Lopez Island, Washington
Peaceful island retreat with view of Mud Bay! Enjoy clamming, hiking, biking and fabulous sunsets on Lopez Island part of the San Juan Islands.
Our home features 2 bedrooms and 1 bath with an inflatable queen sized bed. Sleeps 6 maximum
Our family has been on the island since the early to mid 90’s after our BFF family friends moved there full time. We recommend hiking at Glacier point, Agate Beach and around the Village. We set up this delightful little cabin in the late 90’s and we have been visiting ever since.
Details of the Property: There is 1 Ring camera installed on the front of the building by the front door that faces the parking area. There are no other surveillance devices on the property. There are large swaths of forest on either side and it is very private. We have provided basic amenities such as toilet paper, dish soap and always fresh clean towels and sheets. We use artificial fragrance free detergent for those with sensitive skin or allergies. We try to make the place very comfortable for your stay. We have a full kitchen with essentially everything you need to make a great home cooked meal. We also have nice new pillows and sheets and we continue to upgrade items. There is a new wifi modem, and the fiber optic cables are currently being routed to this side of the island! As soon as that becomes available we will have Lightning fast speeds! WiFi internet, DVD, VCR (mostly a place for being outdoors enjoying nature! Bring a book and unplug! Stream content on laptop works very well). Bolt lock at front door, exterior LED perimeter lights at night, and heaters work very well! We have a Bluetooth speaker here for you to use. The primary bedroom lamps have usb and usb-c plug ins.
Safety: There is a fire extinguisher under the kitchen sink and another in the primary bedroom near the book case. There is a first aid kit under the bathroom sink. Each window has 2 locks and a screen. Please undo both locks to open and then re-lock both locks again after usage. Please turn off all heaters and appliances, and lock the Bolt lock before leaving the home each time. Please also be sure to lock the sliding glass door.
We have done Thanksgiving as a family in the cabin, crabbing, gooey duck hunting, mt constitution hikes and more! Please reach out If you would like recommendations on exploring the area!
The Islander restaurant in the village has a pool table and pinball machine. Sometimes live music!
Isabella’s in the village has amazing Americanos and espresso, sometimes the taco truck is out front and they are delicious! There is also a pizza truck. The village has a more standard grocery store and also a higher end “natural” grocer. There is a skate park in the village as well. There is also a golf course on the island. Be sure to wave at locals on the road! Just a finger or 2 acknowledgement will do!
We recommend visiting the South Side market when coming in and out of Mud Bay Area for any snacks, ice cream, or last minute things that you need to complete a meal back at the cabin!
We have a property manager on the island who is very responsive and helpful. The cleaning fee is paying it forward for the next guest, and as such, when you arrive it will have been paid forward for you to enjoy with extra TLC and cleanliness. Also, as an island community, all waste is brought to the dump by the cleaning crew after each guest. Please contact the owner directly and we always do our best to resolve anything that may come up.
Enjoy!
There is nothing wrong with this house, but it's just not for us. It's very secluded and feels very cabin like. The furniture inside feels dated even though the owner mentioned recently purchasing it. My biggest issue with the house is that there are zero blinds anywhere! So even though you are in the woods, there are still neighbors and it would be nice to get dressed without giving everyone a show or sleep in without tons of light pouring in the windows.
Lovely
This was our first time on the island and our impression is that it is very friendly, not crowded, and you can get anywhere within 25 min. The house was quiet with a beautiful filtered view of the water and sunsets through the trees. It has a nice spacious floor plan with everything you would need. The beds were comfortable with plenty of towels. Check-in/out was simple and a binder to give you info on the island. Make sure you check out the market on Saturday 10-2, and be to the Lopez ferry at least an hour early or you may not get on if driving.
I spent the weekend here with 2 friends, and it was exactly what we needed– Super quiet with all the necessities and more! I would love to come back and stay here again.
Comfortable place. We were able to explore the island, including Iceberg Point which is very pretty. Inflatable mattress worked well for third kid. Need blackout curtains on windows, but other than that, comfortable, accommodating stay.
