastes of local flavor.

We love the #lakelife around here as well as the majestic mountains. So much to do and see right in town. We have a handy Welcome Book in the house full of Places to Eat, Things to Do, Shopping, Hiking and Waterfall Trails. Wineries abound; they’re everywhere! Or head over to Helen for tubing or zip lining.

There are several excellent boat rental places in the area! We use Lake Chatuge Marine, Young Harris Water Sports, Boundary Waters... The fellas will help you out! All kinds of water toys too like jet skis, standup paddle boards and kayaks.

Hike or drive to the apex of Bell Mountain, which overlooks Lake Chatuge below and provides picturesque mountain views. Shooting Creek Overlook is breathtaking. This was our fourth year staying at Red Door House. Wonderful stay as usual. The back porch of the main house, the yard, firepit, hot tub and dock are all highlights. Great to see a really nice new kayak. Only suggestions for improvement would be to add railing to the walkway leading out onto the dock (tricky for elderly parents as currently configured) and to add a gas grill. Great area for cooking outside but the current selection of grills is meh. Wonderful place overall!

If you’re looking for the perfect balance of comfort, adventure, and unforgettable views, this is the place. From the moment we arrived, we were blown away by the peaceful setting, thoughtful, decor, and the incredible list of amenities. The house itself is spacious, cozy, and clearly designed for both fun and relaxation. The master suite feels like a luxury tree with a soaking tub and large shower, while the bunk room was a hit with a teenagers, Full over full bunks with their own ensuite half bath! The kitchen had everything and more. A large dining table for big group meals, wine, fridge, Keurig, and even a screened in porch with a bed swing for lazy mornings with coffee and drinks in the evening.Outside is where this place truly shines. The private dock for our 24’ bowrider and 2 jet skis, kayaks, hot tub, fire pit, fishing (we brought poles) and a stone patio with outdoor lights, made it hard to leave. We all felt like it was our own private escape. The location is ideal, just minutes from Hiawassee and Haysville with plenty of exploring nearby: hiking trails, wineries, and charming, local restaurants. We especially loved hiking at High Shoals Falls, which was only 20 minutes away. The Holm strikes the perfect balance between upscale and down to, ideal for families, couples, or friends just looking to unwind and soak up the #lakelife. We can’t wait to come back!

We had family gather to celebrate 15th and 75th birthdays. The house with the cottage was perfect for our extended family gathering. Bedrooms were comfortable and set up for a large group. Mattresses were comfy. Screened porch was surprisingly the highlight for our family as was the long dinner table that allowed for all of us to eat together for every meal! We also enjoyed the hot tub and kayak.

My daughter graduated from Young Harris College this weekend. This property was perfect for our family to gather and celebrate in a beautiful and relaxed environment. Having the cottage allowed for everyone to have a private space in addition to the gathering space.

We were pleasantly surprised with the homes and all the extra space. We had 5 women cooking in 2 kitchens and had everything we needed. We had 10 people and could easily had many more. The views were amazing of the lake in the mornings and the evenings. The beds were comfortable and plenty of linens. We bought firewood and used the huge firepit down by the lake for smores. We had brought out own marshmallow sticks but didn't need them The home had everything you could think of. We will definitely come back this summer!

Perfect property for a local wedding. We loved the back porch the most. Grandparents enjoyed having their own (quiet) space. Highly recommend.
