Cute little beach house, very roomy and open. Front porch balcony in full view of Beach which is just across the street. The house was cute but it lacked warmth. You have necessities but no extras at all. The bare minimum on towels and blankets, the decor was old and tired, if that matters to you. I am used to owners leaving a personal note, maybe a special coffee or treat and share their preferences on local attractions. It feels much more comfortable and inviting that way. Here, several of the porch chairs were broken and risky to your health to sit in! Inside the layout was great and mostly clean but the couch was very stained and old looking. In the kids bedroom there was a broken lamp, the shade stuck up in a closet. The front and back doors had large windows with no blind. From the street you can see straight in at night, kind of eery. We stacked chairs to cover those windows. The location was great. One minute walk to the beach. The dunes aren't pretty like in other beach towns, but you have a nice quiet beach here and the quaint little port town of Southport nearby.
Good location. Easy beach access. Carpet was in bad shape. Seals on doors need repaired. Overall house could use some updates.
This property was almost perfect for our stay. The location is unbeatable, with beach access almost right across the street. The house had plenty of room for our group of 5 adults and 2 small children. Our one complaint was that the online listing, both on VRBO and Oak Island Accommodations, clearly indicated that the property had on-site washer and dryer. With two kids under the age of 3, that’s one of the things that sold us on this house. Unfortunately when we arrived, we discovered there was no washer and dryer after all. In the end, we managed by using the kitchen sink and laundry detergent to do some kids’ laundry, but the promised washer and dryer would have made our stay a lot easier. We did raise some other problems with the property company. These included the broken kitchen trash can and the non-working outdoor shower. While not immediately responsive via email or phone, they did send someone the next day to repair the shower. Overall, we had a great week at the beach and we recommend this property!
