Cassopolis, Michigan
Located directly on Diamond Lake, this 3BR/2BA home has a fenced yard, 70' pier, and beds for 9. Located on the west side of the lake with a bluff behind it leaves the water calm even on a windy day.
Diamond Lake is the largest inland lake in SW Michigan (it has a car ferry over to a residential island). Diamond Lake is the ideal water ski, fishing, or boating lake, with plenty of shoreline for interesting sightseeing by boat. And because it is so large, it rarely seems crowded with boats, even on summer weekends.
This 3BR/2Bath(showers only) home is 2 hours from Chicago, 30 minutes from South Bend, and 1 hour from Kalamazoo. MBR has a new King Pillowtop, second BR has 2 twins, third BR has a new Queen pillow top and a day bed with trundle, plus a queen Sleeper sofa in the Great Room. Great Room has 14' redwood plank cathedral ceiling; fireplace at one end, kitchen at the other. Hardwood flooring throughout. Sunporch (with new sofa and Loveseat) faces the lake, with wrap-around deck beyond that. New Split/Mini ac/heat system.
There is a patio and 'beach sandbox' (for sunbathing/Bon Fires) out by the lake. Room for volleyball between the house and lake. Sandy bottom out chest deep; docking for 3 boats. Home is NOT wheel chair accessible. Turn-key furnished (excluding "consumeables" (including paper goods), including linens, BBQ, etc. Several golf courses within 15 minutes (2 within 2 miles).

Great 3 day getaway. Very nice people at the near by Marina offered to let us use the fishing boat for free for the remainder of our stay aftter he first 2 days of rental, unfortunately we were leaving the next day. Cottage was cozy and all amenities we needed were provided. Only advice would be to use a little less scented room fresheners. Some rooms had 2-3 and was very strong. Thanks David!
Not fancy, but very quaint, clean and comfortable older cabinish feel. Kitchen very accommodating. Just bring your eats. Bedrooms are nice size and comfortable. Sun porch is comfortable for watching the sun come up or just to sit and watch activity on the lake. Fenced yard is bonus for your fur baby or little humans. Loved sitting by the fire at night on the lake shore watching the moon rise. It shined on the lake waters as if the lake was on stage. Beautiful! Thank you Dave for sharing your piece of tranquility!
Great piece of property and nice location on the lake. Nice sandy little beach and large yard which was wonderful. We had a great time! House is a definitely a cottage inside which is cool, wonderful A/C for those hot days. The only thing that would have made it better was a bit of dusting and updating the inside to help those of us who had allergies, but hey, it’s the lake! We went outside most of the time anyway.
Comfortable and quaint. Everyone enjoyed being there. Just be sure you can manage steps down to the house. Nice yard for kids and dogs to play in. If you want to take a boat ride, bring your own boat or rent one at the marina nearby.
This was our second stay. Diamond Lake has the most beautiful sunsets.
Dave’s home had everything we needed and we enjoyed our stay.
Cottage was just as described. The perfect getaway for my husband, myself and our pup. We will definitely be returning… hopefully with the entire family next time.
Very nice location. Comfortable place to stay!
Everything was great, house and view of the lake
This is a great property. which is why we came back a year later. The photos tell an accurate story. The location right on the lake was great for just sitting and enjoying the view, especially the two swans who came every afternoon to preen themselves by the dock. We particularly liked the comfortable sofas and chairs, and the interesting selection of books is a nice thing for a rainy day. Breakfast at the Broadway cafe in Cassopolis was a real pleasure.
Everything was great. Cottage was cleaned very well. Just us and our 2 puppies stayed for two wonderful weeks. We ventured into town and discovered the next Saturday was a vintage car and coffee show. We went and had a great time. We had a great breakfast at the Broadway Cafe. Great burgers and ice cream from The Twirl. Looking forward to next year!
Nice rustic home. Owner was very responsive. However, if you are a swimmer don't plan on it unless you have a boat to get you to the deeper parts of the lake. Do rent kayaks at the local marina--breathtaking experience early and late in the day. Party at the sandbar if you like! So relaxing. Thank you!
The best part was the fenced in yard/location/view. We loved the cottage atmosphere and wood paneled walls. The stairs coming down to house were uneven with loose railings. Over grown shrubs on way down stairs. Unappealing landscaping. Outdoor umbrella was covered in mildew. Lack of outdoor seating. No lawnchairs. The supplies in house were disorganized. Open cabinets and stuff falls out, some draws dont open and or are falling apart. Mildew smell in kitchen and lot and lots of ants. Bathroom door didn't close. Cobwebs all over ceiling, extra fans coated in dust, multiple light bulbs out. Burners on grill caked in grease. We only grilled 1 day due to multiple grease flare-ups while trying to cook. We did enjoy our stay mainly due to location and we love the lake. The house was tolerable as most of our time was spent on the lake. If we were new to the lake we would have been disappointed.
The photos didn't do justice to this wonderful lakefront house. Fully furnished with modern appliances including modern washer/dryer and dishwasher. Down side was the pet fur on the furniture.
This home, as advertised, has a beautiful fenced in yard, good dock for your boat, great view and lake frontage. The house itself has a rustic cabin feel. There are 3 good sized bedrooms, the master having its own bath. It is well stocked with anything you need. There is a gas Weber grill. The fenced yard is perfect for your pet or children. The approach from the parking/street is a very steep set of stairs, and the hand rails are a bit unstable so care is required and it is definitely not for someone who can’t make that climb. It only has 2-3 parking spaces which was not an issue for us but may be for larger groups. Overall we enjoyed out stay. The owner and property manager were extremely responsive and helpful to us. We at first had trouble figuring out the heat/AC system because instructions were referencing an old system that had since been upgraded. I called the property manager, she answered immediately on the weekend and helped us trouble shoot, and even sent someone right over to the property to make sure we has the issue resolved. That was great service! Overall we very much enjoyed our stay here!
Awesome as usual! We keep renting this property because of the awesome fenced in yard for the dog. Love Diamond lake and how clean the water is. The cabin has everything you need for a great getaway. We will be back to this property as long as its available! Thank you Mortimer for sharing your lake front home!
We had so much fun here. Such a cute place to stay. We come here every year with our family and will be returning again next year!
