Our cottage is a cozy, clean, waterfront property that comfortably sleeps four. The location is central to Pemaquid Point light House Park, Galleries, and the Seagull Restaurant, all of which can be reached within a 10 minute walk. Pemaquid Beach is 3 miles away and Shaws Lobster Wharf is approximately 4 miles away and where you can catch the Hardy Boat tours. Damariscotta is a twenty minute drive and has restaurants, shops, cafe bookstore, library and movie theater. Kayaking rentals and walking trails are nearby our cottage as well. Historic Fort William Henry and Contented Sole Restaurant are 3 1/2 miles away (near Pemaquid Beach). Riley's Grocery store is 2 miles from the cottage and offers many amenities such as prepared foods, fresh meats, fish, and produce.
George & Dorothy were attentive, very pleasant and easy to deal with. We had a great time just relaxing. Their home is completely updated and the new layout is perfect. The location on Pemaquid Point and their large grassy yard down to the ocean are Maine at its best. If you love an ocean view, especially one with at sun set it is nothing short of spectacular. We totally enjoyed the house We found the owners easy to deal with. Very pleasant and accommodating.
The listing for this property when we booked it last September read “Summer 2022 prices reflect renovations.” Those renovations were to include a second bathroom, a new washer/dryer, and an updated kitchen. Imagine our disappointment to learn in July of this year, too late to change our plans, that the washer/dryer was not working, with the owner suggesting we instead could use the laundromat in the town 14 miles away. Then we discovered on arrival that the shower in the 2nd bathroom was not operable. In addition, the sink drain in the new bathroom was stuck shut and the toilet tank in the other bathroom would not fill after use. When I called the owner George Dorr to complain and to suggest a discount in the rental price because the cottage was not as advertised, I was subject to a verbal tirade by his wife Dorothy Dorr for my complaining. Not the way to start a relaxing vacation week. I have given the cottage 3 stars because the view from the deck and dining room window were beautiful and the kitchen was indeed updated, although we did not do any cooking. But our welcome left a sour taste in our mouths.
Clean, but bath and laundry incomplete.. As well as other unfinished parts. Had people driving onto grass to public access. People in our hammock, found one couple walking their dogs in our yard when we returned home one night. Plus the entire neighborhood did not just use access to get to the waterfront, they would set up camp right in front of our house everyday and mad my boys feel uncomfortable using our own beach/rocks. I understand waterfront is public, but all other properties I've rented the people just passed through. Just not what I expected for the price.
Thank you so much for the use of your cottage at Pemaquid Point last week. It was picture perfect while I made believe I lived in Maine and enjoyed the surrounding communities. I even got to have lunch at The Seagull Shop & Restaurant, making my stay complete. The lighthouse and coast of Pemaquid is my favorite spot in all of Maine.
Property was just as advertised. Cozy & comfortable, all the amenities we needed. Spent most of our time outside on the Adirondack chairs reading. I did my morning walk to the lighthouse & Pemaquid Loop Road. I enjoyed the gallery that’s less than a half a mile from cottage and almost daily trips to Harbor ice cream. But again most of our stay was spent beachcombing and enjoying the beauty of the Maine coast- thank you for a beautiful stay
We had a delightful week in the cottage in August 2021. George and Dorothy were so easy to communicate with, both through the messaging platform and their openness from sharing their email and phone numbers. The cottage has an exceptional location nearly at the tip of Pemaquid Point. Right on the water, with outstanding sunsets seen from the deck or the picture-window every evening. We swam from the rocks when the tide was right as well! It was a warm week, and we appreciated how the cottage cooled off at night and the fans came in handy as well. The home had everything we needed for a comfortable and easy stay. Very thoughtfully appointed. We loved our time there!
The location of the house was fabulous with a clear view to the ocean/bay. Just what we were looking for. The house was as advertised, vintage. It had a lot of older furniture and wallpaper. There was plenty of seating in a nice, bright sunroom with great views. Overall, we had a wonderful vacation in this charming home.
We found the cottage exactly as described and all its charm from circa 1957 delightful. Even better though is the deck with uninterrupted view of the rocky shore. The location provides privacy and also access to what we wanted - privacy, the sea, daily walks, and within reasonable drives a range of coastal Maine activities.
There is nothing bad to say about the location of this cute cottage. It is quiet and relaxing just watching the water and waiting for the sunset; something we desperately needed. It is a bit of a blast from the past but very clean. We hope to stay again next year. We are hoping there will be a replacement/updated tv for next year as it is quite old, the sound fades a bit, and it is not compatible if you want to bring a fire stick or other current tv options. Also the bed was a bit saggy for someone with some back problems. However it will probably not keep us from renting again.
