The drive to Yacht Basin or Kim's Marina on Canyon Ferry Lake is 30 minutes through the scenic Helena-Lewis and Clark National Forest.
Historic downtown Helena is just a short drive. You will find restaurants, shops (Pan Handler is a favorite), art galleries, historic St. Helena Cathedral, Saturday Farmer’s Market, and several micro-breweries that serve food, and excellent beer. Go a bit further to the west of town and enjoy a soak in the Broadwater Hot Springs. Since you are in the Capitol city of Montana, why not take in the beautiful landscaped capitol building, the Charlie Russell Museum, or enjoy the historic tour of Helena via the Last Chance Tour Train
In the spring, summer, and fall take advantage of the proximity to the scenic trout creek canyon hiking trail (15-minute drive). This canyon trail has only a 500-foot elevation, so it is an easy hike for hikers of all ages. The area is a perfect place to spot wildlife. In August, the annual York 38 special bike race occurs. You can cheer on the racers as they ride by. York fest and the famous duck races happen in September which support the local fire department. (This is a lot of fun!) Purchase your Duck race tickets at the York bar and the best part is . . . you do not need to be present to win!
Missouri River, Hauser Lake, and Canyon Ferry Lake are close by and offer fishing, boating, kayaking, sunning, paddle boarding and general water fun. Horseback riding is available close by too.

Our family of 5 had an absolutely wonderful time at this property in the Big Belt Mountains. Truely a place that allows you to breath and relax while soaking in the stunning environment. The creek that runs by the house is amazing. The house was very comfortable and had plenty of space for my wife and our three teenagers. We shed some tears when we had to leave but hopeful we can make it back someday. Easy ride down to Helena. Highly recommend!
Very clean and all the amenities were perfect. The creek running through the yard kept the kids busy non stop during the time we were at the home.
The house was just as described and really well equipped and furnished and very comfortable. The entire family enjoyed our stay and the scenery and location and hearing the creek water are very relaxing!
We had such an amazing time on our family getaway in the Big Belt Mountains. The property was as advertised, and exceptionally clean. Just for clarity, there is no AC in the house so sleeping at night was a little warm but otherwise, it was a great trip!
Beautiful house and property, creek right outside the house was very relaxing to hear while sitting on the deck. Kitchen was well stocked, and the house was very comfortable. Would rent again
This propert is perfectly located for a quiet get away. About half an hour to Helena, 20 minutes to Golf, 10 minutes to a small beach and picnic park, or 2 minutes to jeep trails up into the hills. The large deck facing the sun and the creek is amazing. A few repairs and updates (A/C in the bedrooms at least, a second TV upstairs, patio door repair, and maybe a couple of beach mats. None of the above affected our enjoyment of the property that much however. The owner was very resposinve and helpful.
The place was more than we had expected, very peaceful and quiet. The area was beautiful, and the weather was very cooperative.
Beautiful location and amenities. Would recommend to anyone looking for a lovely peaceful stay.
Absolutely stunning OASIS!!! This home is well kept, peaceful and fully stocked with everything you would want in your own home. If you decide to book a stay in this beautiful home, for your added comfort, I recommend that you bring your own pillow then stay as long as you possibly can, because it will be hard to leave!
We loved the property, the peacefulness, the natural beauty. The house was comfortable and spacious and the kids had plenty of room to play both inside and out. Our only suggestion would be to get rid of the scale in the bathroom! Lol!
Stayed here for our daughter’s graduation from Carroll College with our family. The property was clean, exceptionally well stocked and very comfortable. The scenery was nothing short of fantastic! We could not have asked for anything more from our stay at Trout Creek. Book this one! You will not regret it!
