The property has ventilation issues. It is very moldy smelling downstairs and upstairs it is very warm. You can only open a couple of windows and have to turn on multiple fans to circulate for a comfortable environment. When opening upstairs window I found mold spores along the bottom of the window frame. Also, when on the back deck from the master bedroom upstairs appear to have mouse or rat feces near the side of the house. Also, when staying the downstairs toilet got backed up and overflowed allover the bathroom floor. I'm wondering if that might be related to the molding issues and why the downstairs smells moldy. The last day the keyless door did not work. The management company was very responsive when calling about the key issue. However, I'm not sure if the larger issues are going to be addressed anytime soon.
There has been no yard maintenance in a long time, the outside and even the planters were nothing but weeds. The entry was through an old and dirty porch area. The porch door leads into the downstairs living area, which smelled moldy. The bedspreads were very old. Judging from the layer of dust in higher places, the mold along the edges of the showers, the dirty window frames, the coating of orange mold on the tub jets, this house has not had a good cleaning in a long time. Due to the general uncleanliness, we washed the bedding before using it. The walls and doors were filthy. The moldings are low quality, dinged up, dirty, and missing in some places. Minimal effort has been made with everyday household repairs. There was an ant trap on the kitchen counter. The house was apparently built in the early 1990s, the bathrooms are original. There have been some nice DIY updates such as new carpet in the living areas, slate flooring in the entry and the kitchen, a lovely wood ceiling in the main living space, some new kitchen cabinets. Most of the living room furniture has been replaced. Shoes must be worn because the carpet tack strips poke through and cut your feet. All appliances, paper products, soaps, etc are the least expensive version available. Three different styles of kitchen cabinets, laminate kitchen counters, linoleum flooring in baths and laundry room. No bbq, no hairdryer, hit and miss kitchen dishes, pots, utensils. Property not recommended.
The housecleaning leaves something to be desired. The home is very dated, and the pictures of it are done so you really don't realize it. Also, thought that most of the furniture was inexpensive and of poor quality. BUT, it's location is awesome.
We liked the house and the location. You could almost see the ocean from the deck between other houses but the beach access was close. We had trouble with the electronic lock but got in and settled. The lock did not work for us again. We texted management about the lock and a shortage of hand towels and washcloths with little response. A maintenance worker came by on another issue and looked at the lock. He replaced a battery and the lock worked after that. He said he would advise housekeeping about the towels but nothing changed during our stay. The yard was in poor condition with tall weeds everywhere. There is a fire pit in the back yard that is unusable because of the weeds. With just a few changes we would stay here again.
Property wasn’t very clean. Vertical blinds in bedroom were broken and had been for awhile. Only two hangers in the master bedroom. BBQ didn’t work
Great spot! If stairs are difficult this is not the spot for you. Also, given we Had teenagers that took the downstairs it would have been very nice to have some technology upstairs. I would like to see a modern TV upstairs so family can watch movies when the weather is poor or movie nights. Thank you.
The house was spacious and warm, with even some view of the storm surf through the main living area windows. The kitchen was well-sized and the layout was practical. The stairs in the house were a bit steep. The beach was a short stroll to the end of the street and out through the dunes. Overall experience was excellent.
We had a nice time, but when “ocean-view” is advertised, we expected more than a glimpse of the ocean if you lean up tight against the front window. Beds are all comfy, but couches were not
Great location, quite street. Even though it is animal friendly it does not smell like animals. the house is nice and bright with all the windows. Difficult driveway. In the check-in instructions they should note that the keypad on the door does not work. Look behind the outside door in the porch for the lockbox (top one) which holds the key to the door. Upstairs living room furniture is very worn and coffee table is missing the glass. Beds are comfortable and linens and towels are good. Garbage disposal was not working, hopefully it will be fixed prior to the next vacationer.
This house was perfect for what we wanted it for. Lots of space for our family. Kitchen was well stocked with everything you’d need for making a meal. Lots of towels. The only thing I would have to say that was negative would be the furniture really needs updated and the carpet. We did bring our dogs as it’s a dog friendly rental. If I were the owners of the property I’d definitely rip up the carpet and replace with something like vinyl flooring so when a pet has an accident it’s not on carpet and leaving stains and smells. It does smell like pets but that’s a given. There is a knob on the wall that is an exhaust fan and that really helps cool the upstairs down. Overall we enjoyed our stay and would rent again.
Rating Details: The property manager was very helpful. The vacation rental was spotless. I was very happy with the location. I was somewhat dissatisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: The location was great. We walked every morning on the beach into the town to get coffee and each evening watching the sun set over the horizon. It would have been helpful to have basic amenities like garbage bags to cover the kitchen bins.
