This is our second year at this house. it could use some AC. but there is room for all of us to have space and do our own thing or hang to together. great location for hiking. neighbors sell wood which was awesome. bring your own darts and cue sticks tho. will probably be back next year thanks
The Happy Hideaway had a great location for many activities for our family trip. We had a pleasant surprise of a new jacuzzi that wasn't in the pictures that added to our family fun in addition to the game room with pool table and dart board. This was a great location to go see the Ice Castles, do a winter sleigh ride, eat at Woodstock Brewery, visit Loon Mountain, and Chutters Candy Shoppe. Some items that need to be addressed is the dishwasher was not working, shoveling of the back deck to access the fire pit. jacuzzi, and grill were not done at all while we were there. We were also disappointed that we were told we needed to provide our own firewood for the indoor fireplace after we had arrived. Overall, the place was clean and had a great amount of space for our family of 8 and we would stay there again the next time we go up to the mountains!
Nice house but no true customer service we called close to dozen times to get help and assistance with our power nothing only lies about someone coming then we were told The repair man had a flat tire but still no one was sent to our vacation rental to assist us with the power outage. We went online to see if there is any power outages in there there were none we were lied to was no power outage but somehow the house lost power for six hours we had to figure it out on our own plus one bathroom with no power ever working I feel like this company is almost fake or something
This house was very cool, loved the game room and tvs kids loved it and all the games/legos. I would give 5 but one issue was it was very hot during our stay and there were no ACs and only 2 fans. (One very small) .AC unit in master did nothing, my wife and I had to sleep in twin beds the first night, I highly recommend spending a few hundred to get ACs.
We selected this property because the on-line listing said it was air conditioned and a member of our party has a respiratory condition that requires A/C. Upon our arrival we found that only one room, an upstairs bedroom, was air conditioned. The rest of the property is not air conditioned. In addition, the mini-split unit in that bedroom was not working. It was only blowing hot air. I called the property manager everyday but no one ever arrived to service the unit. After several days the member of our party who requires the air conditioning and her husband were forced to return home. The daytime temperatures were in the mid 80's and cooler at night but it was impossible to leave the windows open since the property is located just 60 feet from Route 3, a main north/south road that carries many large trucks and motorcycles, and is very noisy. Listing this property as air conditioned is deceptive.
This is a lovely, clean home with many comforts. Unfortunately, the dishwasher was broken. We figured this out and contacted Vacasa on the 2nd day of our stay. They responded promptly by text acknowledging the issue, but never followed up or fixed it. There was only a single dish towel and no dish drainer, so we had to go out and buy stuff, and to wash dishes for the entire week. We also rented during a hot spell, and although there is an air conditioner, it is a wall unit in the master bedroom, and just capable of cooling that room, where elderly parents slept. Kids slept in lower level singles, which were reasonably comfortable, but the other upstairs bedroom was uncomfortably hot for several days until nighttime temps finally dipped. Had to sleep over covers with multiple fans on high to get through the night. My only other significant issue was only 6 dining room chairs, with no other appropriate chairs around to supplement. My daughter sat on an ottoman with an extra sofa pillow on top of it for meals. The kitchen has the essentials, but is otherwise somewhat sparsely equipped. There is a great electric skillet, though, which is very helpful for breakfasts. The fridge has an ice dispenser, but is not hooked up to water, so you have to make ice with trays the old fashioned way. Consider buying bags of ice if you plan to use a lot. Otherwise, it was a nice stay. Lots of space. Nicely renovated with great bathrooms. Enjoyed the game room. BBQ worked well. Made s'mores over the fire pit (there was no wood when we got there, but you can walk a couple houses down and buy a small bundle of wood, and also see their ducks and chickens). Power went out for a short while on the day we left, which, according to a neighbor, is not too rare. North Woodstock downtown and Lincoln are both very close, with some good places to eat. Cascade Park was a nice surprise in the middle of North Woodstock, with a sort of natural water slide over granite rocks.
We vacationed at the house over a 3 day weekend in March. The house is spectacular - so much space and fun for all! My children enjoyed all the large screen TVs that was easily connected to our Disney+, Netflix, etc accounts while sitting in the plush leather movie recliners. Adults and children loved the pool table, darts, and games in the house. Location was awesome-a quick 10 minute drive to Loom for skiing, groceries, restaurants, and 5 minute drive to quaint downtown Woodstock with restaurants, general store, and bakery. The house has it all! We are already looking forward to our return trip-book us please!!
We had two families (4 adults, 3 kids). There’s plenty of space, amenities, parking and easy access to the ski resorts nearby. The house was well stocked with anything you can possibly need. Seeing as though we had two families it was nice to have multiple bathrooms so we all had our own. We really enjoyed being able to come back to the house after a long day at the mountain and having entertainment for all, whether that be the pool table, dart board, card table or the games for the kids. We will definitely be back, maybe next time without the kids!
