Tomahawk, Wisconsin
Unwind in this year-round lakefront home on a secluded bay in northern Wisconsin. This home has three bedrooms (plus third floor loft with two twin beds) so easily sleeps 8, and has three and a half baths. Two roll-away beds are also accessible on site. There is an open concept kitchen and living area with bonus downstairs living/rec room. The home equipped with central AC and heat, 2-car garage and laundry room.
Fish off the dock, enjoy the northwoods from the wrap-around porch, or start a campfire right by the lake. Included are a fishing boat with small motor, fishing poles and tackle, canoe, and kayak. Please note swimming off of the dock is possible, but NOT optimal as the bay is shallow and weedy. We usually float away from shore on tubes or swim off of the pontoon.
Our pontoon boat is available for an additional fee ($100/night or $500 per week). It’s a 20-foot “Suntanner” pontoon, 2000 model with 10-person seating, 60hp motor, padded sun deck and sun canopy.
The home is 4 miles from downtown Tomahawk (or 20 minutes by boat!). Located on Lake Mohawksin, 40 minutes from Wausau and Minocqua. Tomahawk is a full-service town with many parks, restaurants, and shops. It is easy drive from Timms Hill, the high point of the state, the Harrison Hills ATV area, and many cross-country ski trails. It is also a certified snowmobile-friendly city. The house is less than 1/2 mile from the snowmobile trail crossing on Sunset Point Rd.
The Pad is a perfect getaway for family gatherings, fishing trips, boating, hunting, snowmobiling, ice fishing and anyone wishing to enjoy the outdoors all year long!
Property was great. Fishing was OK, bait shop right down the street. Caught a couple small Northern, but overall the experience was great, small portion of the lake you hit some dead heads (underwater trees) but the boat was nice and manageable. Overall great time.
Quiet area. Beautiful house & property. Loved watching deer, muskrats & birds. Only caught small fish, but lake was relaxing.
The house is large, modern and has a Wow factor. The yard is wooded and private. The waterfront is not ideal, but okay. You can sit by the water in privacy. Our small group used the kayaks several times, as well as the pontoon boat. It is worth the extra money to rent the pontoon boat. There also is a small fishing boat with a 9.9 HP motor. The 29-year-old with us used that couple times. My significant other is a great cook and prepared all meals. She thinks a few more pots and pans would be welcome. The owner was very responsive.
We had a great time at the cabin. Everything was very clean and as advertised, cabin was better then the pictures show! Great cabin and use of the pontoon and fishing boat was an extra bonus. Would highly recommend!
Over the top! A perfect location near the cabin for a large family reunion. Everything we needed was available and we will be returning in 2024.
Nice property nestled in the woods by Lake Mohawksin.
Beautiful home with great amenities. Spacious, clean & functional. Owner is very attentive to customers. A+
Really a wonderful place to stay. Even nicer than the listing and a great location. Boat was an added plus!
Very well suited for my elderly mother
Really great property. It was clean, modern and comfortable. The property itself is perfect--right in a quiet bay. Bonfires down by the lake were a perfect way to wind down after a day of fishing and cruising on the pontoon. The owner was responsive, helpful and friendly. Can't recommend this property enough!
Beautiful property and accommodations. Fishing could have been better but not property fault. Loved it
We had an absolute blast at Schaefer’s Pad! What a beautiful space with so many fun things to do. The owner was in touch with us every step of the way and available as needed. Thank you for sharing your special place with us!
We had a great time. It’s a beautiful, well maintained home, super clean, very spacious. It’s sited perfectly in the woods with a little pathway leading to the lake. The dock is in a secluded alcove so very private. We had a couple issues with the boats but were able to resolve the problems easily. The owner was responsive to us and easy to work with. You would not be disappointed renting this home.
We had a great time. Communication was excellent, place was clean, pontoon boat was great. We’d definitely go back!
Loved the cabin and the lake!
The cabin was perfect for our family . the owners made it easy to feel it home.
Nice place, & owner was very responsive.
The property was very beautiful, clean, organized and peaceful!
Had a great time here fishing with the family. Plenty to do both at the cabin and the surrounding area. Highly recommend this property!
This property is AWESOME!! There isn't anything that could have made it any better. The host, Mike is so easy to work with. The property is in a very good location on Lake Mohawksin. My two friends and I fished Lake Nokomis and the Willow Flowage. Fishing was very good. We had the good fortune to fish with Bruce Gruening on Nokomis and the Willow.
After a VRBO glitch, we (myself, 4 teen girls and a dog) found ourselves en route for a spring break getaway with no place to stay. With very short notice, Michael made his property available to us. This is a custom built home on the lake and both the house and the land it's on are absolutely beautiful. The house is very clean and has no animal smell, unlike some rentals that allow pets. The girls enjoyed having the basement space to themselves, as the beds, couches, tv and game table were perfect for them. There were some nice parks within a reasonable driving distance for hiking and Michael offered some helpful suggestions for things in the area. If you like to be on the lake and fish, I can't imagine a better place to stay. And if you just enjoy being in a peaceful, spacious house by the lake, this is the place for you. This is one of my favorite VRBO properties (of many) I've ever had the pleasure to visit and Michael was one of the kindest owners I've dealt with.
