The Space:

This newly renovated, cozy 3-bedroom cottage is a converted 1930 historic cabin, and is a short walk from downtown Anchorage. This amazing site provides easy access to public transportation. The property has free parking and includes room for 3 vehicles. A lush garden, filled with vegetables and flowers, surrounds a large, fenced-in, open yard and deck--the perfect spotfor grilling fresh salmon, which you can purchase at the local market less than two blocks away. This house is a short walk from bike paths and a local park and dog park known as Valley of the Moon.

Guests are welcome to access all areas of the house including the basement laundry room, downstairs TV room (with 65 inch television) living room, upstairs TV room, bedrooms, and kitchen (with fully supplied pots, pans and utensils) .

The Neighborhood:

The house is located just steps from downtown Anchorage, which means easy access to bars, restaurants, and shops. I’ve listed some details about my favorite spots in the welcome manual, but be sure not to miss Fire Island Bakery just a few blocks away!

Getting Around:

Being so close to downtown, it’s easy to get around d on your own two feet of the weather is cooperative. Calling a taxi, Uber, or Lyft is helpful for longer distances.

Other Things to Note:

We ask that you be respectful of the surrounding neighbors as this is a residential community. Please only park in our lot.

Home is within walking distance of downtown, has a great yard/outdoor seating area, and a fully stocked kitchen. Check in was easy and communication was timely. Downsides were the lack of an outlet in the downstairs bathroom (we located an extension cord) and the fact that a few windows were missing screens (Day 1 was warm and sunny!). Nice and functional for families, but not luxurious for two couples.

Easy access to downtown, grocery, and Fire Island bakery! We would all stay there again. The home and yard was adorable. Street noise was a little loud on the weekend, but work week night time traffic wasn't so busy.

What a lovely VRBO to use as a home base as we traveled to different locations outside Anchorage. The property is well maintained in a safe neighborhood. The owner communicated with me regularly confirming our arrival and concerned with any needs to make our stay perfect.

Great location with two baths. Walkable to downtown. We really enjoyed the fire pit. Saw eagles right from the porch. Nice large yard with privacy.

Was not communicated that both bathrooms are on suite therefore the 3rd bedroom guest must enter into the other guest’s room. There are steep stairs to second floor where 2 of the bedrooms are. Only 6 towels for 4 adults, no dishcloths or tea towels and dishwasher was broken. Cut myself on jagged edge of bed while making it. There were several strong smelling diffusers throughout the place, i gathered them up and covered them with plastic wrap way too strong. I would consider this a 3 star stay at best

Overall a great place to spend a few nights. Because it is an older building it has some quirks (not bad, just to note), the stairwells are very narrow, there is a beam between the kitchen (beautiful kitchen) and dinning that 6' 2 or taller people will need to duck under, low clearance in the basement. Beds were awesome!!! Very comfortable with plenty of pillows. Beautiful yard and plenty of room to move around. The bathroom with the tub/shower combo is on the main level and a bathroom with the shower is on the second floor. They provided plenty of towels and other supplies Thanks for a great stay!!

Cute remodeled home, great kitchen with everything would need but didn't use much since quick stop over, plenty of space for just the 2 of us. Quick response when couldn't get door to open. Location close to downtown and everything we needed. Minimal street noise, didn't hear anything with ear plugs in. Only thing lacking was an outlet in downstairs bathroom.

Visiting Alaska with my spouse and parents for the first time from Texas. Cottage was as described. Neighborhood was nice, looks like the homes are being remodeled. Noisy intersection behind the home, but you get used to it; not loud after 10 or 11pm or maybe I was just so tired, I couldn’t hear. Nice yard, needed a little maintaining, but so did all the other neighbors, but maybe that’s an Alaska thing. Would recommend some blackout curtains for bedrooms. Only issue was at check-in, the home wasn’t ready to go. The housekeeper didn’t finish, like they just left in the middle of cleaning—towels, linens in washer and beds not made up. The owner was responsive and quickly took action to resolve.

We flew in from the east coast arriving after midnight local time - Blake granted immediate access with very easy check-in and clear instructions. The cottage was clean and warm and just what we need for our short stay in Anchorage. I would not hesitate to stay here again and hope we get the chance to in the future.

The house is super cute and comfy! It’s located within a mile of downtown eating and shopping- so convenient. The host was easy to work with and responded quickly to our questions and needs. Take earplugs for street noise and neighbor. Minor inconvenience with what the house has to offer:)
