Stayed Sep 13, 2024Pros: The host was very responsive and easy to work with. The place was clean and comfortable. The wooded setting was pretty and secluded. A fairly rough road to get to it, and quite steep in spots, but doable for most vehicles I think. We saw lots of wildlife, which can be exciting. Convenient to the park. Cons: Most of the wildlife we saw there was black bears, and they were there because of the food the hosts put out. Inside the cottage closet are two containers of squirrel food, which seemed to be peanuts and corn and sunflower seeds. One container said that their critters were spoiled and liked to be fed at 630am and 330pm. Turns out, that's precisely when the bears would visit the very large feeder just outside the glass doors. The bears would were completely habituated to humans and showed no fear at all. Twice over a few days, a bear approached the yard while we were outside relaxing. We yelled and waved, but it didn't care at all and actually walked towards us. Once it stood just outside the glass door despite two dogs barking at it inches away. This behavior didn't feel completely safe for us, though the bears were not aggressive per se. More importantly, it's bad for the bears and puts them at risk of an incident. As they say, fed bears are dead bears. I know the hosts love the wildlife. I would just encourage them to consider the effects that the feeding station has on the safety of their guests, their pets, and the bears themselves.

Stayed Oct 21, 2022My wife and I took a short and last minute trip to Gatlinburg. I was looking for cabins and of course they were hard to find considering we waited last minute. I ended up looking on VRBO which I've never used before. The whole experience was amazing. Very easy to book and the property owner was awesome. The house and property was everything we could have asked for. Privacy and very well maintained. These pictures do not do it justice. We really enjoyed our time and plan on going back for longer next time.

Stayed Oct 13, 2022My family of 4 to include a teenager and a 4th grader stayed at Storybook Cottage for Fall Break and had a wonderful time. We loved that they allow dogs, and we were able to travel with ours. The property is beautiful, and the house is very cozy. We were very comfortable with all the amenities, and it would be the perfect location for those wanting seclusion and to mostly stay in for their trip. There are a few things I want to mention that I think are helpful. Jodee is very upfront about the road condition, and please know that she is not kidding. We live in a rural area, are used to gravel roads and drive big trucks. The roads leading to the cottage are ROUGH. It's not just the gravel roads either. The worst is the paved portion just before the driveway. HUGE holes in the road. Be very careful. Secondly, Jodee also reveals that there are cameras in the outdoor spaces. Please know that there are multiple cameras in the outdoor spaces, and it does feel like you are being watched with every coming and going. Thirdly, there was no water in the stream while we were there, which I realize is an act of nature, but it was still a bummer. We did see a black bear close to the cottage, but it was also a bit staged if you will. Someone had left pumpkin and white beans hidden under some rocks near the driveway. My dog found it immediately and started eating it. I pulled him away to inspect it and then as if on cue, a black bear appeared there a few hours later to eat the food. Still very cool to see, but just be alert and aware that someone may be attracting them on purpose. Finally, there is 1 bathroom and it's tiny. The shower ceiling is very low, and the toilet is smaller than standard size. This didn't affect our trip, other than 4 people needing the bathroom at the same time, but I didn't see it listed anywhere and I would have found that info helpful ahead of time.

Stayed Sep 4, 2022Hi, This was a vacation with our grandkids. The first time they have ever saw mountains and actually been out of Florida. They had the time of their lives!! The SBC was immaculate as it always is! The property was beautifully maintained and it truly is a slice of Heaven! The grandkids enjoyed all the wildlife coming up to the property and feeding the birds, squirrels, chipmunks, and hummingbirds hovering over us like they were glad to see us. Beautiful trees and soothing breezes throughout our entire time at the SBC. A couple days of light rain, but it was a wonderful time. The SBC is located very close to everything and only about 20 mins from most of all of our plans for the grandkids. We enjoyed Dollywood for two days, and hit the strip in Pigeon Forge every day! Good food and great times as it always is while staying at the SBC! We stayed for 8 days and 7 nights and we wanted to stay longer. We absolutely love the SBC and Jodee is, and had always been a great host who is 100% committed to making sure this place is perfect! Thank you Jodee for an experience of a lifetime each time we’ve visited!!♥️ My wife has made this little piece of Heaven a permanent part of our vacation time each year. We just left and she’s talking of our next stay already! Affordable, perfect location, and just plain BEAUTIFUL all of the time!! We love this place! It had the same affect on our grandkids which are 6 & 7 and they are ready to return already as well. When you are there, no matter how long your stay may be, you feel right at home and all of the people in the area are very nice and pleasant to talk to and it just makes the entire experience so fantastic! Thank you again Jodee for being a great host and offering a product that is like no other in the area! Don & Peggy Strickland D J & Kylie Collins

Stayed Apr 6, 2022Exactly what our family was looking for in a rental for our vacation! We loved being in the middle of the woods. No horrible traffic or noisy neighbors. We enjoyed the little creek on the property and loved seeing the wildlife play and scavenger for food. I really wish we had stayed at the cottage more but it was our first time and the kids wanted to explore Peigon Forge so off we went into the city. One thing I will say is being house shoes!! The floor is cold, and hard!! Everything else was perfect. Thanks for letting us stay!!
