Waimea, Hawaii
Exquisite Oceanfront Luxury Home on Puako Beach Drive Big Island Hawaii. 115 FT Oceanfront.
This 4,500 square foot, grand elegant Puako oceanfront home is a rare find for its privacy, luxury and location. This first class estate home, with 115 feet of oceanfront, is unique to the area, since many oceanfront homes on Puako Beach Drive are old classic cottages. The town of Puako on the Kohala Coast is one of the top destinations in Hawaii for a true experience of paradise. Come discover your Aloha.
Tranquility will greet you at the front gate, as you enter a private tropical yard, which is enclosed with a lava rock wall and lush, tropical landscaping. The gardens offer an abundance of Plumeria flowers, red torch ginger blossoms, fruit trees and coconut palms.
Directly in front of the house discover some of the best snorkeling and diving conditions in the world. Sea turtles and tropical fish are a regular sight as you explore the underwater paradise. If you prefer to enjoy the turquoise, crystal clear waters from the surface, this home supplies you with stand up paddle boards and kayaks so you can become one with nature, while the others can watch from the lanai while listening to slack key guitar on the outdoor speakers. A few steps away is Paniau Beach for additional turtle watching, swimming and water sports.
Glorious Oceanfront and Outdoor Living
This prestigious, luxury home is designed to let the ocean environment envelope you while lounging on the enormous lanai. Enjoy the abundant sunshine and tranquil atmosphere of the blue Pacific ocean from the living, dining and kitchen areas as the home’s combined 96-feet of disappearing walls open up to the ocean vistas, gardens, and all lanais. Gaze at the Big Island’s famous volcanic mountaintops to the east and the island of Maui on the horizon.
Next, ease into the blue pacific for fun and total relaxation. Enjoy the sight of Hawaii’s humpback whales or spinner dolphins playing along the Puako coastline, while you bask in the sun and sophisticated luxury. Whale watching in the winter is truly spectacular from this home’s vantage point. You will be mesmerized as they breech over and over again while the mothers teach their calves how to leap and dive. It’s better than a National Geographic documentary!
The large, beautiful lawn surrounds the property to expand the barbecue crowd or provide plenty of room for outdoor games so the kids (or your inner kid) can romp and play. The smooth-stone, outdoor shower awaits your sandy feet after an ocean swim or a long day at the beach. Or allow us to schedule you a massage therapist to visit you at the home for the ultimate experience in seaside relaxation.
You will plan your evenings around the breathtaking views of the year round colorful sunsets and you may even be lucky enough to see the famous "green flash." Capture breathtaking sunset photos every night to remember your time in paradise.
After the sunset, hone your astronomy skills with Mana Kai’s own telescope, as Mother Earth embraces you with star-studded skies and shooting stars all while you listen to the soothing ocean waves lap across the lava.
Luxurious Indoor
The home features a gourmet kitchen for the chefs among you to enjoy the ocean view and sway to Hawaiian island tunes while preparing your meals. It has everything you need to prepare your meals… or just relax while you hire one of our private chefs to impress you with their own local culinary masterpiece. The kitchen is completely equipped with beautiful dishware and cookware to feed a full house in any of three dining areas indoors or out.
Beautiful island style décor and art adorn the home. Mahogany sliding pocket doors disappear to create the perfect open air venue for entertaining and enjoying the home’s close integration with the land and sea. Other features include vaulted ceilings with uplit soffits, a museum-quality, world class shell collection, travertine floors and so much more. The house was designed by a leading Hawaiian architect to channel the flow of the trade winds. Although air conditioning will keep you comfortable in the bedrooms in the evenings should the trade winds stop blowing, on all but the hottest days each year the ocean breezes and ceiling fans provide the perfect temperature to enjoy this tropical paradise and still allow the sound of the waves to lure you to sleep.
All bedrooms feature stunning ocean views and flat screen tvs. The two master suites upstairs offer superior privacy on opposite ends of the house and feature private lanai balconies and gorgeous en-suite bathrooms. The two downstairs connected rooms (private door) share a spacious bath and each room leads directly to the large downstairs lanai.
In the evening, you may want to unwind in the media room with a book or enjoy the 55-inch flat screen television with premium cable, movie channels and surround sound.
Should you need to reach the outside world, the home is equipped with a high-speed, wireless internet connection. A private office upstairs supplies two separate desks and a laser printer if you must bring your work with you—and a Punee convertible into a queen bed for additional sleeping flexibility with your party.

Wow! We had an incredible 10 days in this lovely home. The location is at the end of a quiet oceanfront neighborhood north of the Fairmont Hotel where we attended a family wedding. There is a path that connects along the oceanfront and my son and I paddle boarded from the home past the Fairmont. The oceanfront is full of interesting tidepools and there is nearby access for snorkeling and paddle boarding. The home is equiped with all manner of watersport equipment for use: snorkels, masks, fins, paddleboards, kayaks and boogie boards. No need to drag your gear to Hawaii! The house is fully equipped for cooking, grilling and dining and we enjoyed making and enjoying meals together, especially at dinner time watching stunning sunsets. The house is nicely located to explore beaches to the north, Waimea, and Hilo side of the island as well as Kona, Captain Cook and southern beaches and sights. We spent time on seven of the islands beautiful and diverse beaches. After long days of exploration we always were greeted by this beautiful and comfortable property as our own Hawaiian home to rest and recuperate. We highly recommend this luxury property.
Lovely house that seemed to have everything! Good snorkeling. Beautiful views.
