You'll feel right at home the moment you arrive at the ‘Hudson House.'
Built in 1928 and rented since then, this original Adirondack tourist home pairs modern day comforts with age-old charm to create a getaway that is as delightful as it is convenient.
This gracious home has 4,100 square feet of living space that maintains its historic charm while incorporating modern updates and brand new furnishings.
Open the door to find a beautiful main floor with a gourmet kitchen, bedroom, bathroom, and multiple conversation areas. Refuel the crew with a home-cooked feast. The gourmet kitchen is fully equipped with stainless steel appliances and ample space to assist with any dish. Set out appetizers on the large island before the main course is served in the dining room. Relax after dinner in the gathering room - where comfortable couches surround the locally mined Garnet rock gas fireplace and a flat-screen TV. Or, retreat out front to the expansive porch to put your feet up with a glass of wine or cup of coffee and watch the river.
Our younger (or young at heart) guests can also move the fun downstairs to the fully furnished basement to watch a movie on the flat-screen TV or engage in a friendly game of ping pong in the adjacent room.
The basement also contains one very special renovation done with skiers, hikers, rafters and adventurers in mind. The “Rack Room” is a large, climate controlled, area with ski/snowboard racks, clothes drying racks, cubbies, hooks for camping gear, washer/dryer and ample seating for gearing up. Accessible directly from the back porch, guests can store all of their gear downstairs without cluttering up bedrooms or bathrooms on the main levels.
When your day in the mountains is complete, go up the original staircase to our 5 second floor bedrooms. Each bedroom is as unique as the ski runs they are named after with 3 Queen beds, 1 King bed, and a white birch bunk bed. Two more bathrooms provide guests with a luxurious choice between the “Moose” walk-in shower or a relaxing soak in the antique tub. Finally, the third-floor attic loft has two twin beds (with space for an additional 2 twin air mattresses). Add window seats and a sitting area with a TV and you have the perfect space for our younger guests to claim as “their own clubhouse.”
The appeal of the ‘Hudson House’ does not end indoors. Each season brings its own unique beauty to the ‘Hudson House” property. Be sure to explore our 2 acres of backyard woods where the only sounds are the trickling creeks and crunching leaves. Nice day outside Change up your usual routine with a picnic in the Adirondack Summer House, a walk on our trail or just sit on a rock overlooking Raymond Brook with a camera in hand. The property also extends across the street to the Hudson River. Our private riverbank access has gorgeous views of the water and lots of places to dip in your toes.
Having a large family our choices of houses are limited. The Hudson House exceeded our expectations! Thank you so much!
We absolutely loved staying at your beautiful home. We made lots of amazing memories with the tubing down the river , going to the top of Gore mountain , and relaxing by the fire at night sharing everyone’s high/low of the day !! It suited our large family perfectly and was very clean and a well stocked kitchen was great to have !! Thank you also for always getting back to me with any questions that we had … the only thing that was a little scary was the road and how fast people go but there were lots of breaks in between the cars so we could cross ….thanx again !
Nicely updated, well maintained, beautiful house. Everything is well organized and the owner makes it easy to stay there. Everything clean from top to bottom. Peaceful walks in the back yard. Dunkley falls/black hole for swimming nearby is a must. The front porch is perfect for coffee or just relaxing all day. Road in front of the house has some speed demons so be careful crossing. Owner gives great directions for all aspects of the stay so no confusion on what you need to do. Highly recommend :)
We had a great time. It was a direct route to Lake George where we went most days. Kids had a good time in playroom. Bedding was very comfortable.
Our group had a great time. Owner was very responsive.
From booking to the end of our stay at the Hudson House, Nancy was extremely helpful and accommodating. The house and property are well maintained. The house makes you feel at home, very cozy atmosphere. Thank you for sharing your beautiful home with us.
This is our second stay at the Hudson House. We love the location, so close to Gore Mountain. Nancy is a fantastic host and her home is so well equipped with everything we need, particularly in the kitchen. Makes planning meals so much easier! And whoever she has as a cleaning service deserves extra props because the house is spotless. We hope to be back again next year!
We had an amazing time at The Hudson House were a group of 12 of us enjoyed the scenic riding in upstate NY. The house had everything we needed and more. Plenty of bedrooms and bathrooms to suit all of our needs. The gear room in the basement is great for unloading your gear after a long day of riding. Would definitely recommend and will absolutely be back. Thanks Nancy.
Great house to do a large family vacation.
We enjoyed a great week exploring the Lake George area and the Adirondacks using the Hudson House as our home base! The house was large enough for our group of 8 adults and 9 children to either spread out for some quiet time away from the group, or get together as a whole group for breakfast, dinner, S'mores, movies, or game nights. The kitchen was well stocked with almost every gadget one might need. The basement was the perfect spot to set up a game console for the older kids to unwind at night. The porch was a great spot to watch over the river while enjoying breakfast. There are some incredible hiking spots within a 15 minute drive, as well as some amazing activities that weren't even on our radar until we checked in. The homeowner was very thorough with her check-in procedures, as well as in communicating about some of the quirks that come with living in a historic home. All in all, we had a great time, and would absolutely consider returning for a future extended family vacation!
We are from Michigan and brought 35 kids to the Word of Life Camp Facilities in Pottersville & Schroon Lake, New York. We needed a place for 11 adults and 1 infant to stay and this worked out perfectly. We thank the owner for all of her help and want her to know that her beautiful was refreshing and very relaxing! Thank you!
