New Orleans, Louisiana

Welcome to Maison Rampart- the most authentic New Orleans property on the rental market and a house reflective of the way folks have stayed in the French Quarter for hundreds of years! This amazingly genuine property has undergone a 2 year restoration and is now available for short term rentals for the first time ever. Maison Rampart is a Creole Cottage that was originally built in the 1830s and changed very little over the last 200 years- we still retain much of the authentic character that has developed along with the city through the centuries. You will find nothing from Ikea or Home Depot here; the house is filled with authentic antiques, luxurious upholstery, premium mattresses & bedding, historic oil-paintings and lithographs, and period correct details throughout. The owners are luxury designers & historic preservationists and no expense was spared when creating this true New Orleans masterpiece.
Step inside the front doors to the double parlor which retains is original fireplace and beadboard paneling from the 1860s. There is comfortable seating for 10, a large smart TV with local channels and onDemand favorites (like Netflix, HBO, Showtime, Hulu, and a variety of cable stations including ESPN, HGTV, etc). The sofa has a pull-out queen size sleeper and there are plenty of cozy places to curl up with an antebellum novel or other spots to sit and write a postcard to your loved ones. There is also a Sonos music system throughout the house, controlled by a free downloadable app on your smart phone or tablet over super-fast cable internet & wifi.
The sumptuous dining room is one of the most eye-catching spaces in the house with its beaded walls, circa 1830s fireplace, New Orleans Spanish period iron chandelier, fabulous French trimmed draperies, and durable leather seating for a quick bite or a long-lasting dinner party. The charming luster lamps are as old as the house, and for more refined events we offer a complete set of French Limoges china. The last space on the left side of the cottage is perhaps the most charming room in the house, the Creole kitchen. You will find no built-in cabinetry, granite countertops, or tacky tile in this space- it is filled with antique furnishings the way an authentic Creole kitchen should be set up. We do however have a few modern conveniences, like a dishwasher, a reproduction refrigerator (with automatic ice maker), and a hood vent for cooking up a storm on the chic Italian gas range in colorful pastel blue and stainless steel. The kitchen is also equipped with all the copper pots and pans you need plus a microwave, electric tea kettle, standard coffee machine, toaster, dishes & cutlery for 20, plenty of wine glasses, and all the cooking gadgets and utensils you could ever want. Of course we provide the basics as well like oil, butter, salt & pepper, and Louisiana hot sauce!
The right side of the house consists of the three bedrooms and two bathrooms. The first bedroom was originally the parlor for this side of the house and retains the most refined elements that the cottage had; plaster walls, tongue & groove ceilings, and deep moldings, in addition to a fabulous French crystal chandelier. This space also has the most light with double pairs of french doors and a side window, fitted again with luxurious trimmed drapery atop some fabulous historic reproduction wall-covering. This bedroom sleeps 4 with two queen beds and also has a large wardrobe, a dresser/vanity, and a spot to sit all atop a heavy wool Persian rug. Right outside this space is the first of the two bathrooms which features a claw-foot tub with a shower, a pedestal sink, an antique medicine cabinet, and new historic reproduction toilet. The bathrooms include body wash and shampoo/conditioner as well as plenty of towels, washcloths, and other essential like a first aid-kit.
The middle bedroom contains the most period-correct American antiques in the house- these are pieces made for the New Orleans market shortly after the house was built in the 1830s. This suite also sleeps four in the two amazing mahogany four-poster tester beds, which are both expanded full size and include a variety of luxury bedding and both down & cotton pillows. This room also has a large wardrobe to unpack your things, a dresser, and a place to sit and tie your shoelaces. All of the bedrooms have a fan if you need a little white noise to sleep and extra blankets, Kleenex, and coat hangers. Right outside this suite is the second bathroom which has an inventive claw-foot shower and plenty of hooks & storage for all of your travel essentials. Both bathrooms also have a hair dryer in the medicine cabinet as well as plenty of extra toilet paper. Look inside the medicine cabinet of this bath to see the original barge-board construction of the house as well as some layers of the historic wall-covering from about 1830-1870, which has been sampled and documented by the Louisiana State Museum.