A very spacious home with a good flow inside to outside. Big comfortable outdoor space to enjoy the nightly sunsets. Well equipped kitchen for dining in. Great proximity for snorkeling just next door, and a short walk up the coast to watch the sea turtles come in to bed down at night. A short drive to a beautiful public beach, and many dining and grocery options nearby. We had the whole family there - 5 grandkids and their parents and grandparents. All were comfortable at night and entertained all through the day. This is a 5-star review, and the only negative was the sliding glass wall sections that need some maintenance for easy access between living room and lanai.
Amazing property located on the best snorkeling reef- few people and many fish species. Wonderful kitchen and lanai with 4 beach facing bedrooms. Quiet neighborhood but close to other resorts and amenities. Not to mention, the most beautiful sunsets. We will be back!
A lovely home in a beautiful location! The property was well equipped for all our needs. The covered outdoor lanais offered a wonderful setting to enjoy the views. The owners and property manager were both responsive and very accommodating!
We loved this place! Perfect location, beautiful and spacious house, completely well-equipped with everything you might need or want. Property manager was so kind and helpful and made check-in and check-out seamless. Our group's age range was 12-76 and everyone loved it! Thank you to the hosts for providing such a peaceful, lovely, and generous experience -- we really hope to return!
Our group consisted of golfers, water enthusiasts and nature lovers. We were an active group seeking a beautiful home on the beach that offered conveniences for all our wishes. We loved our time at this property. We had studied this property extensively prior to booking. The home and surrounding area was just as expected. It is a lovely home with much charm situated along the coast of Puako, Hawaii. Our group consisted of four couples. All the 4 bedrooms were comfortable with air conditioning. We slept well. The downstairs two bedrooms shared a closet space and a bathroom. To enhance our privacy, one couple use the half bath right across bedroom entrance and we were able to easily share the adjoining closet and shower. Each bedroom had a private lanai which was nice for privacy when desired. The kitchen was well appointed and very clean. The living spaces were very comfortable and tastefully decorated. We spent most of our ‘at home’ time on the lanai’s or walking around on the lava to see turtles and aquatic life in the tide pools or in the ocean. The proximity of the home to the water is close. The beach beyond the home is primarily lava but there is water access nearby for snorkeling and other activities. The owners were very generous with their beach equipment, which made utilizing the ocean very convenient. The Orchid Fairmont is 15 minute walking distance on a trail along the beach. If you continue on you’ll reach the Mauna Lani resort and beach club. We were in Puako during whale season and enjoyed watching them all times of the day. The home is in close proximity to many other amenities such as restaurants, grocery store, and other resorts and beaches. The owners and local home manager were very attentive and helpful with our questions or requests. We would definitely stay here again.
Our family of seven, ages 23-81 and spanning three generations, had a wonderful stay at Mana Kai. What an incredible home!! It exceeded our expectations, and we would definitely stay here again. The location is central to beautiful, white sand Hapuna beach, high end resorts and most activities, while remaining private and secluded. To our delight there were kayaks, snorkel gear, beach chairs, towels and more to use during our stay. We kayaked out on the ocean frontage of the house and watched as spinner dolphins frolicked within feet of us. The kitchen was well stocked, and we used the heck out of the coffee maker. All the beds were comfy cozy and the air conditioning in the bedrooms was an absolute necessity, even in November! We were all sad to have to leave this little piece of paradise. Thanks so much to Nikki and Christian for being excellent house hosts. And thank you to the family for sharing your home with 7 happy strangers. Mahalo!
We spent two weeks at this amazing beachfront property, while on the Big Island for Ironman Kona. We were joined by our three adult children, their significant others and two grandchildren ages 7 and 3. The house had plenty of space for all ten of us, without feeling crowded. The house is well furnished and stocked, throughout. Paniau Beach, next door, provided fun with the kayaks, boogie boards, and fantastic snorkeling. The beach path at Paniau led us to the Petroglyph Park, as well as the Fairmont Orchid for brunch or an evening meal when we chose not to cook. Tide pools provided much entertainment and there were sea turtles, almost daily, right in front of the house and along the beach path. Morning coffee views and beautiful sunsets are never ending on the lanai. This was our second stay at this property, partly due to the owners and house manager. Both were quick to respond to any questions or concerns and provided endless information for restaurants, outings, etc. We enjoy the quiet and well-situated location of this beautiful property and can't wait to return!
My family and friends loved our stay. The house itself is lovely, spacious, comfortable, with all the amenities you could want. The setting is stunning. The hosts and house manager were very friendly, helpful, and available for all of our questions. Can't wait to go back!
The location for this home is perfect and we loved our vacation in large part due to the special accommodations at this property. Our family of nine comprised of my husband and I, our four children (18, 15, 13, 11), my parents and my mother in-law fit comfortably in this incredible home which we used as a home base for our week stay on the Big Island. We snorkeled every morning (using the fins provided at the property in the garage - we brought our own dry snorkels and water shoes) and saw incredible fish, sea turtles, spinner dolphins, eels and other sea life. This property effectively includes a daily snorkeling trip for everyone by virtue of the proximity to one of the best reefs on the Big Island. The Property Manager and owner were both incredibly helpful and connected us to various options for a chef to come into the house and cook an authentic island meal for our family. Check in was easy. There were many other special amenities that show that the owners have thought through the details. For example, the shell collection is incredibly unique and special (needs dusting) and the entire family spent a lot of time looking at the collection. We loved the ability to sleep with the doors open and have a breeze constantly flowing through the house, including watching a movie in the family room with the doors open. The sliding door set up throughout the house is elaborate so you can close doors with a glass door, screen or shutters. Note to owners, a few of the screen doors in the main living area are sticking a bit and the tracks may need a little love. We loved this house and hope to visit again.
