This lovely Craftsman-style vacation home on Orcas Island is a little piece of paradise located in a peaceful, quiet community. Influenced by the Arts and Crafts design movement of the early 20th century, the interior is open and warm, with hardwood floors, stained glass accents, and exposed woodwork. A pleasing spot both inside and out, up to six guests will greatly enjoy a stay at the aptly named Whispering Pines Retreat.
The main floor is a bright and light filled open concept living room, dining room, and kitchen with ten-foot-high ceilings. The living room includes large windows and Mission-style wood furniture with comfortable cushions, colorful throw rugs, and a beautifully tiled gas fireplace. Pick a cozy spot to settle in, choose a book or game from the many shelves, and relax. There is a stereo with an iPod dock, a smart TV with Roku streaming channels, and a DVD player, so you'll have no shortage of entertainment for those cold, stormy days. Free WiFi is available in case you need to check work emails, research possible island excursions, or find a new salmon recipe for dinner.
The home itself is well-equipped to entertain you both indoors and out! There are also two kayaks, a badminton/volleyball kit, tennis gear (two rackets and balls), a large beach umbrella, beach chairs, water vests, beach towels, and four adult bicycles to make the most of your time outdoors.
The fully equipped kitchen has butcher block counters, colorful coffee mugs, and a cookbook collection for culinary inspiration. All the appliances, dishes, and utensils you need to create tasty vacation meals are right at your fingertips. Appliances include a coffee maker, coffee bean grinder, coffee press, slow cooker, pancake griddle, popcorn maker, and waffle maker.
The nearby dining room is open to the living area, making it easy to spread out and socialize. Glass French doors off the dining room lead out to a large deck with a west view of the saltwater bay of Eastsound through the forested landscape. On the south side of the house, off the living room, is a sunny brick patio surrounded by rosemary, lavender, and fir trees. On sunny days, you can dine al fresco and breathe in the fresh Puget Sound air!
Upstairs there are three bedrooms, all with queen-size beds, soft bedding, and decorative touches throughout each room. There is a beautiful water view through the trees. The two bathrooms are also located upstairs and feature a white hexagonal tile floor, pedestal sinks, framed botanical drawings, and walk-in showers.
Orcas Island is 57 square miles of scenic hills, lakes, sea views, and forests. Like the other three main islands in the San Juan Island archipelago, it is accessible by the Washington State Ferry, private boat, or plane.
Less than five miles away, you'll want to spend plenty of time walking around picturesque Eastsound, the largest town on the island. Here you will find historic homes and buildings, some dating back to the late 1800s. This charming village has many art galleries, museums, shops, bookstores, cafes, and restaurants. Don't miss the other smaller towns of Olga, Deer Harbor, and Orcas Village. Dining out on Orcas Island offers a variety of choices, ranging from casual cafes to some of the finest restaurants in the Northwest.
Outdoor activities on Orcas Island include golfing at Orcas Island Golf Course, biking the rolling island hills, horseback riding, whale watching, kayaking, beachcombing, and bird watching. Located just minutes from the cabin, Moran State Park has over 5,000 acres of forest and almost 40 miles of trails to explore. Besides hiking the many nature trails, this is a popular destination for lake swimming, boating, fishing, and picnicking. Up for a challenge Hike or drive to the 2,400-foot summit of Mount Constitution and gaze out over both the US and Canada!
Leave your stresses behind, come rejuvenate and create lasting memories in this little piece of paradise.

This was a very well appointed property that made staying very comfortable and relaxing. Well thought out and comfortable, our stay for a week was exactly the disconnect we were looking for. Plenty of books and games to entertain along with WiFi and tv. The sound of the trees whispering outside is so relaxing. Great quiet neighborhood as well. Close enough to pop into Eastsound, Moran state park or Rosario with ease for some exploration if you’re up for it.
Well-built home with fully stocked kitchen. Very comfortable, quiet, inviting. Only a couple minor downsides: bathrooms are small, both upstairs, and the heating took a couple hours to seem to start to work, though instructions were clear. Overall a great place, great value.
We enjoyed our ladies trip immensely. The home was perfect for the five of us. Location is handy to town and to our favorite places on the island. We will stay here again!
We had an absolutely wonderful stay! The house was perfect and we enjoyed exploring the island. Can't wait to go back!
Very clean and beautiful! Plenty of games for the kids to play and outdoor space to explore. Great for our family of 5
Wonderful and beautiful home. Extremely clean, comfortable and great location. Experiencing the Island from its location was fantastic. The town of Eastsound was charming and home close to Moran State Park. Will certainly come back!
Perfect spot for our family!! It provided everything we needed & more. Five minutes to state park for spectacular hiking/biking/swimming.
House was amazing! Well stocked kitchen and solid construction. Very quiet street. Close to town and beaches. Spent lots of time just hanging. Tons of games. Ready to come back!
Great quiet, secluded location. Perfect for a weekend getaway. 10 mins from eastsound. Had all the things we needed and very cleanly, nice accommodations!
We stayed for an extended holiday weekend and loved every moment. The house was extremely clean when we arrived and were surprised at how the spaces feel more open and spacious than the photos convey. The neighborhood was extremely quiet and yet a convenient 10-minute drive to the grocery store. We saw *tons* of deer around the house and on our short walks along the loop road. The kitchen was very well equipped for cooking - we only seemed to be missing a peeler and ice cream scoop :) We also loved all the recreation equipment available in the garage and enjoyed some badmitton on the front lawn.
Very nice, clean and comfortable home in a quiet, private neighborhood. Orcas is beautiful and our niece who lives in Everett showed us many wonderful areas.
Lovely all around
The home was as described it was very clean and comfortable, the quiet setting in the woods was amazing. It was as beautiful as it looked in the pictures. The home is well stocked with all you need. The process was very easy and communication was wonderful. We will definitely be back. Thank you!
Communication with the owner was easy. The house was immaculate, clean and well stocked. Location is close to Moran State Park which is convenient for the Orcas 25k. I would definitely recommend this house to friends.
Relaxing retreat. Had everything you would ever want in a vacation home. Great spot to read and play games near the warm fire on a chilly day. Would highly recommend.
This is an amazing house with great craftsmanship, very comfortable beds (firm), furniture, kitchen utensils and surroundings. We loved it!
The house was immaculately clean, beautifully decorated. Fully stocked kitchen, and very comfortable beds! The location was great for exploring the island. Thanks for a wonderful stay!
Amazing, comfortable and clean house convenient to everything great about Orcas. Highly recommended!
Quiet cottage in the wood. Much needed couple days with best friends. House was very clean. The back door lock did stick and was hard to open but besides that it was perfect
We loved our visit to Orcas Island - the hiking, biking, and kayaking in Moran State Park - and the house we stayed in was wonderful. The living room, dining room, and kitchen have lots of windows with beautiful trees all around - gorgeous ❤️
Really pleased with the quietness, beauty, and location of this property. Well stocked and plenty of space for all. Not the most comfy pillows and bed but it'll do.
We enjoyed the entire layout and the close proximity to Eastsound & Moran State Park. The wifi was easy to connect and had a strong signal. The wall HVAC were troublesome we thought since they didn’t seem to awake to commands for higher heat from the remotes for several minutes.