We had a wonderful stay over the long weekend! The cabin is very comfortable and clean with lots of privacy! We loved catching glimpses of the sunsets through the trees and listening to the breeze. Very nice kitchen with lots of room to prepare a nice meal! The only downside is the lack of curtains in the bedrooms - especially in the kids/second room. Hard to sleep in or have your little ones get to sleep without any way to block the light! Otherwise, no complaints! Would definitely recommend for those looking for a quiet getaway!
Well kept, quiet, clean, and beautiful. We will treasure our memories there.
The quiet and secluded cabin was a perfect getaway and home base as we explored and enjoyed the San Juan Islands! It was clean, and the owner was responsive (she took the time to inform us of a planned power outage the next day). Highest recommendation and we hope to return soon!
The host was super responsive even despite some communication errors due to the vrbo app. The house was very clean and exactly what we needed for the weekend. Loved that the cabin felt secluded, but that you could still see the water through the trees from the front deck. There was a brand new fridge and the kitchen is large! This is the perfect house for a family vacation or relaxing getaway for friends over a weekend. Thanks for letting us stay!
Convenient
Nice, quiet stay while we were on the island for a project.
Nice quite house just perfect for 2 people. Had everything we needed. Would definitely come back.
Beautiful setting…quiet and peaceful…neighbors not so much…marathon party…mosquitoes rampant… Issues with appliances and the idea that the space is advertised for six people with only a king and a set of twins. The blow-up bed was for one and there is a pack and play crib… Update info on island services as well.
Our stay was great as always, except the refrigerator that wasn't working well last year, which we were hoping would be replaced this year, was still there and didn't keep our food cold at all. We had to keep our food in a cooler for 5 days. Hoping there will be a new refrigerator next year!
Lovely place…great view…beautiful sunsets…out of anyone’s control: insects, neighborhood noise ( family party?).
This place has everything we needed! It was lovely to stay on the deck and watch the trees and wildlife. We heard many types of birds including a woodpecker, and saw deer every day! We biked and hiked all over the island and saw stunning views! Great vacation!
We were disappointed with the overall lack of cleanliness of the house and deck area. BBQ grill is unusable due to rusted grates. Deck chairs caked with dirt and pine needles. Great deck to sit and enjoy if it was usable. We found towels in the dryer, which we folded for the cleaner. The coffee maker was barely usable. Showerhead caked with hard water crust, all of these problems are not expensive fixes, so for the cost of weekend we will look forore cleaner and usable places to stay when on Lopez Island.
A well designed cabin in the woods - a doe and her 2 fawns visited daily. Nice in EVERY way except for a very heavy quilt on the bed, sheets had holes and bleach spots, dishwasher unusable due to missing wheel on rack. Stove needs replacing - one burner did not function and another was unreliable. The online listing mentioned a view of the water. We could barely see the water due to the trees, large and small -though the sunsets were spectacular. Curved driveway sloped to the right. After heavy rain our vehicle slid in the mud to a grass covered ditch from which we had to be pulled, We found this review very difficult to write. With considerable care, this would be an exceptional place to stay.
The house was exactly as advertised. Clean, neat, shaded. Lots of privacy and quiet. Plenty of room for 4+ adults. Easy access to anything on the south end of Lopez Island. Relaxing view of Mud Bay through the trees on the front deck.
My Wife and 4 month old had an amazing time on Lopez Island at this amazing location. We have stayed on Whidbey Island before but never Lopez. We loved the location of this rental. It is nestled in the woods at the south end of the Island. A beautiful drive from the Ferry. It was extremely quiet and relaxing with large windows in the living/dining/kitchen area that let in great natural light. We took a drive around the island in the evening to go Deer spotting and saw 8 in about :45 minutes of driving. This place is perfect for a Couple or Family and we would 100% stay here again.
Have spent 35 years coming to Lopez, but have always stayed near the village. This was quite a change as it is on the south end and in the trees, but a welcome change. Solitude, peace and quiet is what you can expect when staying in this cozy cottage. Enjoy the sound of the wind and woodpeckers in the tall pines and cedar surrounding you, and a view of the bay through the trees below. Sleeping room for 4 with a clean and up-to-date kitchen and bathroom. Would have enjoyed using the bbq but was not maintained. Owner stated that is up to the guest to access, so this was no surprise and was expected. Property manager and owner will gladly assist if needed with anything at all. Highly recommended.
