Gloucester, Massachusetts
This is a classic Gloucester home, nothing fancy, more like a home away from home for your family. In fact, my family often uses it during the off-season which is one reason I insist this home stay SMOKE-FREE. The view is lovely and on many days the freshest breeze flows through the windows. Good Harbor Beach is less than a mile away. The house has two floors, the bedrooms and bathroom might be smaller than what you are used to. The beds can accommodate up to 5 people. We have an airbed and a cot for people beyond that.
This house is at the dead end of a quiet block, perfect for children to play safely. The driveway has two parking spaces. The small backyard is private, nice for listening to the birds while you relax. There is a dining table with an umbrella, as well as a bench.
Our main floor has an enclosed porch, dining area, fully equipped kitchen with a breakfast bar, and a living room with a flat screen tv that is hooked up to a Roku. The three bedrooms and bathroom are upstairs. They are small and cozy and the beds have firm, comfortable mattresses. Two rooms have Queen-sized beds and the third has a Twin. Each bedroom has an air conditioner. There is a cot and a blow-up bed if you need more places to sleep. We can also supply a Pack'nPlay.
You will be staying in a lovely, quiet neighborhood overlooking a wide expanse of salt marsh near the beach, yet is close to downtown. (This is a neighborhood where people live and raise their families. Please do not book with us if you are looking for more of a party atmosphere). The house sits at the very end of a dead end street. A short drive to the top of the street takes you to the main road to downtown Gloucester or Rockport. Downtown Gloucester is a five minute drive, and downtown Rockport is a little under ten minutes away. Both have many art galleries and dramatic coastal scenery. Gloucester, a historic fishing community, offers many excellent restaurants and bars, most with a seafood emphasis, an extremely scenic and classic working harbor, and a wide range of arts galleries and shops. Rockport is a much smaller and quieter town with a centralized village of shops and a few restaurants. The dramatic beauty of Good Harbor Beach, one of Cape Ann's most popular beaches, is just past the salt marsh behind the house. It's about a fifteen minute walk, or a five minute drive. There are also 3 supermarkets and a CVS within a 5 minute drive. Good Harbor Beach is 1 mile away (15 minute walk or a 5 minute drive).
If you want to arrive before check-in time, let me know and I'll do my best to accommodate you. I live on the block with my wife and family, and we are available to our guests should they need us.
Just what we were looking for - safe, clean, quiet, and our hosts had anticipated any needs that we might have as travelers.
Great hideaway, easy access to beach. House is well furnished, has everything you need and everything in great condition. Heather is very accommodating, friendly and responsive. We really enjoyed our stay , just hope we could have stayed longer.
This was a lovely home for families. It was great being at the end of a dead end road for my kids to play. The house was clean and inviting. Communication with the owners was great and so helpful to find fun things to do with small kids. We would definitely stay here again!!
We really enjoyed the stay at this property. Older home, nicely updated and stocked with the necessities. Clean and comfortable. Good location for week's stay. Within walking distance to harbor. Quick response by owners. Would stay here again if we did the Boston area again. Would absolutely recommend. Not fancy, and not advertised as such. Just a nice place to get together and spend time with family.
Perfect base for our trip to the Boston area. House was immaculate and very quiet. Heather was very responsive to our needs. Would definitely recommend. The only recommendation would be perhaps consider more seating in the living area. We watched a movie and it was tight for our family of 5 (including 3 teens).
We came to visit our son who goes to college in the area. The house was as advertised- great stay!
I would highly recommend this place ! Very clean and adorable. The hosts were very accommodating. We had all we could ever need and more. I would definitely stay here again
My biggest impression upon entering this house was how clean it was, and how well thought out everything is, from the cart to bring to the beach, to the location of recycling, the coffee maker station, to extra amenities in the kitchen and bathrooms. Every need was well thought through. For my family, the location was perfect. It is situated in a neighborhood, but walkable and accessible to Good Harbor and downtown. Host was very available and extremely willing to help! Thank you, Heather.
We stayed through a rainy weekend with 2 adult children. The house far exceeded our expectations. The owner lives across the street and was available online for any help we wanted. It overlooks a tidal marsh on a dead end street - no traffic. The kitchen was well stocked with utensils and coffees and teas. The location is close to everything - groceries, shops. restaurants, even the beach is about a 15 minute walk. We spent one afternoon in Salem. Another morning at Halibut Point State Park which is the site of an old Granite Quarry overlooking the bay with many hiking trails down to the bay. The house has a great amount of kids' things / toys. Also has a beach wagon, beach chairs and beach toys. We did not use it because of the rain but we plan on returning for a summer weekend.
