FWD or AWD is a must in winter. Front wheel drive with chains may be adequate with good vehicle snow clearance. Please look up CO traction laws. https://www.codot.gov/travel/winter-driving/tractionlaw
It’s high up here so be ready to acclimate to the altitude.
The things we liked about this place were- owners were accessible and welcoming, remote location, amenities, comfortable beds, 2 decks, some great hiking trails and 13/14ers nearby, and it’s a quiet area. We will definitely look to rent this place when we return to the area! Next year, we will hopefully have our dog trained to go up steps or a ramp into our truck and bring him along. Thank you for opening up your home to us!
The 11,000 ft altitude mountain house is well furnished and surrounded by trees, and the night sky close enough to touch the stars, a bit of a bumpy road but simply incredible and well worth it. Close to Fairplay (south of Breckenridge) with options to drive through majestic mountain countryside to small unique towns like Buena Vista and Leadville. Any questions the host will answer immediately.
Great experience, loved the house. Perfect distance from skiing.
We really enjoyed our stay at the Puma house. It had the little touches that make one feel at home, for instance, a tissue box in the bathrooms, bedrooms and living room. This may sound silly to some, but having a tissue close at hand was great. When we first booked this house we had intentions of doing some hiking, but the weather had different plans for us. But it was fine, we played board and card games while listening to the crackling of the fireplace. We truly enjoyed our stay.
I and my wife really enjoyed our stay at this wonderful property. The hostess was very accommodating. The property was very well stocked with supplies (tissues, toilet paper, trash bags, etc). Also the kitchen was well stocked with cookware and dishes. There were plenty towels, linens, bath soaps, etc. Well Done!!!
Great experience. The road leading up to the house is very bumpy, but we made it work!
We really enjoyed our stay. The puma place is great for a couple or family and is truly in solitude - I think we counted less than five cars or people driving by while we were there. It was awesome walking around the neighborhood and good access to hiking (and fourteneers.) It is pretty high in elevation, so just be prepared for that. Would recommend and we hope to come back.
I mostly stayed at the cabin. Didn't get to see much wild life. A little low on eating utensils.
It was the perfect little cabin and not too far from town.
Perfect family house!
The host was very helpful and the house is fairly close to town. Local towns are great to explore!
Puma Pad in The Valley of the Sun was a wonderful place to decompress for a long weekend! Susanne was very helpful with the few questions we had and always available. Our dog, Gus had a fun time also!
