Drive through the Redwood Hollow to meet the pygmies pines and relax in this peaceful and gorgeous Redwood home. Get an annual pass from Anchor Bay Beach, just a mile away and bring your car, friends, dogs or kayaks to play. Gualala is just a few more miles for eateries, grocery stores or fuel. We are kid friendly and there's plenty of area to wander or explore!
The space
The two upstairs rooms are huge and a great place to snooze or watch a movie. Everything in this house except for a few antiques is bran spanking new and selected for your comfort and relaxation. The living room is also large and spacious. The full kitchen has everything you need to cook and a large gas stove. The BBQ is new and full of propane. The beauty of this home and property is the actual volume of open space in the home and outside. The property is 4.25 acres and you can walk down the driveway in the redwoods and look down into the hollow below.
Guest access
There is a grassy lawn in front of the house to kick your shoes off and get some sun or you can jump on your computer with fast WIFI. The laundry room has Electrolux washer and dryer and if you need more towels there are plenty in there. If you want to head to the beach, go south a mile and turn left to Anchor Bay Beach. An annual pass will get your car, kids, kayaks and dogs into the parking lot. There are also plenty of places to fish on the Gualala River. If you want fresh fish or crab during crab season, you can let me know and we will see what our fisherman friends have just caught! This depends on weather of course!
Other things to note
Watch a lizard in the warm morning sun travel up one of the giant rocks in the front yard or watch a humming bird drink nectar from one of the lavender plants nestled in the rocks. Relax outside on the wrap around deck. Have a hot tub in the cool evening fog right up on the deck just steps from the back door. Snuggle up with a throw blanket and watch a movie in the living room. It is warm here in the day, but cool at night. Beautiful foggy mornings to have coffee or breakfast, while you wake up for your day.
Cozy and comfy place. Well equipped kitchen, bathrooms, and laundry room. Nice hot tub fits two, heat is easy to adjust to desired temperature. Upstairs master bedroom has nice nooks for little children/grandchildren. Open living room space for little ones to run around and is pretty childproof.
This place was great. When we arrived, it was super clean. The owner left us some fresh eggs and bread. The beds were comfy, the kitchen was large, and had every plate and utensil that we needed for our Thanksgiving feast. We had 7 people and 2 dogs, and there was plenty of room for all of us. Highly recommend this property. Can’t wait to go again when the weather is warmer, and the pool is open.
We had a great stay! The house was spacious and clean. The sheets and towels all smelled very fresh. We stayed for 5 days and there was enough room for us each to have our own space when we needed it. We took our dog and the large private yard was a huge bonus! There were a lot of little touches throughout the house that were really thoughtful and appreciated. We were hoping for a relaxing weekend and it was just what we needed ??
Loved being able to see so many stars at night. The pool and hot tub were just what we needed. The house is lovely too, and the hosts were extremely responsive. (Thanks again for the fresh eggs, bread, and tomatoes -- yum!)
Very comfortable and convenient to the coast. It was really peaceful with all the amenities you would ever need. Its dog friendly and our pup loved the open spaces to run around. Host even provided farm fresh eggs and local baked bread! Coffee, etc. Nice hot tub and enjoyed watching the stars at night.
Our stay here was great! We were greeted with fresh sourdough bread from Point Arena and fresh laid eggs waiting for our arrival from our hosts whom were great by the way. The house is very clean and well stocked and kid and pet friendly. The location is up the hill in a very quiet location not far from many beaches and things to do including easy access to the Gualala River just at the south end of Gualala, and Point Arena is a short drive to the north. We also got some visitors from the local wildlife, we were greeted one morning to a couple of quail perched on the rock in front of the house, and three deer on the lawn area. Even for a holiday weekend, the places we visited in the area were not crowded or loud. We have this place definitely saved for future visits, and the hosts are making improvements too, new flooring is going in soon and they are in progress of installing an above ground pool. Be sure to also pay Ozzy the cat a visit at the little rock shop in Gualala while you are here.
We were supposed to go camping in the Sierras but with the record snowfall this year our campsite wasn't available. We chose Gualala instead. The house was clean and had ample room for 8. The yard was large and kept our 4 grandkids busy while their parents relaxed. The hot tub was small but fit two adults or three kids easily. We would recommend this house to anyone who wants quiet, spacious lodging.
Fun long weekend
Had a great stay with my family and in-laws. Enjoyed the deck and fireplace every morning and space for kids to move around. House is well equipped with everything we needed and Jane was very easy to communicate with. Bowling ball beach, Pt Arena Lighthouse, Trinx Cafe, and B Bryan Preserve are fun spots to hit if you're in the area.
We had a wonderful time in Gualala. Jane and Keith were great hosts and went above and beyond. Communication was great and fast, and they left us wonderful fresh local produce! We are keeping this place saved for the future.
We really enjoyed our stay at Sunset Beach. Deb did a great job communicating and was very easy to reach if needed. Jason was very helpful and attentive and all of our travel arrangements went seamlessly. We have stayed in no less than 10 places on the island and also own a place there. This was right at the top for many reasons. Quality of beach and beauty of the water out front, great pool, wide open sandy areas to walk, etc. There are also great fishing opportunities steps from the property, with schools of bonefish in the flats and snapper off the docks. After 10 years visiting the island 2-3 times yearly this was our first stay south of town. We loved it. The water was beautiful, there were very good restaurants and fruit stands and it was very safe. There is a police substation and an active neighborhood watch. We will be staying here on future trips!
