Incredible sprawling oceanfront home with views of the water from every room in the house!!! Located in Boothbay Harbor, just 4 minutes from the heart of town and a 5 minute walk to Robinson's wharf and Southport Island.
This property was renovated in early 2016 and features an incredible New England design in a very spacious and sunlit home featured on
This is the perfect property for a large family vacation. Multiple generations can enjoy a wide expanse including an attached 'apartment' and plenty of space to relax inside and out, swim in the ocean off the dock, paddleboard, cook lobster, sit around the stone fireplace, and pick wild berries on the property. Families have enjoyed this property because of it's location and breathtaking beauty and amenities. It epitomizes a Maine vacation from the lobster wharf across the bridge (a 5 minute walk), or a quick 5 minute drive to the heart of Boothbay Harbor to enjoy the shops, restaurants, and boats that have made the town the summer destination of New England.
The kitchen features a professional gas range, stainless appliances, wood shiplap walls, stone countertops, and beautiful hardwood floors. Sleeps up to 14 people, this is the perfect retreat for large families, as there are separate sections of the house to have your own space. Features incredible view and sunsets on a spectacular waterfront property. Enjoy fires around the fire pit, or huge family dinners in the sweeping kitchen and dining room. The large living room offers several seating areas with incredible views of the water.
House is configured as one building divided into 2 separate living quarters. The main part of the home (everything to the left of the garage) has 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. Master with queen bed, guest room with queen bed, and guest room with two twin beds. Finally, 'Kiddiebunkport' is a bunk room with 4 twin beds and is off the living room, so kids have a place to sleep and hang out. It's every kid's dream!
The other section of the home (in photo, see section to the right of the garage) offers a 1 bedroom and 1 bathroom. Bedroom has queen bed, downstairs full bathroom with clawfoot tub, fully equipped kitchen, living room, dining area, and pull out sofa. For large family vacations, this is a great space for one family, but where everyone congregates in the main home but offers a separate space.
Have a lobster boil using the gas lobster cooker and the gas grill, or simply walk across the bridge to Robinson's for a great meal (or they will boil lobsters for you to bring home!!). Enjoy sunsets every night where each one just seems better than the last.
Enjoy seeing seals pop up in the water off the dock, and enjoy the gorgeous boats that pass by the Southport bridge, one of the oldest swing bridges in the country.
This is your perfect family vacation retreat with all the amenities and space you would need. The location is incredible, and you can walk to eat lobster, or take a quick drive along the water to the heart of town (or you can about 1.5 miles).
Enjoy the Aquarium which is said to be one of the best in the region, or visit the beautiful Maine Botanical Gardens.
Overall, the property was nice and everything you would expect in a rambling beach house. I really liked the separate apartment where we put our niece and nephew with their children it was perfect where kids needed to go to sleep earlier. The main house was well equipped and had everything you needed to cook and entertain. The one challenge and really no one's fault is the driveway. Just tricky to get in and out of. Debbie the host and owner was great in communication as questions came up. I recommend this home highly. Thanks so much!
Wonderful view from the house and the sunset view from the dock were even better. Close to town and yet in a somewhat secluded area.
Loved the view and the fire pit and the location but felt that the description was a bit overstated and that this place needs a bit of work. While it was perfectly fine and comfortable and may have been a LL Bean type house 5++ years ago, it now seems dated and in need of a refresh. I was most disappointed in the owners lack of communication. There were not good instructions nor a package telling us about restaurants, stores, location, things to do, what toys were available in the house (as they marketed the house as having outside toys that were nowhere to be found) and when i reached out to the owner she was defensive and argumentative and critical and blamed VRBO and told me it should have been on the website and wasn't her fault. When i finally caught up with her by phone, she told me that info is usually there and should be in a drawer somewhere but we found nothing and had to spend the first 2 days figuring everything out for ourselves. As stated, this house has a lot of potential but needs TLC and much better communication and details. Based on the price they charge and the way it is being marketed as a showcase house, I felt oversold and underserviced and will not be coming back.
Great time in this beautiful New England home. 8 adults and 4 kids had plenty of space. Nice to have 4 full sized bathrooms. Plenty of towels. Nearly brand new kitchen. Spent a lot of time around wonderful fire pit. Really neat dock with up close view of many sailboats passing thru the Southport bridge.
