Luxury 4 Bed 2 Bath Westminister Big Ben

The location was close to the Tube & to a small Sainsbury’s local grocery, so was very convenient for a family.We had plenty of space for 5 adults & the floor plan was as described, with plenty of room for us all to spread out. On the not so good side, the bedroom on the upper floor had springs which poked through the mattress in the middle of the bed. The other beds were adequate. As far as linens,there was no change of bedding provided for a two week stay. Also, there were no hand towels or facecloths(washcloths). The window blinds in all the rooms were falling apart & made it hard to sleep due to light intrusion. In the lowest floor bedroom, the pull down shade had to be rolled up by hand & could only be reached by standing on the bed which was very precarious. The kitchen was inadequately equipped - no utility knives, only 1 saucepan, no baking sheets or pans . The baking element in oven was detached & hanging down dangerously - a burn hazard! None of the appliances had any instructions, including oven, washer , dryer, TV etc so made it hard for foreigners unfamiliar with British technology. Many cabinet doors had at least one broken hinge. Some of the doors were 8 feet tall & hanging by an upper hinge & were very hazardous. In my opinion these were all items which could be easily fixed with better oversight & maintenance. Sadly, I’m hesitant to recommend the property to family who will be traveling next summer due to these issues.

I had booked this for myself, my 2 daughters and friends for a 2night break.The accommodation was spacious, comfy beds, but house needs some TLC and a deep clean. The bannisters were filthy and grimy, the stair ballistrades were dirty and dusty, the shower trap was full of thick congealed hair and stunk , i had to remove this as the water wasnt draining away. There was no pull cord on one of the bedroom blinds to open, close it. The ceiling light in another bedroom had dangerous exposed electrical fitting, the fridge temperature dial and light was hanging off and it had been tapped up previously. Part of the stair carpet was loose which we noticed when our friend who is 6mths pregnant caught her foot on it. There was no ironing board as listed, all the changeover washed laundry was hung on a clothes airer to dry outside the top floor bedroom. Not ideal for incoming guests. We followed instructions for heating and hot water but took about an hour for hot water for showers. On a plus noteThe house is located within a short walk to elephant and castle tube so great access into the city. I would have expected much higher standards for this property for what we paid, the description and photos on the site. Its a shame i cant upload pictures from our stay. I own and run a cleaning company in Cornwall and have some high end clients, domestic and holiday changeovers. I would expect higher standard than what we were faced with for a London property of this price.
