Gorgeous atmosphere. Darker, moodier, and old-world than the photos appear. We personally enjoyed the character, but future guests should know it feels more antique and eerie than bright and airy. Beautiful grounds, but a few things didn’t match the price point. The TVs did not have DirecTV connected. We don’t necessarily depend on TV, but simple background (even briefly in the mornings) would have been helpful for our children. For a stay at this rate, we expected either working service or someone sent to resolve it rather than only an apology. We did have an unexpected interaction at the gate with a woman who repeatedly questioned whether we had actually booked the property and suggested we might only be using the yard or pool. We confirmed multiple times that we had rented the house. She later explained she was there to do laundry at the smaller establishment next the to estate we reserved and apologized, but the situation felt intrusive and avoidable with clearer staff communication. Especially since she seemed to find it difficult to fathom we had in fact reserved a weekend stay there for no earthly reason I could find. The master bathroom grout could use a thorough cleaning — it appears intended to be white but currently looks black and mildewed, which stood out in an otherwise nice space. The animals were a wonderful touch, the kitchen appliances were helpful, fireplaces kept the house cozy. We loved our stay, but for the cost we expected smoother management and upkeep
