The house is spacious (1400 square feet) Two bedroom two bathroom.) Very large living/dining area. All upscale furniture. Large deck with lots of comfortable seating.
What—Never heard of Pass-A-Grille Beach Well, then, before we tell you about our house we’ll have to educate you about the first beach community on the Gulf of Mexico to be developed as a weekend get-away location for successful Tampa and Saint Petersburg residents.
The area is a small spit of land merely 31 blocks long and one block wide at the south end of St. Petersburg Beach, starting just south of the historic Don Cesar Hotel. Pass-A-Grille got its name from Cuban fishermen, called “Grillers,” who would camp on the island to smoke their catch of fish before heading home. As you traveled through the pass you could see their fires, hence the name Pass-A-Grille.
Pass-A-Grille is NOT your typical Florida “beachy” beach town with hotels, motels, swimsuit stores and fast food stores wall-to-wall, If you are looking for this, you’ll have to go further north, past the Don Cesar. Pass-A-Grille is more sedate with a convenient grocery, quaint shops, inviting bars and restaurants, and a more relaxed style. And, everything is within easy walking distance, because the blocks are short.
22 blocks of beachfront and walkway a few steps to a nearby dune walkover. Once you cross the dune you’ll be presented with a wide, sandy beach stretching in both directions. It's like having your own private beach. There are never big crowds. A locals secret.
You’ll find some good bars, restaurants, and ice cream shops on this (the west) side. The Hurricane Restaurant is one of the most popular places, and you’ll get a great view while sipping a drink at the third-floor bar. By the way, there are no high-rise hotels on Pass-A-Grille—there are a couple of 7-story condos, but that’s it—
Or, walk one block to the other (east) side of the island, where you can dip a line in the water, arrange a fishing charter or scenic cruise, or merely stroll along the marine sites to some rather excellent restaurants. .
Less than an hour from the many attractions in Tampa and St. Petersburg. Our house is 2 blocks from the southern end of the island, and as close to “on the beach” as you can get. To the west there is the Gulf of Mexico, the beach, the street, and our house.

I also have a one bedroom apartment above the garage. Check it out if I don't have availability here or you need a smaller place. #998630. Both are monthly rentals only.
Great spot! Amazing deck! Fully equipped with quality furnishings and linens. We will be back.
We thoroughly enjoyed our month long stay in this charming house right across from the Gulf of Mexico. Watching the sunset from the deck and/or the living/dining room was amazing. Several family members visited during the month and they loved it.
What a wonderful little vacation spot! Cottage was a exactly as I had expected from owners description. Great beach for those who can't walk long distances in loose sand, just enough beach! Easy walking distance to good restaurants and shops. Short drive (or free shuttle) to major beach shops and grocery. Enjoyed every sunset!!
Simply the best location for staying at a beach house. Fully stocked with everything you need for a for a great vacation. Celebrate the sunsets from the beautiful patio or just walk across to the beach to enjoy. If you love the beach this is the spot ! Katie is a gracious host. She is available for anything you need. We hope to be back soon. Thank you Katie
Stayed week of Christmas 2021. Well stocked house - very pretty view for nightly sunsets and an enjoyable and comfortable stay! Bed and pillows very comfortable which is rare. Owner helped bring in a few items we ordered in advance bottles water etc. which was really helpful. Beach has a lot of broken shells so shoes are needed, not much depth to beach but nice and a good distance for walking - I walked to the Don Cesar hotel on the beach several times. If you’re looking for that powder white sand this is not the area - which is interesting since both north and south you can find them but it may be all the shells and their color. A house is just starting to be built an arms length from this one, so might want to check on that as they started construction very early in the morning the first half of our trip and then they stopped starting Christmas Day. (Owner had no idea they would be starting work so no fault there). So we did go an hour south and stayed one night at the Ritz in Sarasota, for a change and to sleep in. Also there lots of boutique shopping and nicer restaurants in St Armand’s Circle so it was a nice compliment to being “away from it all.” Only one nicer restaurant in PAG (Grace) a few blocks away (are there twice). So that’s something to note if you like fine dining as it’s mostly flip flop style places/bar food in PAG. So you’ll need to drive. All the people we met were really nice around the area, and there’s a few cute stores on 8th St which is where Grace is, and seemed to be the little stores in the area are as well. Highly recommend local place, Shaner’s market, it is a couple minute car ride or a 15-20 minute walk away - groceries, meat and seafood market, deli with (boar’s head) and basics. No need to cook breakfast and have to clean up as they make great breakfast sandwiches that are excellent quality and very inexpensive. Have fun!
Great property, lots of nice touches. Love the area! All in all it was a great stay!
Everything was perfect! The location and deck were perfect for the world class sunsets. The house was clean and organized with labels for everything in the kitchen. We hope to return soon.
I can’t say enough about this place! It’s beautiful inside and out, amazing view, and great hosts! You’ll never want to leave! Will definitely be going back!
Property is just as described and has everything you need. Fabulous location. The patio with a view of the beach is the icing on the cake
Katie and her team made us feel amazingly welcome and even bumped into her during our stay. The house matched the pictures and was super clean and well equipped for our week. The beach across the street is filled with shells and sand dollars and was great for swimming and sun bathing. Had I not been too shy and looked in the beach closet much earlier, I might have found the mask and snorkel she has for use (it is in a pouch) by the house occupants and could have come home with some fancy shells. Tricia, Amy, and I really enjoyed watching the sunset from the patio with some adult beverages and small talk.....we had an amazing time. If your week is open, I would highly recommend this beautiful home. Thank you Katie!
