Property was peaceful and beautiful, owner was responsive. Home in need of some TLC, had a handful of issues in need of attention that also required our attention as well.
This house was perfect for us since we just needed somewhere to fit all of us and the location made up for all the flaws. Flaws: -Like the prior year reviewers have mentioned, New grill needed!!!!! -Deep cleaning & new paint to the interior would do wonders -6 ball chipped for the pool balls, unplayable -No foosballs and couldn’t find any in town -We didn’t even touch the hot tub. You can smell the chemicals from a mile away and there was a weird bubbly sludge on top. -Had a great horse shoe pit with shoes, but no stakes ? Positives: -Tyler was SUPER responsive. -Had more than enough space for everyone and sheets/beds were clean! -Even though the 6ball was chipped, it was a decent pool table -Big kitchen and although we didn’t have enough pans and decent utensils, we brought our own (from reviewers recommendations) and fitted us just fine. -Has 2 fire pits! We stayed during a fireban so we used wood fire pit for the giant jenga that was provided. 2nd was a huge gas pit that we were allowed to use. -Chipmunks we’re adorbs Other: -The float that someone else suggested was great, though want to add if you go in August it is barely enough water to float in. Most of the spots we had to walk through ankle deep. We still had an amazing time! (You walk upstream about 10 mins and hang a right at the only visitors or owners sign. Great spot to get in and was about an hour or so float to the house) Overall had such a great time. Would rent again.
We didn’t even STAY. This place was in disrepair. From driving up and finding the porch cluttered and siding falling off. Entering the house we found dirty dried footsteps and food/ dirt on the floor. The couches were filthy with dirt, food and animal hair in a place that said no animals. The walls had many repair areas with many scuff marks. The stairs were not cleaned or swept. Up in the master bedroom the closet was full of dirt and tools. The window blinds did not work and there was dead bugs in all of the windowsills. The kitchen was simply gross. The cupboards were filthy with dirt and food, both inside and out. There was a cupboard door that would not close and stayed wide open. There was masking tape holding what hadn’t fallen off of Formica countertops. The top of the cupboard you could see dirt. Also downstairs there was an apparent water leak where there were holes and the paint was falling off. The hot tub was murky brown with foam. We contacted the renter immediately and let him know of some concerns. It just couldn’t be fixed. Not in a timely manner. We had to leave and find another place to stay. Videos and pictures were sent to the renter and I am waiting for a response from him. I am asking for a full refund.
Good: big house, well stocked kitchen, lots of games for everyone to enjoy, beautiful view of the river, kayaks available, owner very responsive when our door code didn’t work when we arrived. Bad: house needs a tremendous amount of TLC. Kitchen cabinets falling off hinges, dishwasher falling out of its cabinet, very uncomfortable beds. Very dated property. A lot of broken or missing items (kitchen counter tops, door trim, etc.) Other: bring bug spray! We were eaten alive by mosquitoes which made the river/outdoor area basically unusable. Bring all shower supplies like shampoo, soap, etc., also bring dish soap, toilet paper and paper towels if you’re staying longer then a day or two. There was no extra on hand. Overall, we had a nice stay because we were together and enjoyed playing games and driving into Bend a couple of days. If the property is significantly updated, we’d be willing to return in the future. Otherwise, we’ll try a new place next time we’re in town.
The location is lovely and private. We had 6 kids under the age of 10 and there was plenty to do, and plenty of space to sleep. We appreciated the hot tub since the river was still pretty fast. It was so nice to have the space to let the kids run, explore and play. There were a couple issues but nothing unmanageable, the owner was very kind and helpful!
The place had plenty space for people to spread out. It was great for our family to have separate spaces and multiple common spaces.
We really enjoyed the location of this property and had several trips down the river rafting. There was plenty of space, so we never felt like we were on top of each other. The teenagers really enjoyed the game room but a lot of things need some TLC. There was only one pool stick with a tip, the foosball table had pieces missing making the rods slip all the way out, the air hockey table has broken goals that will pop up. The hot tub water was VERY high in chemicals, was a slight cloudy green color with a lot of settled dirt at the bottom. This was enough to have everyone avoiding its further use. The cleaning definitely could be done more thoroughly. We found dirty clothes in the washing machine (although there maybe wasn't enough to start a new load.) It was clear under the beds and couches had not been cleaned as we found toddler clothes and quite a bit of garbage. Possibly the worst was the air grate on the wall in the kitchen that had about a quarter inch of dust built up on it. With what sounds like a lot of negative, it really was a great place. I just think it's a good idea to know what to expect. Tyler, the property manager, was great about making an accommodation for me and was always very, very responsive to communication.
This house felt like an amazing retreat on the little Deschutes. Beautiful location! Playing in the water and floating in the river were the highlights for our group which included small children. The house was large enough for our two families though both bunk rooms are downstairs and only a master with a loft upstairs. Not unexpected, the house generally was worn down as others have commented. A word of caution: There were some safety concerns that our group had though, such as a missing screen on a window that was easy to open on the second story, and the hot tub was dangerously high on chemicals (all of us started coughing immediately upon removing the cover) and water was low. I was very disappointed that Tyler decided to ignore my concerns when I brought them forward, though he responded right away to other questions I had prior to this. Based on this, I would probably chose to find a different location when returning to this area.
Our group of adults and teens had a great time! We loved the pool table and air hockey, board games and puzzles. There was plenty of room for everyone. The highlight was definitely floating down the Little Deschutes River right outside the door. We appreciated being able to use the kayaks and tubes. It's a fun house in a beautiful setting!
Our family enjoyed seven days at this property. It was perfect for the entire group which includes kids and adults. We had many floats down the little Deschutes, mountain biked Bend’s trails, off road in the Oregon hills and many nights of barbecuing as the sun went down . In Addition to many nights of family fun competition at shooting pool, playing air hockey and foosball. Both the property manager, Gina, and the owner Tyler were very responsive to all questions. The house was perfect for our family.
loved being close to the river and the neighborhood was great but the house needs deep cleaning and some repairs and the hot tub needs to be checked out because the chemicals were very strong even upstairs, so much so we pulled our kids out of it.and did not use it after that. loved to games that were there and definitely big enough for our group.
The property was amazing with the river right in the backyard but the house was a complete mess...from the argumentative house cleaner asleep on the couch at check-in who stayed around for 2 hours after us getting there, the pee in the toilet in the master bedroom, the taped down countertop, the who knows what all over the couch upstairs, chewing tobacco pouches on the hot tub tables, the hot tub itself that smelled like a dead corpse, the brown water coming out of the faucet's. After booking this spot almost 2 months in advance I just don't understand the complete lack of upkeep or cleanliness from anybody renting a home out.
Kids love the pool table and air hockey. The hot tub didn’t get very hot but was warm enough for the younger kids. We made s’mores and even did a little fishing! Overall it was wonderful and we’d recommend it to friends and family
