There's no better place to experience downtown than here.
Blending modern art deco and classic Spanish style architecture is the aptly named “Pistachio House” for its vibrant use of color. Designed by local architect Jeff Shelton, known for imaginative interpretations of the Spanish Colonial Revival, this house won the rarely-given George Washington Smith Award. Three large Bedrooms offer adjoining Baths in a home that fully embodies the indoor/outdoor living concept. With seven different finished outdoor terrace areas, all complete with fire pits, there’s always a place to enjoy the cool ocean breeze and a fresh margarita.

Great location, very clean well appointed, kitchen was well stocked, and everything worked There was a concierge there to meet us and give us a tour when we arrived. Also, an elevator to help with luggage and stairs. Each bedroom had its own bathroom with a private shower. The location, was one block from the 101 freeway and the train station so we could hear traffic pretty much all night long and the train horn periodically. Quiet time was said to be 9:00 PM but there are night clubs in the vicinity and you could hear that music and the bass until the wee hours. The concierge didn’t seem to be 100% familiar with the property as she didn’t know where the third bedroom was, we found it after she left. It turned out to be a separate apartment behind the garage on the ground floor. The other two were on the second floor and you could access the east bedroom by going through the west bedroom or using the out-door stairs or elevator. The west bedroom had a stairway to the third floor which was the main living area which didn’t have a door so privacy in the west bedroom was limited. The elevator was a little weird to work and was very slow so we ended up using mostly the stairs. The parking garage, has a very tight turn to get in because of cars that park across the alleyway. I had to back in because of the other cars that were in the way. All in all, we had a great time and the pistachio house suited our needs perfectly but did have an eclectic layout and was a bit noisy.
Great
The house is as amazing as listed. The layout has lots of stairs but the multiple patios were great to hangout on. The location was in the heart of State street and only 5-10 minute walk to the beach. Only issue was late at night you can hear music from the bars on state street but the house offers speakers in each room that can be used as a sound machine. I recommend this house and plan to stay again if ever in Santa Barbra
We enjoyed our stay at the property. The property manager met us in person for check in and gave us a walkthrough of the entire house. They were very responsive throughout our stay. The garage is enormous, the interior and exterior living spaces are well appointed and well maintained. There is no a/c and it got a bit hot as we stayed during a heat wave but with all the windows open we were just fine. The location on State Street and the Funk Zone is amazing. The only item that I don’t believe is mentioned in the listing: the home is accessed through the alley behind state street and shares the building structure of 2 retail stores that face State Street. As such, the 2nd floor outdoor area/first floor stairwell has doors that lead into those State Street businesses. I assume they didn’t have A/C either because the businesses kept their doors open during the day. The businesses are instructed never to come onto the patio/into the stairwell, but if their doors are open, you’re looking into/hearing a tattoo parlor (first floor) and body piercing location (second floor).
Nice indoor & outdoor spaces. Fully stocked kitchen and fun overall design! Location was perfect for us. Only compliant was elevator was out of order for whole trip & this house has 3 floors- a lot of steep stairs to carry up luggage, food & wedding dresses!! Would also note 3rd bedroom is completely separate from the rest of the house with no outdoor space - definitely adult only home
We were in Santa Barbara for a wedding, and the Pistachio House could not have been more perfect for our stay! The proximity to the beach and State Street allows you to experience the breadth of Santa Barbara beauty, all within a very short walk. Amazing!
Amazing stay in an even more amazing home. This property is a must visit.
Perfect location and beautiful home!
Dreamy property in the heart of Santa Barbara. Prefect for couples or friends getaway. Close to shopping, Funk Zone, dining, & beach. Would definitely stay again.
Getaway weekend with girlfriends. Great indoor/outdoor space. There is no access to a bathroom in the house without wandering through someone’s bedroom so make sure you all know each other well. Difficult to use the top floor kitchen and living room after people go to bed on the floor below. The house was beautiful and the location was great so for that I would stay at this property again.
This is a fun house right in the middle of bustling State Street. Be aware it's NOISY (traffic, trains) so bring ear plugs, but it's bright and comfortable.
Beautiful and so arty. Wouldn’t change a thing
We loved the decor, the cleanliness and the thoughtfulness of our hosts. It was great to be right downtown, near so many restaurants, bars and shops. A couple things to note: 1) This is not a great property in rainy weather (not usually a problem in SB), and 2) I wouldn't feel comfortable with younger children here. Enjoy!
Ample space and privacy for 3 couples. Nice to park the car in garage and walk everywhere. The kitchen was well appointed.
This property was a lot of fun to stay in. I enjoyed it’s whimsical design, how centrally located it was, how well stocked the kitchen was as well as other little necessities. It was a true pleasure to stay in and I would stay there again.
Good location near the downtown area. Entry is in an alley and we got there with a night club next door blaring music . Got super hot and A/C would have been nice. Kids got bit by bugs in house. Fridge was not working. Nice big garage for any suv.
