The Space:

Welcome to Pine Cone Cabin, your fully remodeled 3-bedroom, 2-bath retreat designed for comfort and connection. Nestled in a dense pine forest, this home thoughtfully blends modern finishes with a cozy cabin feel, creating a space that’s both stylish and welcoming.

Key Features:

Guest Access:

Guests can park conveniently off the street on the driveway. You’ll have your own private entrance for easy and secure access to the home. Please note that there is no garage available for guest use.

The Neighborhood:

Kachina Village is a quiet mountain community just 10 minutes south of downtown Flagstaff. Surrounded by the Coconino National Forest, it offers a peaceful retreat with the convenience of being close to the city. Guests love the easy access to hiking trails, fishing at nearby lakes, and exploring the winding forest roads right from the neighborhood.

The area has a relaxed, rustic vibe with tall ponderosa pines and plenty of fresh mountain air. While it feels like a secluded getaway, you’re only a short drive from Flagstaff’s restaurants, breweries, and shops, as well as day trips to Sedona, Oak Creek Canyon, and the Grand Canyon.

Kachina Village is ideal for travelers seeking both tranquility and adventure, offering the perfect balance of quiet forest living and access to Northern Arizona’s top attractions.

Getting Around:

The best way to explore Flagstaff and the surrounding Northern Arizona attractions is by car. While Flagstaff does have public transit and ride-share options, many of the area’s highlights—such as the Grand Canyon, Sedona, Snowbowl, Walnut Canyon, and countless hiking trails—are easiest to reach when you have your own vehicle. A car allows you to enjoy the flexibility of mountain drives, day trips, and exploring at your own pace. Streets are easy to navigate, and most destinations offer convenient parking. We do recommend a car with 4WD/AWD during extreme winter conditions.

Other Things to Note:

✅ This property has special local compliance requirements which include a signed rental agreement, ID verification, and a security hold of $1000 (which is not a traditional security deposit, just a pending transaction). As an optional alternative to the security hold, you may opt in to purchase a non-refundable damage waiver provided by a third-party insurance company. The optional damage waiver is $65 for stays up to 10 nights, with an additional $2 per day for stays longer than 10 nights. Damage waiver purchases are optional.

To make this process easy for you, we use a secure and very simple, app-free platform called Happy Guest. It is not an app, and you do not have to sign up for an account - it’s a safe and secure website. It also gives you a guest portal with all the info about the home and all of my favorite local spots.

Your guest portal includes advertisements with third-party upgrades that you may want to enhance your stay. These upgrades are optional and include:

Early Check-in - $25/hr

Pet Policy: We welcome well-behaved pets! A $75 per pet, per stay fee applies. Please clean up after your pet and keep them off furniture.

Early check-in is subject to availability at the sole discretion of the host.

Early check-in availability is determined on the day of arrival.

Late Check-Out Policy

We kindly ask all guests to adhere to our check-out time as we are unable to accommodate late check-outs. This allows us sufficient time to prepare the property for the next guests and maintain our high standards of cleanliness and readiness. Guests who stay beyond our standard check-out time of 10:00 AM will incur a fee of $50 per hour. This charge helps offset the disruption to our cleaning schedule, ensuring the property is ready and welcoming for incoming guests.

The driveway becomes inaccessible in winter, so please be prepared to park only at the top landing if you're visiting during snowy months. The home is best suited for guests with no more than two vehicles.

Snow & Winter Weather Policy

Flagstaff experiences significant winter weather, and we want to ensure our guests are well-prepared for snow-related conditions. Please read this policy carefully, as it outlines what is covered and what is not regarding cancellations, travel disruptions, and snow management during your stay.

What IS Covered (Eligible for Refunds/Rescheduling)

The following events qualify for cancellation or rescheduling outside of our standard cancellation policy:

1. Government-Mandated Travel Restrictions

✅ If a government agency issues a mandatory road closure or evacuation order that prevents access to the property.

✅ This must be an official order, not just a recommendation or travel advisory.

2. Large-Scale Utility Outages

✅ If a prolonged power, water, or heating outage occurs due to winter storms, impacting the majority of homes in the area.

✅ Minor disruptions or short-term outages that are common during storms do not qualify.

If one of these covered events occurs, guests may be eligible for a refund, rescheduling, or a credit for a future stay, at our discretion.

What is NOT Covered (Standard Cancellation Policy Applies)

The following situations are not covered by this policy, meaning refunds or rescheduling will not be granted unless they fall under our normal cancellation policy:

1. Personal Travel Issues Due to Weather

❌ If snow or ice makes it difficult for you to drive but roads remain open.

