THINGS TO KNOW
Kayaks, paddleboards, and pontoon boats can be rented from a local service from Memorial Week-Thanksgiving. A discount may apply on pontoon boat rentals with your TurnKey reservation.
Lake Lure is a man made lake that is drawn down 12 feet each winter season for maintenance. This will impact shorelines. Water will be back up to normal levels in mid April.
Lake Lure notice: Pontoon boats and non-motorized vessels may be no longer than 28 feet. All other boats, such as ski boats, fishing boats, deck boats, etc., may be no longer than 21 feet.
Rumbling Bald Resort requires guests 12 and older to show their guest pass to use amenities. Passes will be at the property upon arrival. There is a $50 fee if any passes are lost.
If you are bringing a dog on your trip, the nightly pet fee is already included in your quote when selecting "Yes" to pets. If you would like to add more dogs, please contact us. The nightly fee ranges between $150 and $200, depending on the bedroom count, and will apply for each additional dog.

This house is located at the north end of Lake Lure and was central to things we did. Got in a hike at Chimney Rock and another hike about two miles from the house. Ran over to Hendersonville to check out the town and visited Point Lookout Vineyard, then had dinner in Rutherfordton. Did not get a chance to take advantage of the Rumbling Bald club amenities, but can see how those would be very convenient. Bedrooms, master bath, and living areas are huge! View is fantastic from either level. Cooked our breakfasts and one dinner using the spacious and well stocked cabinets and drawers. Vacasa made it a very easy experience.
Very upscale home with quality furnishings - it looks just like the pictures! The two living areas allowed our group to spread out. The house was very clean. The Rumbling Bald Resort was the top selling point for this property. We hung out on the beach, rented a pontoon boat, fished in the private lake, played tennis, and ate at Legends. The golf courses looked great - will bring clubs next time. The VACASA customer interface is weak. The property description did not include nearby gas station, grocery stores, or restaurants. It took 4 tries to eventually get that information. The diswasher stopped working which I reported to the provided number. I finally received a followup call 23 hours later asking about the problem with the clothes washer. I spent 30 minutes on hold to the help number and finally hung up. I had a similar problem contacting a human before our stay. There is almost no information on what is available in the house which would have reduced what we had to bring such as night lights, battery lights in case of power outages, etc. There are way too many serving utensils - many duplicates - in the kitchen which made it hard to find what was needed. I doubt all these utensils and serving items are cleaned between guests. Don't let the difficulty communicating with VACASA keep you from considering this property.
Perfect for a family vacation.
This home lives large. A huge 180 degree panorama of bald mountain and the valley below . A large great room on the main floor with amazing kitchen, dining table and lounge. A cavernous downstairs living area with two story fireplace. Best of all are the sliding glass doors on both living areas and all three bedrooms opening to the great outdoors. This home is the total cure for cabin fever. It is more like cabin utopia.
We loved the incredible views, the soft beds and the coziness of this great house!
[Feedback by the wife]: For the hubby's big round birthday, he chose this mountaintop home with sensational views for an 11 day stay, and it was well beyond expectations. Photos do not do the views justice. The home was clean, comfortable, and well furnished. The road is a mountain road, steep and twisty but drive-able. We mostly enjoyed sitting on the decks and walking the road loop, and only made three trips down the mountain - for groceries, for a side trip to Chimney Rock, and sadly to leave. Definitely his favorite mountain home to date, and I bet we return someday. Highly recommend.
Amazing views from all the decks with all the amenities and space anyone/any group could need. Access to the resort was an added plus with plenty of facilities to play and explore Lake Lure.
My family and I loved this house. The view was amazing and the house was very comfortable and easy to live in. The mountain road getting to the house was definitely challenging but doable if you were expecting it. The view made it worth it.
Breathtaking views & nicely updated mountain home for our family of 6 we had plenty of room for even a few more if needed.
We absolutely loved this home. It has a really neat layout, nicely stocked kitchen, porches with amazing views, and very comfortable beds (which is always high on our list). The Rumbling Bald Resort was such a nice bonus. We spent a lot of time there at the indoor pool, pickleball, golf course, yard games, lake/beach and covered area for our lunches. If the permanent passes aren’t there which was our case, you can get temporary ones at customer service inside of Legends. We had a few glitches with a broken toilet and the guest passes but the rental company replied to texts and tried to help us. I was worried about the roads after reading some of the other reviews because a few of us in my family get motion sick. But we took it slow and were totally fine. And my minivan did fine getting there. Could be tricky in snow and ice but not any other time of year. We would love to return to this home and Spring Break was the perfect time to be here.
