Stayed Aug 18, 2025Our second visit to Rapfen Alm, and it continues to be my favourite place in the world. The views down and across the valley are mesmerising, and the sense of space quite wonderful.

Stayed May 29, 2023Wonderful trip with friends. Rapfen Alm was even better than expected. Comfortable for a two-family group of nine in a mountain house nearly 500 years old.

Stayed Dec 15, 2018Our family had visited the area many times, but had never been this high up the mountain to stay! The chalet is at 1379m - it’s about a 15 minute drive up winding roads from just opposite the Schloß Mittersill. You need winter tyres and the drive up can be slippery depending on the weather. One of our cars slid into the hill a couple of times - but was quick to get back on the road. Not for those afraid of windy snowy roads with no barriers! The barn is old - dating back to the 16th Century. It is modern with a load of TVS and internet (which was on and off - but generally ok). Everything worked well - and the owner was on call and on the two occasions we needed help, she was up within 30 minutes. To watch the sun rise down a long valley is magical. It’s an old building so the ceilings and beams are LOW - we had three brothers over 6’3” and we had many head banging moments! We would certainly return here - the downside being the long drive up the hill - but that was also what made the chalet so wonderfully magical and remote.

Stayed May 14, 2018Staying at Rapfen Alm was the highlight of our trip. We wished we had stayed longer. The chalet is in a perfect location with beautiful mountain views, great hiking trails, and close to Mittersill. The chalet was extremely clean and comfortable. The Lemberger family was very nice and helpful. We can't wait to return!!
