Unfortunately, the home was way off the beaten path and did not realize how far it was out until we were able to get the address and directions from the property manager a few days before our trip. It took us 45 to 60 minutes to get out to the main area and be able to go to all of the parks and beach that we wanted to. Very windy road up the mountain and then the property is in the trees, so there are no views from the property to enjoy the valley. On arrival, the floors were filthy and were told that they are vacuumed and mopped before each new guest so they were going to change the mopheads. Just wasn’t as comfortable or in a location convenient to our needs.
It's a pleasant cabin off a backroad in Carmel Valley. The place was clean and tidy. The cabin is a good size for a small family with 1 or 2 kids. The hot tub is big enough for 2 adults and a kid or two. The single bathroom is outside both bedrooms so it can be accessed by anyone. They also area where you can play cornhole. You can turn on the lights at night and it makes the place even more charming. We came as a couple with our service dog. We were glad we didn't invite any other friends to come along even if there were two bedrooms as the place is very intimate and all the spaces are a pretty compact size. It's pretty secluded so it's best to have everything you need before you get up there. The town is 20 minutes away. Some people in the reviews mentioned that the road going up there is pretty sketchy. I agree at night it might be an issue, so I would advise coming in and out before sunset, especially if it's your first time there. My only advice to the property manager is to adjust their check-in and out times. 4PM is pretty late, especially for something that is readily available to be occupied. Also, 10AM is pretty early. I think a 3PM check-in and 11AM check-out time is more industry standard.
This was the perfect hideaway for our romantic weekend away from home. The amenities were great, place was clean and comfortable. Directions were accurate and useful. Fair warning, coming out of the driveway is a bit of a challenge, especially if you're not used to mountain driving or limited forward visibility over the hood.
loved the property location, was cool. the only negative was the drive up and down the mountain. approx 50 min one way to carmel. The house was neat and clean and the outside area was awesome!!
Awesome stay - magical unique location.
We loved our stay in this house in the middle of the oaks. It had all we needed for a quiet stay in nature. Well equipped and with some extras like coffee and olive oil which were very appreciated. Jacuzzi out in the patio under the oaks is beautiful and the lights at night make it very enchanting.
Enjoyed our week at Carmel Valley Villa. The house gave us the privacy and quiet out of the way location we were looking for.
Very comfortable and clean property with beautiful views all around. We enjoyed staying at this wonderful property nestled in the valley. You won’t be disappointed if you want a private getaway!
The actual property was fine, but be aware there are ticks. One got on my dog and another on my son within 10 min of arrival. My main issue was Cachagua Rd being listed as the primary way to reach the property. It is extremely narrow with no guard rails, has mile after mile of hairpin turns, sections tarped off the side for erosion, passes an expanse of landscape charred by a wildfire, drops down to one lane a few times with little warning, tons of locals driving like crazy, and terrifying drop all the way. My husband was trained to drive by his UPS long haul trucker dad and he was shaken. The idea that someone could arrive in the dark or have anything bigger than a compact is really scary. Tassajara is also windy, but much safer. We saw a lot of wildlife on that road (turkeys, deer, woodpeckers, vultures).
We enjoyed our stay although it was a bit far from town. The property was great though and enjoyed ourselves.
