Soda Springs, California
Welcome to Serene Lakes! This beautiful and tranquil family community is situated on the Ice Lakes (Lake Dulzura and Lake Serene), less than15 minutes from Truckee. This beautiful and spacious mountain home boasts 3 bedrooms, a huge mudroom, a two car garage and peek lake views from the uncommonly large deck. The open layout allows for ideal family time or entertaining. Additionally, the living and dining room open directly on the deck for outdoor entertaining. The large loft can be used as a rec area and extra sleep space. This beautiful cabin is your dream mountain vacation!
This charming cabin is located one block from Lake Dulzura and across the street from Royal Gorge: the largest cross country ski area in North American boasting 6000 acres of undeveloped beauty. The 90+ miles of trails are used for x-country skiing and snowshoeing in the winter and hiking and mountain-biking when the snow melts. You can swim and play on the beach during the summer and late into the fall. For downhill skiers, this is an ideal location- only minutes away from Soda Springs, Donner, Boreal, and Sugar Bowl.
We had a beautifully quiet Thanksgiving at Serene Lakes.
This house is a gem. The location is right on Serene Lake, which is a super cute small body of water near Sugar Bowl. This was a great advantage on a busy Labor Day weekend because we didn’t have to drive Donner pass pass into Tahoe, and so we were able to avoid big traffic jams coming in and going out. The house itself is rustic yet immaculate. There is a beautiful attention to detail, from the nice modern showers to the fine wine glassware in the kitchen cabinets that indicates this house is loved and used by the owners when they can. The bedrooms are very comfortable, mattresses have just the right degree of firmness to our liking, and the bedsheets and pillows are super cozy. There is a four bunk bedroom which the kids loved. The TV and appliances are all brand new and all worked perfectly well. The neighborhood is very nice. It’s a short walk down to the lake where there is a public beachfront for swimming in the summer. There are public Pickleball courts just a short five minute walk away from the house, so bring your rackets. Although we stayed in September, I assume this would be a great spot if you were staying in the winter and wanted to ski at Sugar Bowl as the house is less than 5 min drive to the lifts. There is a great spot for burgers and beers down the road at the Old 40 Bar & Grill. If you want the “Tahoe experience” without the hassles and high priced resort town prices this very authentic Sierra retreat is the place!
We had a wonderful stay here. The home was lovely, well maintained and very clean. The kitchen was fully equipped with everything we needed to cook and even bake. The neighborhood is well situated, charming, and ideal for families with small children.