First, let me say, the exterior of the home, grounds, water front and view are spectacular. I do however want to point out some of the interior disappointments. 1. While the house is advertised as sleeping 14-as a group of 7 we were somewhat crowded in the kitchen/dining area which is described as huge and sweeping. The dining table seats 6. 2. The fire pit is lovely, but once again-only chairs for 6 to sit. 3. Chairs are pictured on the dock-there are none. 4. The stairs in main house are very steep and the treads smaller than normal. I know this is an older home-just mentioning in case someone elderly is traveling with your group. 5. I am assuming the majority of travelers renting this home are not from Boothbay and have luggage. There was only 1 luggage rack in the house. Its inconvenient to be digging in your luggage on the floor while traveling. 6. Under the amenities section A/C is advertised. I had assumed this was for the main home. Only the apartment has A/C. It got pretty warm during our stay. We did open all of the windows that had screens (some did not) or screens that were functioning and were still pretty warm. Ceiling fans would be a great addition as only the master bedroom had one. Being from Texas, we are used to the heat, but were uncomfortable while sleeping at night. 7. The home is advertised as having a fireplace in the master which it does-its just covered by a chest of drawers. Anyone staying in the winter might think it is usable when indeed it is blocked. 8. The garage apartment bedroom has multiple sky lights. While this is a beautiful day time view, its awful for sleeping with a 5:30 am sunrise. Also, the hot water was not sufficient for 2-guests had to come shower in main house. 9. With Covid and guests needing the assurance that duvets, bath mats, sheets etc. have been washed and sanitized, we felt some of these items simply were not clean. 10. Finally, just a heads up-you literally can hear every cough, sneeze, person turning over, snoring, rolling over, cell phone dinging, etc. from all 3 bedrooms on the second floor. I know this is an older home, but there is zero privacy in that regard. 11. Owners belongings need to be kept in area separate from guests to free up space-fridge, beverage center, pantry etc. 12. In the check in procedures-guests are warned not to enter the garage for any reason. Ironically, this is where the grill and additional outdoor seating is stored.
Wonderful location. Great setting and a great property to explore local areas by boat.
We needed a quick change of scenery during April school break so we headed up for a few days. House was lovely and had plenty of space. Everything was as advertised. Lovely location overlooking the water. The house received so much daylight from the huge windows it warmed us even on a cold day. The owners were very responsive when I accidentally locked myself out of the house. Thank you!
We chose this property based on its description and size as we were travelling with a new born and wanted a large house yet something remote due to covid. We chose Maine for our vacation during the offseason (early April) as we were looking to escape crowds and be in nature. The night before we arrived Debbie called me to tell me they were staying on the property as well, in the apartment above the attached garage. Since it was the night before we did not feel we had opportunity to change our plans but we would not have stayed on property with another family. Upon arrival, Debbie pleasantly greeted us and gave us some local recommendations. I asked her to please step back though as we were not wearing masks and she informed us she was vaccinated. Again, not the experience we had signed up for at this price point. While the interactions were limited, it was clear other people were staying on the property attached to the house. In the middle of the week, they had tree work done at the house while we were there, and while we warned it was necessary due to some trees being knocked over, it was also clear it was done while they were in town. A team of men with chainsaws were on the property for a full day, making it unsafe for us to be outdoors with our children. Furthermore the peace and quiet needed for an infant to stick to a nap schedule was ruined. The owners were apologetic but we would never have stayed on this property, under these circumstances. The house is itself a bit dated and unsafe for children. Wooden stairs are cracked and there was a nail sticking out of the banister on the way upstairs. I would hesitate staying with a large group, as hot water ran out quite quickly and we were not able to all shower at night, but rather space throughout the day. There is an ant problem and beware of leaving food out on counter, as you are in nature! As far as the property goes, it is lovely and right on the water. Beware it is on a main road off the bridge that connects to Southport Island. Traffic is at times heavy and would not be safe to let children outside alone. Within an hour of leaving the property, Debbie began texting my personal phone number (rather then going through VRBO) and asking if we had put a cutting board in her dishwasher. Neither were used I explained but she demanded an explanation and told me she would be taking this out of our deposit. Felt a bit like a scam and our concerns were elevated to VR
It would be impossible for me to love this house more! The listing was accurate, and the house was actually a bit larger than I had expected it to be based on the photos (nice surprise). Lots of living space downstairs between the large kitchen and large living room. We were three adults doing a writing residency, and we were all in love with being in this totally serene, stunning, perfect place. The views are unbelievable. And the house is a great mix of old charm + new renovation. I hope to go back many times! Lovely house, lovely location, lovely owner. Perfect!
Great Location in Costal Maine. Plenty of space and well appointed. We had a wonderful time. Happy New Year!
