Summary:

Tranquility By The Sea

The Space:

Tranquility by the Sea is a laid back 3 bedroom, 2 bath home perched on a hillside in beautiful Neskowin. This home has two decks, a fireplace, and a short walk to easy beach access where you might find you have the beach all to yourself!

Three steps up and you are on the main level of this peaceful home. The first thing you will notice is the unique art work done by friends and family of the home owner. The living room has a cushy couch and chairs along with a nice wood burning fireplace. Here you have views for miles from the picture windows facing the beach.

The open and spacious floor plan includes the dining and kitchen areas connected to the living room. The well-stocked kitchen allows you to prepare whatever your heart desires. Whether it is a sit-down dinner around the table or popcorn while watching a movie - the choice is yours! There is even a small nook near corner windows where one could sit and write a letter, read a book or simply bask in the sun.

Go out the sliding glass door from the dining room and here you will take in breath taking views of the ocean from over the tree tops below. If it is the sunset on a warm sunny night or sipping coffee in the morning the views are yours to be had anytime.

Still on the main level, there is one bedroom with a queen size bed. If you can imagine waking up and seeing the ocean views from here you might feel like it just doesn't get better than this! A couple steps from here is a full bathroom with shower stall.

Take 12 steps down and you have entered the family room. Here you have a comfy sofa and flat screen TV including movies for a rainy day. There is also a door that leads you out on a deck perfect for hanging out on sunny days.

On this level, you have two bedrooms - each with two twins. There are nice views of the trees and forest from both of these bedrooms. There is also laundry facilities and a full bathroom with a shower stall, as well.

The beach access is a short stroll from this home. It is about 4 blocks down a nice quiet residential road to the path that takes you onto the sand. This area is a protected sanctuary where you will see anything from deer to seals. If you are lucky, the sand will be low enough to expose ancient tree trunks showing you where the shoreline was hundreds of years ago. And if that is not enough - well there is always the miles of sand that lay ahead just waiting to see your footprints.

While the view was out of this world, the sauna was not available to use. Unfortunately, that was the deciding factor for my renting this place. The parking is absolutely horrible, and thus limited our activities, especially since workers were from next door were contuiously blocking our driveway. The trash was overflowing when we got there, and was never emptied at all. Had to leave all the trash inside due to the bear situation. This was a beutiful home, however there was much damage all over the property, i took photos. The microwave is cracked, and therefore, unsafe. This is my first experience with verbo, and must say not real impressed.

Very nice comfortable home. The views were amazing. As far as the kitchen goes needs to be upgraded, kitchen utensils no dish towels whatsoever. Beds were comfortable. The stairs to get down to the beach need to be cleaned, thorn branches obstruct the path making it hard to get down without getting poked by the thorns. Parking and driveway is a little tricky, but other than that great home would definitely stay here again.

It is a beautiful home, and we enjoyed our stay. It was very clean, which we appreciated. That said, the home needs some attention. Many of the cranks to open the window are broken which meant we were unable to open some windows for ventilation and it was hot in there when we arrived on Thursday evening. Also, We had no garbage bags for the kitchen wastebasket despite many requests and assurance Va Casa would contact someone local. Friday night I tried to slide the slider on the bedroom door closed and it came off the rail. Finally on Friday I made one last request for garbage bags and someone cheerfully brought some over. This is a great house and it deserves better attention than VaCasa is giving it if they are responsible for maintaining it. It could have been a much better stay for us. We have been in other beach homes over the years, and never have had so many issues with a property. Do better!

When we arrived we noticed something we needed got our stay and had confirmed was located in the home was indeed not there. We called Vacasa 4 times. 2 times were were told it would brought to us. 3rd time were were told that they had no one in the area and would not get it. 4th time we were told to go to another town and buy one ourselves. I was very frustrated with the situation and will not be using Vacasa again.

Great property nestled in a gated community on the beach. Management and the owner quickly solved internet issues. A little hard to find due to the road design in the subdivision. The elevated view is very nice.

Checked in but was unable to get through the security gate, all information we were provided did not allow us access, we piggy backed on another vehicle throughout our stay. It was about 85 degrees in the unit when we arrived, wished someone may have thought ahead and had the air conditioning on, no fans were found which could have provided some relief. Many windows and or blinds were not able to open or close, nice view - blocked by tree- but the lack of working windows and blinds made it less impressive. The kitchen did not have many supplies to cook, the non stick pans provided were horribly scratched, we improvised as best we could with the very limited options. A main reason we rent a house is to cook meals, I did not feel comfortable cooking in the pans provided, they clearly had not been inspected if ever, they were past there prime and should not be in a kitchen expecting them to be used for cooking. There was no foil or wrap provided and many of the bowls had chips. In my opinion not getting what we paid for. The beds weren’t very comfortable, my son chose instead to sleep on the couch. The stair path from the house to the beach was overgrown with thorny brush which cut several of us cut us. Not worth the money, for what we were charged the condition of the house and the amenities offered were disappointing. Definitely will not stay here or use this service again.

We had a scary-funny thing happen to us...when getting the keys out of the lock-box the keys fell down a crack in the corner of the front porch and landed about 4.5 feet down. We tried fishing them out to no avail. Luckily, after calling the help line, they were able to get us into the 2nd lock-box...so we didn't have to stay in our vehicle :) The place was great: close to the beach, nice ocean views. The place doesn't show properly on Google maps, so we had to follow the written directions on how to get to the house. We did need to clear some berry shoots that were hanging over the back steps down to the road. We did run out of hot water with our showers...we had 6 people. We did wish that the door to the main bedroom area could lock ;) All in all it was a great place to stay.

Overall the home was nice and has great potential. However, the furnace needed to be repaired so property manager left us with space heaters. If I had known the furnace was not working, I would not have booked this rental. Space heaters are not an alternative when the wind is blowing and rain is falling in the Spring. If it were summer time, I can imagine, but in May in the NW, it's still pretty cold and that was uncomfortable. Additionally, the code for the gate was wrong. When finally got thru the gate, we drove up to the house and went to retrieve the key out of the lock box. It opened up but the key promptly fell out of the box and down into the slots of the slotted floorboards. This seems like a stupid idea to place a lock box over a slotted floor where a key could fall into. What a fiasco! When we got home, friends and family asked about our trip. One family member was anxious to book a place in Neskowin and wondered if she should rent the same place. I quickly told her NO. And relayed our troubles. I am disappointed in the service and think i should at least receive some refunded fees due to our poor service.

Nestled on a bluff overlooking the Pacific Ocean, the house is secluded and quiet, situated in such a way as to make one feel they are the only house around. The house is spacious, clean, and well-laid out. Access to the beach is easy, and in mid-October, we had it to ourselves on a sunny day. We were able to explore the North Coast all the way to Astoria and back in a day (about 8 hours). A great place for a couple, or a family of four.
