this 1600 square foot log home will take your breath away the moment you see it. it offers a beautiful country setting with a big front porch with plenty of chairs for relaxing.plus a out side bar-b-que area all nestled on 100 acres for hicking or just relaxing with nature.the inside has 2 full baths a large kithen with stove refrigerator and dish washer,a large dinning room, and a large living room with fire place upstairs is the master bedroom with a queen size bed.a full bath utility room has washer and dryer and refridgerator and the guest bedroom has a king size bed,a full bed and a set of bunk beds for the kids. it has central heat and air if you prefer not to have a fire.while outside activities is fine leave your 4 wheelers at home to avoid bothering other guests .the cabin is in the mountains of eastern ky a 4x4 is a must because the road is gravel and new gravel is usually loose when on a incline you will likely spin.
Brought the family here for thanksgiving weekend. Absolutely quiet and peaceful. Finally got the rest I’ve been looking for.
This was our second visit and it was as wonderful as the first and can’t wait for our third visit. There is always new places in the area and on the property itself to explore. The owner and the property manager are both wonderful, down home, kind people. Would highly recommend.
Upon arrival for b’day weekend celebration Sept 30-Oct 2, a large earth mover was parked in the driveway. I was informed they had graded the steep gravel driveway the day before but we were paying for a “cabin nestled in the woods” not a parking lot for large machinery. During the tour, we were told the to turn cold water on & off under the kitchen sink if we “had to use it” due to a leak. We soon noticed a leak at hot water connection too so that also needed to be shut off. Couldn’t use DW due to water needing to be on. Only cold water working in downstairs bathroom; sink handles kept falling off when used. A leak in that bathroom had caused the door to swell & could not shut rendering the toilet/shower useless due to a lack of privacy. Someone came to look at kitchen leak but couldn’t fix issue. She did turn the hot water on under the bathroom sink. Apparently she was there the day prior to our arrival fixing the leak in that bathroom & had forgotten to turn it back on. Low water pressure in upstairs bathroom made flushing the toilet difficult. Showering & bathing was very time-consuming with only a trickle of water coming from the faucet. Many light bulbs were burned out. Mouse traps & droppings throughout cabin. Deadbolt to cabin didn’t lock. Gas grill falling apart(gas tank old/rusty) & looks as though it hasn’t been used in years. Outdoor fireplace & fire pit were nice but outdoor kitchen was dirty & needs TLC; we did not cook on it due to the filth. Large porch with only 1 working porch light. Many pans, glasses & eating utensils in kitchen but only 4 place settings, 1 small mixing bowl & 1 small colander. The hiking was nice and we enjoyed being able to bring our dog but this was not a good stay at all. Property description states “cabin with all modern luxuries”…this is FALSE! In our opinions, the amenities were minimal, at best. When owner asked about our stay, I shared only a few of these items (there are many more than I could share in this review) with no response from the owner. Two weeks since staying at this cabin & still no response. We feel this property has so much potential but the owner is neglecting maintenance. Unfortunately, we do not recommend staying here.
First of all, this is a real cabin which is awesome and rare. Everything was in great working condition. There are several outbuilding areas, (including a fire pit with an adjacent building and covered area). There are several natural ponds with good fishing and vast, (I think 2000 acres), areas to hike and explore. We found evidence of black bears and practically all other types of wildlife known to live in this area. The owner is super responsive to communication, (even directing me to the best place to look for bear caves). This is the fourth or fifth stay that I have had at this cabin and the owner continues to make improvements. I recommend this to anyone who wants a relaxing, enjoyable, and authentic experience. FYI: I turned off traction control and drove in low to get up the hill in my Mazda 3 sedan without any problems at all.
My family and myself booked the cabin for a long weekend this summer. Upon entering the cabin we noticed a significant water leak in the bathroom. It had been leaking long enough mold was growing in the doorway where water puddled. When we got ready for bed the 1st night we noticed all of the beds had mouse droppings all over comforters and pillow cases. When attempting to shower there was also mouse droppings all over the towels. The kitchen had no running hot water. There was mouse dropings on the furniture and end tables. My kids and family we're so uncomfortable. We contacted the property manager and we decided to find other accommodations for the rest of our stay. The property manager agreed to refund a portion of our money. I have made contact at least 3 times, him assuring me my refund was on it's way. It has been nearly 45 days and the refund has still not arrived. So disappointing.
Great Communication with the owner and Manager. Thank You Betty for everything
This was our second time staying at this cabin. We absolutely love staying at it and plan to keep visiting it every year. I'm not sure however if somthing happened but I tried reaching out to owner to let them know we had arrived amd never received a reply. Luckily we were able to find keys to get into cabin or else I dont know what we would have done since we drive 5hrs one way to get to property. As well as the bathroom on the second floor for some reason the water pressure was extremely low. We have every intention of going back just assuming it was a fluke or somthing happened as to why we didnt hear back from owner and that we were the unluckily once with the bathroom issue
Another peaceful weekend at the cabin. Our new favorite getaway.
This is our second trip to this hidden gem in the mountains. The pics do not do this place any justice. It is a rustic cabin in the woods and on the side of a mountain. Plenty of space to roam around and explore. Close to great golf courses (gibson bay ) .
It was a wonderful cabin and the folks were so easy to reach and accommodating. The cabin is serene and historic. Even tho it’s a little ways from RRG, the drive was worth it for the beauty of the property.
