Stayed Jul 8, 2022Our experience was really uncomfortable and perhaps this review will help the owners make improvements and potential renters make better choices. Rentals in Tahoe are really expensive and this location is no exception. We rented for a full week and were hoping for a higher quality experience at this price point. When we arrived, there a few bugs on the sheets and pillows. Throughout our stay we found more in the bathrooms and crawling on the walls of the bedrooms. I found a small worm on my laptop computer. We took care to make sure the screen doors and windows were always closed so the problem wouldn't get worse. This house has no air conditioning, which we hadn't realized. Luckily the owners have placed ceiling and floor fans throughout the house which really helped. We were exhausted from a long day of traveling and a late night arrival and turned on fans when we arrived. The kids slept upstairs but were woken around 4am when the ceiling fan in the main living area started making a screeching noise. We all woke up and I turned it off. It seems to work for a couple hours without any issues but if it is allowed to run overnight, it starts making terrible noise. This house has 2 bathrooms, each with a bathtub/shower combo. The bathtubs have no traction mats which makes it really difficult to shower. I slipped a couple times and luckily was able to catch myself but it was scary. The downstairs shower has VERY low water pressure, even when it's the only water source being used. The upstairs shower water pressure was fine. At some point in the past there must have been a water leak from the downstairs bathroom because a significant amount of water is trapped beneath the vinyl floorboards in the bathroom and adjacent hallway. There is a noticeable squelch when you walk in those areas and water damage was noticeable beneath the hallway rug. Even though we were staying for a week, the only shower/bath soap that was provided was a tiny hotel-size bar. We had to buy our own soap. Again, at this price point I had hoped for an easier experience. This house has a dishwasher but we ran out of dishwasher detergent. Most of the ceiling lights are regulated by a remote that also controls ceiling fans. In addition, there are light switches on the walls but the switches either enable or disable power to the ceiling fan. It's confusing. There were also lamps in the bedrooms but we couldn't get them to come on with their switches.
