Homer, Alaska
Welcome to the Grand View Retreat, where 30 foot walls of windows bring iconic views of Kachemak Bay, the Alaskan Mountains, Cooks Inlet, Dixon Glacier, Portlock Glacier, Grewingk Glacier, and the famous Homer Spit right into your living room. At night the moonlight casts shadows on the water and mountain peaks, and lights glowing on the nearby Homer Spit fill the sky.
Three living rooms, three view decks, a chef’s kitchen, parking for ten and 5,200 sq. ft. of indoor space provide plenty of area for the entire extended family and friends to relax and unwind after a day catching their limit of halibut or salmon, hiking Kachemak Bay’s gorgeous trails, or taking a trip on the Danny-J wooden ferry to Gull Island and Halibut Cove across the bay. After socializing with your group, enjoy some quiet time in one of the 6 private bedrooms and clean up in one of the 4 bathrooms, including two with ensuite 2 person jacuzzi tubs. With so many unique spaces the Grand View Retreat is Homer's #1 destination for both family game nights and romantic getaways, expansive views and cozy retreats.
The Chalet is located just 9 miles outside Homer, the Halibut Capital of the World and a renowned artist and foodie haven. Being just outside of town means you can safely view Alaskan wildlife from the 3 expansive wood decks in the Chalet, including bears, our resident moose family, and bald eagles; or walk along the Spit and look for seals, otters, and the occasional whale. Your friendly and knowledgeable hosts have owned and operated the Grand View Retreat since 2005, and are available by phone or email 24/7. We hope you enjoy your stay in the most unforgettable property in Homer!
*Notes: The Cozy Corner Cabin (a studio attached cabin) is rented separately from the Grand View Resort, and is on the same property.

We were a family of 11-parents, adult kids and 2 grandkids and rented the whole house to give us plenty of room for everyone. When you walk in the views really do take your breath away! Our weather wasn't the best but even on a rainy day you had the beautiful views overlooking the mountains and the water. The home is a well built, custom home, very spacious and well cared for with a fully stocked kitchen. The kids loved having their own hang out space in the upstairs loft! Plenty of parking, 10-15 min to town. Excellent communication from the owner. This home with its vaulted ceilings and stunning views are what you think of when you imagine an Alaskan rental!
This was by far the most fabulous trip we have been on! The house is spacious, clean and well stocked. We were blessed with amazing weather our entire stay which translated into post card views daily! We had 7 different moose visit us including a mom and a baby! We will be back for sure and will stay here again! Lynn
Great locations just outside Homer, large common spaces to hang out.
We really enjoyed our stay! From drinking coffee on one of the decks in the morning to relaxing and playing games in the main living area after a day of exploring, hiking, adventuring, or for cooking breakfast, the house had everything we needed — with spectacular views! We also really loved watching the moose who visited regularly. There was space for the 11 of us to also have a little time apart when needed. Great stay!
Fantastic views and lovely home! Easy to feel like home. Very nice floor plan and always a place to escape for a little privacy with extra living rooms. There wasn’t a thing the louse lacked for us! Wonderful place for family reunion! Loved it! ?
The Grandview exceeded our expectations. The house had plenty of room for our group of 9. Perfect distance from the spit and the view is amazing. The nearby Fritz Creek store had what we didn’t bring. We even golfed nearby, fun little par 3. I would highly recommend this property for a large family. I could sit on that deck all day:)
Great views great location great layout, Beautiful home. neighbors barking dogs made sleeping a bit of a challenge some nights other than that a great place to vacation
We thought we were getting two hot tubs for all to soak in but were in individual bedrooms So no group soaking Bottom bedrooms were noisy due to the washer and dryer and the water pump in the other running at times
We were a multigenerational group of seven and this property was fantastic for providing adequate group gathering space as well as bedroom space so each could have their own. The view from the main living space was incredible, you could not ask for more. Viewing wildlife in your yard was exhilarating and rewarding especially for the Grandchildren. This place is fantastic
Great for family vacation. Even has a high chair and baby gates toys a cooler we used for fishing, we cooked a big pot of chilli in the beautiful kitchen. If you consider the loft for a bedroom it’s an open area though:)
Very comfortable and beautiful home. Some of the best views.