❌ Flight delays, cancellations, or rental car unavailability due to weather.

❌ Choosing not to travel because of a snowstorm or potential bad weather.

2. Lack of Proper Vehicle Equipment

❌ Guests are responsible for ensuring they have a 4WD/AWD vehicle and snow chains (when required).

❌ If you are unable to reach the property due to inadequate vehicle preparation, this will not be grounds for a refund.

3. Local Snow Accumulation or Plowing Delays

❌ Our team will ensure the driveway and main pathways are cleared before check-in. However, additional snowfall during your stay is not a covered event.

❌ Plowing schedules are subject to weather conditions, and delays in plowing are not eligible for refunds.

Guest Responsibilities

Travel with a 4WD/AWD vehicle and carry snow chains if required.

Check weather and road conditions before departing for your trip.

Be prepared to shovel walkways or vehicles if snow falls during your stay (shovels are provided).

Contact us if you experience any issues so we can assist with local resources.

Final Notes

Landscaping, trash pickup, and spa maintenance (if applicable) may take place during your stay. These routine services help keep the property in top condition and should not cause any disruption.

By booking, guests acknowledge and accept this Snow & Winter Weather Policy and understand that refunds outside of our cancellation policy are at the host's discretion.

If you have any questions or concerns before or during your stay, please reach out.

Interaction with Guests:

We respect our guests' privacy and offer a self-check-in process. While we will not be present at the property during your stay, we are always available via the booking platform or phone if you need any assistance or have questions.

Perfect size for our party of seven and nicely decorated. Would strongly recommend more than just one extra roll of toilet paper since we ran out and had to go purchase. Maybe a few more plates, a cheese grater and extra frying pan would have also been appreciated. All in all, I'd go back and also recommend.

House was exactly as advertised, and we were so grateful to have a place just cozy enough to do Thanksgiving with our kids at NAU. Very clean and well maintained location with lots of walking paths. The dog loved it too! Only about 15 minutes from Flagstaff so easy to get anything we needed!

This was the perfect place to stay for exploring Arizona with our three grandsons - exceptionally clean, comfortable and perfectly located. Going north to Antelope Canyon for a day, hiking the trails in Coconino National Forest and Sedona, swimming at Slide Rock, exploring nearby national monuments, and then “home” to Pinecone Cabin- a quiet retreat with all amenities. We highly recommend!!

We were in town for a soccer tournament, and this was the perfect spot for us! We had a cozy cabin in the woods and we were just 10 from town. The kids enjoyed exploring and hiking the area and we really enjoyed the games and especially the puzzles! We cooked almost every day and particularly enjoyed dining on the patio deck. We would love to book again in the future if it's available. Thank you!

We had a great time at Carl’s cabin! Beds were comfy and the deck is great! We loved that there were some toys and books for our 1 and 3 year old - huge plus! Only downside is that the house seemed short on towels.. plenty of bath towels, but no washcloths or kitchen towels available. We purchased a kitchen towel and left it there. Not a huge deal, easy to work around! We would definitely stay again. Thanks Carl!

Cabin was clean and nice. Well equipped for cooking as we wanted to save some money by cooking in. Nice balcony to relax in. Even some baby toumys and games for all ages. Great for families. Dog friendy (30 added fee) however it would have been nice if there was a gate at the top of the stairs so we could let them hang outside without worrying. But overall still a nice place that we would rent again. Also, address does not match google maps. Its shows the house a bit off (and the picture on google maps is wrong) so make sure to turn into the street the owner provides.

Went up to flagstaff for a quick weekend trip and this cabin was perfect for our family. We traveled with a 2, 6 and 15 year old and it had plenty of space for everybody to enjoy their time. It was clean and had everything we needed. Check in and check out was a breeze and communication was quick and easy. Also loved the small touches like the fall decor. It felt so cozy! We had a quick get-away at Pinecone Cabin. It was a very nicely appointed home with up-to-date appliances, fixtures, and decor. We brought our fur-buddies with us, and they loved the outdoor area (but it's not fenced - there is a small fenced in area if your pups are runners). The location is great among the tall pines and a straight 10 to 12-minute shot up I-17 into the main commercial area of Flagstaff (NAU campus, Target, Sprouts, restaurants, etc.). We'll definitely stay again.

Kachina Village is an eclectic neighborhood of nice and not so nice cabins which we knew going in. We felt safe and comfortable there. Loved the decor, and the back patio, but we could not figure out how to use the A/C and the fireplace. The kitchen is very poorly stocked. There were only two of us and we didn't have enough dishes, silverware, and no ice or foil, etc.
