Peaceful Lakefront Getaway with Ping Pong on Apple Valley Lake

I don't know where to begin. This is a beautiful lake house and it's so calming for the soul. We enjoyed so many things here. My husband and daughter fished off the dock, we had so many laughs playing ping pong and Pac-Man. I could just hang out on the deck all day enjoying the cool breezes and views. We took a short trip to Friendly Meadows Country Store and bought some Amish goods and huge pumpkins. I suggest taking a short drive to Gambier. It's a lovely little college town with a fantastic deli and Birds of a Feather Bake Shop. We really enjoyed our stay.

We had a wonderful time. The house was clean and well stocked with paper products and towels. The paddle boards were fun. We loved the dock and the fishing was great.There was plenty of wood for the fire pit. We enjoyed the early morning views from the decks with the sun rise and the fog on the lake. The view was spectacular. The kids enjoyed playing in the garage with the various toys. We had a ping pong playoff and even a round robin. The walk from the dock up to the house was a great work out. We are a family that loves to talk, play games and enjoy one another's company. This house really worked for us. Thanks for providing an environment where we could be together.

We all had a great time at the lake house. Beds and chairs are all very comfortable and kitchen has everything you need to cook with. The hosts are very prompt to reply to questions and are awesome! The family would like to stay here again!

My family had a great time at the Lakefront Gateway, the house was very well equipped and comfortable; however, not having access to any of the beaches/swimming pool was a big negative. I did not realized that things changed not necessarily for the better for the guests. When we were at Apple Valley the last time, there were no restrictions, so I just assumed that the beach access at least is for anybody visiting the resort. My bad. Otherwise, the house itself was very nice and our family had a good time. Thank you.

This is our third time staying here. We love it! It has everything we need to make our vacation easy! The kids love the paddle boards and the game room on rainy days. We love to just float and make great memories with our kids. We’ll be back again and again!!

We stayed at this beautiful lake house on Apple Valley Lake to celebrate a very special occasion—two couples, both marking our 40th anniversaries—and it couldn’t have been more perfect!The host was fantastic, with excellent communication from start to finish. The home was spotless and welcoming, with two separate bedrooms—each with its own en suite bathroom—which gave us the perfect balance of comfort and privacy. The beds were cozy, and the space was just right for relaxing.We especially appreciated the well-stocked coffee bar each morning and loved sipping coffee on the porch with a gorgeous lake view. The private dock gave us another peaceful spot to sit back, unwind, and enjoy the natural beauty all around.Mount Vernon was just a quick 15-minute drive, and we had some fantastic meals at Mazzas, The Alcove, and Southside Diner—all great additions to our anniversary weekend.This rental truly checks every box: clean, comfortable, beautifully located, and thoughtfully hosted. We’d return in a heartbeat and highly recommend it to anyone looking for a peaceful and memorable lakeside retreat!

As part of a biking trip on the Ohio/Erie bike trail we stayed at this cottage for a couple days. Is only about 4 miles off the trail. Nice neighborhood. Rental was well stocked and response by the host was prompt. The Yoders

Great house and location, mother nature did not cooperate.

Peaceful place, Quick responce from host for needs. The place is smaller than it appears but looks like the photos. The driveway down to the property is very steep,there is a parking pad for 3 cars. But you still need to get down to the house wooden stair way steep . So if you arent steady on your feet this isnt the place for you. Not a place for toddlers. But everyone else I would highly recommend yyou. Yong folks will be fine. Cant

Great Lake vibes enjoyed the time with our family. Water was warm and the paddle boards were a big hit.

We had family with us ranging in age from 8 - 81. The property was perfect. Everyone in our group had their own space and the view of the lake was gorgeous! A very short drive to Kenyon (and we were back and forth frequently). After long days of orientation it was so nice to come “home” to a little slice of paradise!

Everyone enjoyed the house and the lake. The grandkids did not want to leave.

Very nice property. Ample seating outside, but not much on the inside. Two old ladies with us complained about the tv. The beds were not the best, foam king bed that seemed very worn on one side. It was nice, even tho we could not bring our dog.

This property sits right on beautiful Apple Valley Lake, and sitting down on the dock at sunset was a sublime experience. The main family room was our primary indoor setting, and made for a comfortable and open space for socializing and watching TV. The one challenge we had was a problem with the air conditioning, which was a significant issue given that it was 92 degrees outside and steamy inside the property as well. The thermostat appeared to have disconnected from the wifi, and attempts to reboot the router didn't change the situation - and then I didn't get a response from the owners. It's a great property, but wound disappointing us as a group because we wound up sleeping in a sauna. I'd highly recommend the house and the view is outstanding, but I'd rather go back when the temp outside is lower:).

This is our second visit at Slice of… We had everything we needed. We are ready to book next year's vacation!! Thanks for the fun memories!!

We had a wonderful time! The kids loved roasting marshmallows and paddle boarding. The view was amazing and we had perfect weather! I wish we would have booked longer! We will definitely look for this property the next time we come back!

We greatly enjoyed our stay and the chance to visit with friends we had not seen in many years. Everything we could have needed was provided. I give the hosts an A for the quality of their property. The beds were comfortable. the hosts answered our questions promptly. and the property was exactly as described.

We really enjoyed the openness of the house and the proximity to the lake. Barbra is a kind and responsive host. We look forward to returning!
