Cooperstown, New York
Summertime Hill is a 5 bedroom 3 bath restored Victorian house on Lake Otsego with a porch, private dock, deck, 16' TRAMPOLINE/RAFT, and room for a boat or kayak (which you can rent right down the lake at Sam Smiths). For the chef in your family, it has a great kitchen and grill. Professionally decorated and featured in an 8-page Good Housekeeping photo spread and article, where Summertime Hill was described as "one of the most beautiful and romantic accommodations in the Cooperstown area".
Surrounded by hills, Lake Otsego is the largest, cleanest, most scenic lake in the area. Often referred to as "Glimmerglass" (as coined by James Fenimore Cooper) our lake shimmers and sparkles in the light of the changing skies reflecting off of the limestone floor of the lake. Views aew especially breathtaking at sunrise and sunset. The water is crystal clear and pristine – perfect for swimming, fishing and boating.....AND bouncing on the TRAMPOLINE! Fall is equally fantastic, with some of the best foliage in New England.
In the 5 bedrooms are 3 queen beds, one double. and 2 designer twin beds in a fun and cozy room with a beamed ceiling, its own AC, and state-of-the-art washer/drier in slate The room with a double bed has its own private bath. From all 3 queens, you can see the sun and moon rise on the lake while lying in bed!. Among the many amenities are central A/C with dehumidifier, Jacuzzi tub, stainless appliances in the kitchen, a professional LaCanche stove, a Weber grill, real china, fine glasses, Italian sheets, incredibly comfortable glider/rockers and beds, high speed internet, and a 42” flat-screen TV with DVR/DVD/ROKU.
The long porch has a table for four, 2 extra chairs, 2 rockers, and a swing....all of which are fantastic for relaxing with a good book, while enjoying the fantastic views of the lake!
A few days in this bucolic setting, looking out on this truly spectacular lake will relax, rest and energize you...and you may never want to leave!
Ok house nice location. One of the bedrooms is also used as a laundry room and this should be made clear in listing. It looked like mold build up in this room. Just didn't work as a bedroom. After rental i received message from owner complaining that we used too many sheets that we left porch chairs in rain and that we ruined carpet in this laundry room/bedroom because we used too much laundry detergent. Owner had the nerve to request money to cover expense of carpet. When paying 4thousand plus dollars to rent house i just thought this was petty
Porch and lake were beautiful! We used 3 of the 5 bedrooms on the front side of the house they were very roomy and faced the lake, beautiful sunrises! The other two bedrooms were smaller and connected to each of the bathrooms with shower so we kept these unoccupied. Dining room good for family dinners and game nights. BBQ great! Big fridge and nice dishwasher. Oven was in Breakfast room so we used this area for food prep. Cooperstown easy to get to!
What a great place to stay. Close to town, easy to get to water, and such a unique home. I could not have asked for a better weekend.
We came to Cooperstown to see the Opera and the Baseball Hall of Fame. Richard was an excellent host, the house was convenient to the Opera, Cooperstown, Ommegang Brewery, we enjoyed it very much.
What an amazing property, location, and experience. We had a great time in Cooperstown watching our son play at Cooperstown Dreams Park and experiencing this magical place. Owner was delightful to work with and my family of 7 enjoyed every minute of our vacation.
Richard and Pam are great hosts. They genuinely want the guests to feel at home and everything you might need during your stay is taken care of. Home is clean, welcoming and has a great location. The porch and the dock area provide great views and we spent lot of our time there during our stay. Highly recommend.
Everything about this property was perfect. We were made to feel at home from the minute we stepped inside. Every inch is a charming delight from the claw foot tub downstairs to the carefully and creatively decorated bedrooms to the magnificent stove. The smell of the Phlox after a summer rain was heavenly and the colors of the Lantana sparkled everywhere. The porch was the perfect place to spend a quiet morning and an evening with family. We can't thank the host enough for providing us with the perfect spot to get away and relax!!
We had a great stay at this house. It is an old Victorian, with all the quirks and charm that come with it. It sits on a hill across route 80 from the lake, and it is a quick walk down some stairs and across the road to your own private dock. Richard, the owner, was extremely helpful and responsive. He left perfectly ripe peaches and corn for us, which was a really fantastic touch. The house itself is immaculate and has some nice touches. The porch overlooking the lake is very peaceful to sit out on and drink coffee or a cocktail. Overall we were very pleased with our stay.
We (family/friends) rented this home while our sons and husbands (the coaches) were in Cooperstown All Star Village for the week. While it was a 40 minute drive to/from the games, it was well worth it! Our tournament downtime was an actual vacation instead of just trying to pass the time. The home is lovely and charming, the views and porch are wonderful for relaxing, and the owners made us feel very welcome. They surprised us with apples, cookies and some other lovely treats. The home was clean, stocked and furnished like they live there, not like the typical rental. It felt like we were staying with friends. Highly recommend and hope to return!
We had a lovely time at this property. It was late September so only a few hardy folks went in for a swim, but we had many lovely evenings on the porch and enjoyed Cooperstown. The house was clean, comfortable, and I particularly liked the well equipped and clean kitchen.
