We had a wonderful weekend and the kids and adults loved the property and the moose!
The cabin was in great condition and the owner was accommodating to my group. We loved the open living area and the big deck and yard. It was so quiet and such a great location to get away from the busyness of life. The beds were also very comfortable and all the appliances worked well! I would definitely recommend this place for large family vacations. It's great for building relationships with it's open design and feels like you're always together.
This property was quite enjoyable. The beds and linens were comfortable, kitchen well stocked and overall floor plan easy to mingle or break off for privacy if needed. Although the downstairs can be noisy, you hear every foot step above you. Feedback that I also shared with the property manager: The outdoor boiler was packed full of trash but instructions say not to put trash there. Not sure how or why that's happening. Only realized that because the door to boiler was open when we arrived (with trash nearly falling out). The front door needs adjusting, it's difficult to open and shut. Hallway bathroom water pressure in sink was just a trickle of water. Had just enough TP, no more rolls in the house. There should have been more for a house that sleeps 12-15. To the owners - thank you kindly for choosing to share your beautiful log home with guests. It made for an extra special birthday celebration!
Only one person can shower at a time even though there were 3 showers. Rat feces in a closet Not enough trash bags and toilet paper had to purchase after 2nd day staying in cabin. Bathroom locks were not working. Some wood in balcony was rotting so we couldn't enjoy that part of the cabin.
The property has the most beautiful views we have ever seen! We had a lovely family weekend! Magical walks, a fun time in the quaint city of Fairplay, and much laughter as we all played cards in the spacious cabin made the weekend one we will not forget! The kids and grand kids want to go back soon...
We had a great experience here. We did not have contact with the property manager because we didn't need to. The instructions for the house were very helpful. There is some work to be done on the decks and fenced portion of the property, but they are functional and did not affect us having a great time.
The good: as other have noted this is a beautiful log cabin on a beautiful property. Areas for improvement: Here are some issues I noticed: 1. There are mice that live in the house and enter/exit thru grates beneath the kitchen sink 2. The backyard balcony really needs to be maintenanced/repaired. It's in pretty rough state: a. Banister is rotting b. Some wood panels are raised and could cause people to trip or little toes to be stubbed. 3. The sofas are really awful and not what were in the photos. They were VERY uncomfortable. You can feel the springs and the backing won't stand at the 3rd position so it's always reclined about 45 degrees. 4. There was no outside tables as indicated in the photos. 5. Forget about getting any response via the VRBO app. 6. There was a leak in the roof during the rain. No big deal, just had to put out a bowl to catch the dripping.
Do not stay here. While the property is beautiful and secluded and quite large, the management and communication is trash. We arrived to find that it had not been cleaned after the previous group- beds are unmade with dirty sheets on top, crumbs everywhere, no counters cleaned, a huge stack of dirty dishes in the sink- OH and no running water. This includes sinks, showers, toilets. One of the toilets in the basement even had human feces sitting in it from the previous group. I immediately tried contacting the property manager and had no luck. I called and texted and left voicemails. Finally I got in touch with the Evolve customer service. The first guy hung up on me. The second gal was a very helpful and told me that unfortunately no running water would be available the entire weekend. They “tried” to get in touch with me but apparently the messages didn’t get to me in time?? I still have yet to receive any emails, voicemails, or messages through the app that this was the case and the reservation was supposed to be cancelled. The lady tried to help me find a relocation spot but was unsuccessful (it was a holiday weekend and already 7pm Friday night). She said the best she could do was refund me- fine. At this point my group and I decided to stick it out and stay. We had driven hours to be there and we’re kind of stranded. The next day the property manager showed up and came in very hot about how we were not allowed to be there and she was going to call the sheriff. However no one told me I needed to leave the premise previously? I let the women know I would absolutely be compliant and leave if need be, but it was not made clear that was the case and 15 of my friends and I were kind of stuck. Finally by the end she told me we could stay if we were ok with the situation. At that point what else could we do? I then got contacted by evolve that I should not be there. That was a whole other phone call that had to be handled- thankfully we weee able to stay. The whole stay was stressful and super gross. I slept in a bed that a previous person slept in that hadn’t been cleaned. We had no running water. We had to take trips to town to use the bathroom. You’re better off elsewhere- save the headache and hassle it’s not worth it.
Great place, amazing view with good space. Some cleanliness issues but they were minor but I'm happy with the stay overall
Didn't get to stay here, our trip was canceled the night before we were scheduled to go due to heating and plumbing issues. Because of the cancellation, we had to change all of our plans and wound up not being able to see everything we wanted to see in Colorado.
