Stayed Mar 27, 2021We came for a one week stay at Hiltonhead Island and had a great stay at David and Dianne's house. They were always reaching out and helpful throughout the stay and even before the trip. We loved everything about the house and the location. It was close to the beach and riding the bikes to Shipyard beach was also very nice. We would certainly recommend their place to friends and family, also will come back and stay if we plan another trip to Hiltonhead in the future.

Stayed Dec 31, 1969Our group of six (family and friends) just stayed in this house for a week and had an absolutely wonderful time! The house was very roomy and comfortable...perfect for our needs. The great room has abundant comfortable seating for everyone and the three bedrooms each had their own full bathroom and television. Everyone was very comfortable! Although the lot is heavily wooded and beautiful, the house has great natural light coming in thru the windows and numerous skylights. We also really enjoyed the fully equipped kitchen, pantry, and laundry room....and the bikes! The house's location is terrific and we really enjoyed the privacy and security in Shipyard. We loved being so close to the beach, great golf, shopping, and restaurants while also enjoying relative quiet and privacy in the neighborhood. Finally, we truly enjoyed working with the owners - they are terrific, responsive, and accommodating people who are genuinely interested in ensuring their guests have a great experience. We are very grateful for their hospitality and look forward to staying there again as soon as we get the chance! This home gets our strongest recommendation!!

Stayed Dec 31, 1969We stayed in this wonderful house for one week in mid-august. We are a family of 6, the house was perfect for us: each room accommodated 2 kids and had its own full-size bathroom, which made shower time a breeze (and that is never a given with teenage children!). The master bedroom + bathroom are extremely roomy and very comfortable. The kitchen is fantastic, we actually took all our meals in the breakfast area which is very spacious and bathed in sunlight. The kitchen has everything you may need, plus many things you don't necessarily need but that are a definite plus on vacation, such as waffle makers. Yes, in the middle of summer and with 100-degree temperatures every day, our kids clamoured for their waffle-and-syrup breakfast... The house is extremely well located within the community, not far from the beach nor from the entrance. The community itself is very pleasant. We keep the best for last: bikes! The owners are nice enough to let tenants use their bikes, which are in mint condition. We rode them several times a day. The island has plenty of bike trails and is very flat. We rode around the shipyard, and took a few little trips outside as well (to the Harbour town lighthouse for instance). It became a routine we all looked forward to. Early morning and early evening rides were the best at this time of year: we got to see plenty of wildlife, a lot of gators and turtles of course but also a superb bald eagle returning to its nest with a nice catch in its talons... A perfect vacation in a perfect home. We recommend this house without a moment's hesitation.

Stayed Dec 31, 1969We have stayed at various condos within Shipyard and elsewhere on the island over the past 20 years and I can honestly say that we had a eureka moment when we unlocked the door to this home! Our problem has always been finding vacation accommodation on the island that is not a hotel but is truly (not just advertised) wheelchair accessible. Even after tasking an agent at one of the better known rental agencies, they couldn't come up with property that we could both access the front door without steps and get through interior doors, specifically bathroom doors. For anyone looking for an accessible three bedroom house, this is it. That said, I will add that of the 3 bedrooms only the master bedroom suite is accessible. The other two are lovely rooms but the bathrooms would be too small to get in and turn around with a wheelchair. The front entrance way is completely ramped, as the owner's description states, and the sliding doors out to the deck have a very shallow door sill, very easy to wheel over. The house welcomes you as soon as you open the door. You really are entering a home, and not simply a furnished house and I felt a certain peaceful charm about it. There are beautiful floor to ceiling windows at the back of the living room overlooking a lagoon with the Hilton Head characteristic Spanish moss overhanging it's reflection. There are several doorways to the outside deck which has a few steps down to the back yard. (Obviously this area is not suitable for a wheelchair). The resident wildlife in and around the lagoon add to its charm. The kitchen is very well equipped. Everything in the owners' descriptions regarding amenities is correct. The home was very clean when we arrived and there were some basic operational instructions posted regarding blinds etc, which were very helpful. Location wise, I love Shipyard anyway so I'm biased but it's only about 15 mins walk to Coligny from the house, and about 20 mins walk to the Shipyard private beach which is a smaller area, easy to drive or bike to as well. There are 7 bikes in the garage which the owners allowed us to use which is very generous of them. The house has a long driveway which is ideal for small children to play at the front. There is garage access plus a space for a 2nd vehicle. A 3rd vehicle may be a challenge for parking with turning space, depending on one's backing up ability! Trees line the drive. We will recommend this home to all for the real experience of staying at Shipyard.

Stayed Dec 31, 1969Let's see ... Friendly, accommodating owners, tranquill neighborhood setting, fantastic floor plan, scads of room, comfortable furnishings, nicely equipped kitchen, golf course view, bikes, garage ... need I say more? This was our first 41 Gloucester experience but it definitely will not be our last. We have been vacationing on Hilton Head for twenty-five years and never have had a more relaxing, comfortable experience.

Stayed Dec 31, 1969This home was exactly as described on the VRBO site. Our group consisted of 3 couples, so the 3 bedrooms all with private baths were perfect. The well equipped kitchen made cooking fun and clean up a breeze. The bikes were ridden almost daily within and outside of Shipyard. We love HHI and have stayed at other rentals over the years, but everyone agreed that this home totally met all our needs and expectations. You can feel and see the love and care that Dianne and David have put into their home. The welcome note on the kitchen counter was a nice surprise and made us feel comfortable and happy that we had chosen this location for our week long vacation. From the very first contact, communication was so very easy and comfortable. All questions were immediately answered and all information given without hesitation. It was a perfect week of fun, laughter and relaxation. This home is beautiful inside and out. The time went by way too quickly and we are ready to return again very soon. We realize now, that a week is not long enough! Thanks so much Dianne and David for making your home available to our family. It was a wonderful week and all you did in preparation for our visit was so very much appreciated.

Stayed Dec 31, 1969This was our second stay in this wonderful house and we wouldn't look for another place as long as this house is available. Words cannot express just how perfect the house is or how wonderful Diane and David are as hosts. The house is just as lovely as described, light and airy, clean and extremely warm and comfortable. I love to cook and you rarely will find a rental kitchen as well-equipped as this. The effort that is put into making you feel welcome and at home is something you can't find anywhere else. The bikes are a real plus. We usually ride a bit every day. Shipyard is the best place on the island to have bikes to ride and having them waiting for you when you arrive at the house, free of charge is great. The beach equipment and easy access to the Shipyard beach is wonderful. Shipyard's two entrances make access to different parts of the island so convenient. The serene setting of the house would relax the most harried soul. We sat out back and watched the golfers play the second tee and even had a visit from an alligator this time in the lagoon behind the house. As I said, and cannot say enough, this house is perfect and the owners are the greatest hosts you could ever find.
