There is so much that is wonderful about this property! The large windows with partial views of the ocean and the surrounding area are fantastic, the beds were comfortable, the hot tub so amazing and relaxing, the ocean just a short walk, and a sizable tv for watching movies on a large couch that fit all six of us! There was a snafu with the washing machine overflowing. However, the property manager made it up to us with a discount on cleaning fees. Overall, a great place to stay!
Pros: location. Great access to beach and playground down the road. Large house with open floor plan. Cons: House poorly maintained. Walls are scratched up, tiles dirty, carpet and upholstery stained. Thin pillows and bed linens. Under the beds and couch were dust balls and random items from prior renters so it obviously hadn't been cleaned. Trash bins outside were full and smelly. We rented this house at the last minute for the holidays so there was no other option. It sufficed simply because of the location. This house has great potential but they're is no effort to make it more than minimal standards for guests.
We’ve vacationed at The Sea Ranch for over 20 years so we know generally what to expect. Both this property and management company were disappointing. The bedding was much lower quality than anything you’d expect to see at this price. The pillowcases in the master bedroom were way too small and covered little more than half of each pillow. Not sure what they were thinking, but we ultimately drove to the rental office to ask for replacements that fit. They had none and blamed covid (?), so they gave us more smaller pillow cases to compensate. The mattress in the master bedroom has an uncomfortable sag on one side. This is clearly an investment rental, so no personal touches you’d see from owners who spend any time in the house. The walls and blinds are heavily worn. The smoke detector goes off with every meal, and is completely out of reach. Finally, the house design makes poor use of the wonderful nature just outside the front door. No ocean-facing outdoor area like most Sea Ranch properties. Overall, the quality of lodging was not worth the price (and extra fees). A letdown compared to normally outstanding Sea Ranch homes.
It would be nice to have a keypad entry so we didn't have to drive to town for the key. Knives need sharpening. The large couch in the living area is super comfortable. My dog escaped from the back yard twice, and the fence could be higher for privacy getting in and out of the hot tub. Overall, a delightful stay in a beautiful location!
I loved the large sectional sofa and the open floor plan. We walked our dog to the beach everyday. Peaceful and relaxing. A safe getaway during Covid times. It's a pain to have to pick up and drop off the key in Gualala, otherwise everything was great.
Overall, it was just okay. Been going to Sea Ranch renting homes for 40 years so I have a lot of experience with numerous rental companies. Over a week before our trip I emailed Grand Welcome, manager, asking if items in the poor reviews were taken care of e.g musty smell, sufficient TP and sufficient paper towels for 6 adults for 4.5 days, and sufficient coffee filters. got a response saying “ all the issues have been taken care of! There is one roll of TP per bathroom, so bring more. One roll of paper towels so bring more”! Wow! Really? I then emailed 3 days prior to arrival and asked if the house had a blender as it was not on the appliance list but most house I stayed at had them. I did NOT hear back so called the day I was to arrive and the gentleman said according to the list, no. So I packed my Vita Mix and brought it with us since I told him we were needing to purée soup we were making. When we arrived there WAS A BLENDER. when we arrived, the key and directions packet had a laminated Wifi address and code so we all tried to connect to find the p/w INVALID. Really? So I called Grand Welcome from the house and a woman told me the correct p/w was in the welcome check on EMAIL sent a few days prior to our arrival! I assumed the packet we got was accurate and none of us printed out the email! Such poor communication! Also, the house WAS MUSTY SMELLING! As others had mentioned in their reviews I wanted to make sure it was okay since I have a mold allergy. Yet, I was told it was fixed. I explained I had allergies and obviously nobody checked. On arrival, I received a “Welcome email” and complained we only had ONE plastic kitchen garbage can liner for our entire stay and would need addl paper towels, they were delivered that afternoon. That was good. Overall, attention to the details lacked considerable as you can see. Also, most house I’ve rented over the past 10 years supply shampoo! Not this house!
The window by the laundry room leaks, washing machine leaks and it was not even Half full, there are NO mixing bowls, can opener does not work. Maybe open something up storage for renters to store dry goods, food, add blankets to the closets. House good other than these few items, I would rent it again and come better prepared. Thank you
House smelled musty when we first walked in . Called property mgmt and they no offer and solution. Had to buy candles to make the house smell better. Location to the ocean was abou tv
This property does not live up to what we expect at Sea Ranch. Unlike the photos in the listing the exterior is overgrown with weeds. The photo of the little fenced yard where the hottub is shows fresh redwood bark but what we got was a tall weed patch. The amenities were less than the bare minimum. Not even a single filter for the coffee maker. ( We left some for the next guest) There is no cable/satellite tv even though the brokers website, Grand Welcome has it checked as an amenity. The garbage cans were overflowing when we arrived and it was obvious that animals had burrowed into the enclosure. While the living room and master bedroom have large windows facing the ocean if you don't keep the blinds closed the afternoon sun heats the rooms beyond comfort. Only a few of the windows open to catch the breeze, and without AC or ceiling fans it was difficult to cool down the house . The morning after check in I purchased a pair of box fans at the local ACE hardware. (We left them for the next guest). I could go on but I think I've made my point. We have enjoyed numerous homes at Sea Ranch but unfortunately Pacific Spender falls short.
We enjoyed our stay here. Check in after hours was easy. The kitchen was very well-appointed, with all the things we needed to cook. The location with access to the walking trail was great. Our dog was at ease. We got the correct wifi code off the back of the router as the instructions had a couple letters wrong, so no hitches there. A nice, relaxing time overall.
