The space:
The spacious farmhouse is located in the charming countryside of Dowagiac, Michigan. It’s 2,294 square feet with 3 bedrooms, 2 full bathrooms, a large dream of a kitchen and a four-season hot tub. She is 130 years old and sits on 3 private acres surrounded by hundreds of acres of farmland, making it ideal for lawn activities, afternoon picnics, fireside chats, and star gazing.
The house is older but in fine shape, having been sturdily built more than a century before and carefully updated in 2022. It’s a home surrounded by country life filled with antiques and comfortable furnishings that are imperfectly matched. Pink walls, green cabinets, block print fabrics, mismatched china and fine finishes welcome you to celebrate benchmark moments.
A Dutch door leads you to the wrap around porch where you can watch the sunset from the porch swing. The chefs kitchen was made for mastering pie making in the Italian double oven and filling pitchers of ice tea in the farmstead sink. The first floor French doors lead you to the back deck where you will find the 4-season, 5 person hot tub and the propane fed grill.
The show-stopping pink living room has a 43" Roku TV and amazing sunset views. We saved and refinished the original swing doors, which can be fully closed allowing privacy to anyone using the rooms queen sleeper sofa. There is a stunning full bathroom on the first floor with hand-painted English tiles in the tub/shower space. A stacking washer dryer unit is also located in this space. The king bedroom on the first floor, has original 8' pocket doors and sunset views from the bed.
The narrow farmhouse stairs lead you to the second floor where you will find the primary bedroom. Decorated with a king poster bed, this room also has a large sitting space with a gas fireplace and private Roku television. The connected full bathroom with its large walk in shower and original claw foot tub is across the hall from the second bedroom with two-twin beds. There is also a dedicated work table in the landing ideal for opening your computer and turning on your out-of-office reply.
Every room has large windows overlooking the countryside and the bedrooms have privacy window shades.
Guest access:
You will have access to the spacious farmhouse (excluding utility area, basement, and storage rooms) 4-season hot tub, all 3 acres the property sits on as well as the potting shed-outbuilding that houses the lawn games and a vintage finds shop.