The back bedroom is exquisitely decorated in Ralph Lauren wall-coverings, a thick wool rug, linen drapery with black-out lining, a large German wardrobe, and a large King size four-poster tester bed with custom bed drapery. This suite also has an adjoining laundry room for guests use who might have booked a longer stay with us. It has a ceiling fan, plenty of storage, a smart TV with a large variety of channels and on Demand TV/movies, and is of course cooled by our brand new 3 ton air conditioning system.
Take a walk outside the rear kitchen door and find yourself on our large screen porch, which seats 8+ and is a heavenly respite away from the hustle and bustle of the French Quarter and nearby Frenchman Street. Right off this porch you will enjoy the comfortable chaise lounges for sunning and once your overheated, take a cool dip in our brand new salt-water pool! The left is a 4.5' deep lounge pool and the right is a relaxing spa that will easily fit your whole group! There is also a built-in underwater bench all around the back side of the pool if you just want to relax and take in the view of the cottage & palm trees while you sit with your cocktail.
There is a hot tub (spa) that is always heated. The pool temp is perfect in the summer & fall, but we do offer pool heat during the winter/spring if requested. The cost is $50 per day and can be added to your reservation prior to check in. It is not possible to heat the pool for only part of your stay.
As you can see from the location map, we are situated right off of busy Frenchman Street which offers some of the best live music in New Orleans as well as a great weekend flea market and some charming coffee shops. We are also literally steps from the famous French Quarter and we are one of very few legal short term rentals in the area and the only option to stay in a truly luxury single family room this close to the Quarter. You can walk directly down Bourbon to extensive all night activity or take a stroll down one of our favorite streets during the day for great shopping, Royal Street. Jackson Square is about 10 minutes walking, and we send our personal restaurant and activity recommendations to every guest about a week prior to arrival so you will be able to enjoy some of the hidden gems around the Quarter, the Marigny, and the Bywater just like the locals!
Lastly, for your security please be aware of our local laws on Short Term Rentals in New Orleans! There are no legal short term rentals allowed within the limits of the French Quarter of less than 30 days, with the exception of upper floor apartments physically on Bourbon Street where the bars and restaurants are (ie, the rowdy, loud blocks). If you take the chance of renting in another French Quarter location, you risk the city shutting down the property prior to or during your stay- this is very likely as neighbors in the Quarter will report all short term rental activity. The only unlimited, legal short term rentals in the city are on properties outside of the main Quarter (ie east of Esplanade or North of Claiborne). If you are looking for a safe, walk-able environment then we highly recommend staying south of Claiborne, where the trolley car line runs. Feel free to message us with questions about short term rental laws or safety concerns while renting in New Orleans; we want you to have a wonderful trip in our beautiful and historic city on the river!
This home was amazing! We loved every minute of our stay in NOLA, and the proximity of this home to Frenchman St was an added bonus because that’s where to find the best jazz. Great trip to a great place!
Absolutely beautifully furnished - was like staying a museum. Great host. An amazing backyard and pool too. I enjoyed the hot tub. I'd love to visit again. Look no further!
Amazing house, loved the furnishings and little details. Not to mention its in the perfect location to get to everything quickly. The pool was a must have to beat the summer heat. The property manager Sophie was very attentive. We (6) would definitely stay again! Thanks!
top of the line for furnishings, the pool and hot tub are a wonderful added feature. Great follow up by the property manager
This house and location were just fabulous and even better than the pictures showed. Everything about this place was top notch and John and Sophie were amazing and super responsive. The house is so perfect for a New Orleans get away and my son loved hanging out in the pool and hot tub. We will 100% definitely be back to this beautiful house.
The house is exactly how it appears in the images. It is historic and decorated in such great detail. Both coffee shops around the corner were lovely. We loved our stay for the week. Thank you for sharing your home!
