Sedona, Arizona
Step into "Call of the Canyon" and you will quickly realize you have found a special place. Generous windows give view to the peaceful stream and soaring canyon. Located in the Coconino National Forest, next to West Fork Oak Creek trail you will find plenty to explore in your own backyard. Walk down the steps to the creek and fish for trout or just relax and enjoy the scenery from the deck and try out the new Weber gas grill.
LIVING ROOM/DINING area/KITCHEN
The house has 3 levels. The main level opens up to a fully equipped kitchen and living room. Within the kitchen is a dining table with seating for 4 plus 3 bar stools for counter-top eating. There is also a washer/dryer within a closet off the kitchen.
The living room has ample seating to enjoy views of the creek and soaring canyon. There is also a working fireplace within the living room.
DECK AREA
Off the main level is the deck- a perfect place for morning coffee or an afternoon cocktail. The deck is accessed through a sliding screen door off the living room. We have two cocktail sized tables that can be put on the deck. There are 4 tall chairs and 2 bar stools that can be used on the deck as well. We also have a grill for your use.
BEDROOMS/BATHROOMS
The house has a total of three bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
The Master Bedroom has a king bed with an en- suite bathroom and double vanity. There is also a private door entry to this bedroom. The master is located on the lower level and does have generous window views to the creek.
The Guest Bedroom has a queen bed with an en-suite bathroom and double vanity. There is also a private door entry to this bedroom. It too has generous windows with views to the creek. This bedroom is located on the lower level.
The Loft Bedroom is located on the upper level. Natural light fills the bedroom. The loft area does not have its own bathroom.
COMPLIMENTARY WIFI and CABLE
We do have wifi. We cannot guarantee that it will be perfect 100% of the time as the location/canyon signal is sometimes intermittent.
Please note that due to the location of this property and the environmental benefits gained we have opted to use Sun-Mar composting toilets. Operating the toilets is not difficult. You do not use water. Its a composting system in which you use peat moss and turn a drum.
LOCATION
Oak Creek Canyon is approximately 12 miles long and 2000 feet deep. Although private and out of town, Sedona is just 15 minutes away or 9.5 miles. This is a well-appointed house. Bedrooms are spacious and comfortable. There is a stairway off the kitchen eating area that leads down to the 2 bedrooms on the lower level. Both have windows with views of the creek, as well as doors that access outside at creek level. One of these bedrooms has a triangular window that does not have a window covering - it needs one. No bedrooms on the main level. The loft over the main level is the third bedroom. Windows on all levels provide amazing views - photos are accurate. Host is very responsive and helpful. The house is about 15-20 minutes from downtown Sedona and 20-25 minutes from the nearest full-size grocery store. The road up from Sedona is scenic and winding. Reflective markers all along make night driving easier. You will enter the West Fork Trail head to access the driveway. After entering the trail head, the driveway is a hairpin turn immediately on the right. Signage was minimal, but the driveway was well-marked by orange construction barrels. GPS was accurate. WiFi at the house is slow. Compost toilets are manageable and did not give off any unpleasant odors at all. They sit up higher than a standard toilet, but there is a step stool in front of each plus a grab bar to assist. Hiked Devil's Bridge which was a highlight - perfect hiking weather, no crowds. Booked a Pink Jeep rim tour which was fun - highly recommend. Visited the Grand Canyon which is 1.75 hrs from the house and 100% worth it. Great trip!
Thank you so much for letting us stay at your place. It was very nice. Thank you, John.
Can’t say enough about this beautiful home and its location. The house is spacious had everything we needed. We hung out on the deck most of the nights and the sounds from the creek made it that much better. Initially was hesitant about the compost toilets but they are easy to manage and we didn’t even mind them. We can’t wait to return!
I honestly can’t believe this place exists let alone the fact I get to rent it! This may be the most beautiful place for stayed at in the US.
Great house and privacy.
The house is great and it truly maximizes the location and views of the beautiful creek spot. In spite of being close to such a popular attraction, it feels like you're all alone there. The compost toilets weren't everybody's favorite, but What inconvenience they introduced was minimal compared to the wonderful experience had in every other aspect of staying there.
If you want to wake up to geogeous canyon views and the sound of the creek just feet from the house, this place is for you! Only steps from one of the most popular trail heads and minutes from Sedona, this house is perfectly located for your daily excursions. The house fit our family of 4 perfectly. The owners were very responsive to our questions. I would definitely rent this property again the next time we come to the area.
We loved staying at the Oak Creek Canyon house. It is a magical place. We could hear the creek below and the setting is gorgeous. The house is wonderfully designed to let guests spread out and relax while taking in the beautiful forest views from the zillion windows located throughout the home. The canyon is also a wonderful getaway from tourist-packed Sedona. We hope to return in the spring, summer or fall so we can enjoy some of the nearby hikes. The host was wonderful, quickly resolving any issues.
Home was clean, composting toilets were an adventure (lol), location was BEAUTIFUL….one of our favorite stays!
Good price. Great property. Compost toilets difficult for people with disability. I understand why but just need advance description of how tall and small step for access
This house was beautiful. The creek in the back is a great place for the kids to enjoy! Short drive to Sedona to shop and hike!
Another great trip. This property has become a family favorite. The lack of drinking water is a little inconvenient however Harding Spring is just 5 minutes up the road. We just took our 1 gallon water jugs up there and refilled them every day or so. This is what families who camp on the various campgrounds along 89a typically do. The spring water is delicious and safe.
This is a wonderful property and the pics don’t do it justice. A few things to note: -It can be difficult to get in and out of. The entrance is in a state park and the park entrance was barricaded off on our visit. We had to drive up the shoulder on the wrong side of the road to get behind the barricade. Once in the park it’s a tight squeeze between the camp hosts water trailer and the road. Doable, just go slow and be aware. -As mentioned in the listing, the compost toilets leave a lot to be desired but aren’t awful. Just come with the expectations set. All in all I would definitely rent again and recommend it.
Beautiful location, but it was very tough getting to and from the home on many occasions. The state park had up barricades on 89A almost everyday and it was tough finding a place to turn around in order to put ourselves in a position to enter the park. Entering the driveway was sometimes an issue as well, especially if there was a lot of traffic at the park. The compost toilets worked out ok, but for my shorter family members they had some difficulties. Adding grab-bars might help.
Very comfortable space with direct access to the water was perfect for a wind down after the wedding we attended and my morning cup of coffee