Our group had a fabulous stay at this beautiful house! Located in walking distance to some of our favorite neighborhoods, it provided a perfect resting place during our days enjoying the city. The back patio, pool and hot tub were spectacular and we so very much enjoyed the large screened in porch. The kitchen was well equipped and the beds super comfortable. Would love to stay again!
The place is history and beautiful with everything you need to be comfy and in a location that is easily walkable to Frenchman street and all the French quarter has to offer There’s a market and a Starbucks on the corner The pool / hot tub was great and a big win for the 1 child who was in our group of 6
We absolutely loved this property. It was amazing to stay in an authentic Creole cottage in our favorite NOLA neighborhood. The vibe was rustic yet luxurious. Beds were super comfy and the two bathrooms handled our group of 7 just fine. Pool, hot tub, and back porch were a real bonus. Location is great, just steps from the music clubs on Frenchmen and French Quarter attractions. Josh and the house managers were super responsive and a pleasure to work with throughout our stay.
Great host. Great pool, heated up in about an hour. Fun neighborhood. Neat history to the building, but with modern comfort.
Property was beautiful, pool and hot tub were great! A short walk to any of the main attractions! We loved it and had a great time!
We have just returned from a wonderful week at this property. The location is very convenient to anything you want to see or do or eat in Nola. The hosts were quick to address small issues that came up (A power surge that tripped a breaker) and the house is exactly as pictured. We did not cook even one meal here so I cannot comment on the kitchen (I mean we were there to enjoy the culinary scene of the city). Door dash does bring many unique options right to the house and we never once waited over 4 minutes for an Uber. The pool was actually larger than I expected and we spend every afternoon relaxing in the cooling water. There is a terrific neighborhood market named Robert's that has everything you need and is only a block away. Also, Lorettas is right across the street but is open only Thursdays thru Saturdays so we enjoyed the Ruby Slipper (also a super quick walk away) for breakfast. Frenchman Street has great live music and some great restaurants. It is also a very short walk from the house. Our only observation is there is a party bus that seemed to run on the weekends goes right by the house and the front bedroom did have a bit of noise when it went by. Our son just slept in his noise canceling ear buds so it was a non-issue but is worth a heads up.
The home and all the details were so welcoming and cozy. Beds so comfortable, the kitchen so nice to have especially with wonderful Robert's market and Starbucks a block away. We became regular's at Loretta's across the street --best bignets in the WORLD! Frozen daiquiris at the bar on the corner. Loved hearing music floating in the air from Frenchman Street---while playing cards in the screened in back porch and having the pool and spa were so luxurious.
This old Marigny townhouse has been renovated for a the present times, but keeping the charm of old. There is so much to look at you can spend an hour just touring your own rental! But if you do want to explore, you can walk everywhere. The people in the neighborhood are as nice as and helpful as can be.
The house was everything you could ever ask for: historic, beautifully decorated, comfortable, and functional. It was a sanctuary from our long days out and about. We all loved it -- inside and out. The back porch, patio and pool were a great hang out space. And the location was perfect!
Josh's home was exactly as it shows in the pictures. It was very pleasant and met our needs well. Sophie made check in easy and check out by John was just as easy. The only problem and they mention it in their one-act is the noise in the front bedroom. It's extremely noise with heavy traffic as well as heavy foot traffic. If you dont need the front bedroom your in luck because everything else is quite. The stove (oven didn't work) but we managed. There is a great grocery store just up the street. The back patio area is wonderful and they do have cameras on the back porch which didn't bother us however its not mentioned in their contract and per VBRO and Air B&B it states they have to notify you if there are cameras on the premise. We asked and they stated there were.nk cameras inside. The home is beautiful and within walking distance of many great aces to eat. Also Loretta across the street have the best benigets and pralines. Be sure try them much better than Cafe De Monday and no crowds. We give the home And owners 5 stars!!!
