If you plan on popping in and out of town frequently, please note that this home sits probably 20 minutes from downtown Red Lodge due to the gravel road access. Four-wheel drive required all year round just to be on the safe side.

Whether you are wearing Birkenstocks or cowboy boots, you will find something to do here. (Although downtown is paved and we even have sidewalks, Jimmy Choos are probably not a great idea!)

In winter the road ends here. Downhill skiing, snowboarding, snowmobiling, cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, ice skating, sledding and sleigh riding are just the short list of activities that you can do when visiting us.

In summer we revel in the Beartooth Pass opening. We are only 68 miles from Yellowstone Park, but plan on a good two hours` drive as the “Pass” is stunning in high mountain vistas, rocky cliffs, and jeweled lakes. The Custer National Forest is a haven for wildlife including elk, moose, mountain goats, big horn sheep, bears (black and grizzly), mountain lions and wolves. Red Lodge, Montana is a rural community that does offer internet and cell service throughout most geographic areas but, some locations are completely void of any internet or cell service. In town and within a 3-5 mile radius of downtown you will enjoy solid cell signal but during times when our population increases due to events, celebration (such as the Fourth of July), or emergency situations such as a wildfire you will notice that these online and cellular services slow down and sometimes, they can slow down to the point where you have to wait to place a call. We can’t do anything to help in these situations, so we encourage people to enjoy the freedom of being “unplugged” and to be patient.

Interaction with Guests:

Guest will receive emails prior to arrival date with directions and lock box code and pre-stay information.

The Last Best Place hosted by AAA is the VBRO vacation rental by which we will judge all others. Everything about this experience, property, and hosts was superb. If we had to highlight one thing we especially appreciated, it was the communication from the hosts. They kept us informed and offered assistance. Just the right amount and form of communication. Thank you!

The decor was homey and comfortable, big hit with all the females in our party. Cleanliness can’t be topped. Views were awesome as advertised. The beds were wonderful.

This was a great place to stay, a great experience with the place. Enjoyed the living area, hot tub, fire place, remoteness, and accommodations all around. Fridge needs interior light.

We had a wonderful time at LBP. There was a snowfall while we were there and the hot tub was amazing with the views. The views really stand out. The cabin has everything we needed, was clean, and very homey. Loved Red Lodge and enjoyed the local dining. We will definitely stay again should the opportunity present itself.

My team stayed at this property for the 2024 USCSA Alpine Western Region Championship at Red Lodge Mountain. This is a gorgeous property with fantastic views of the mountains. The property is private and the checkout process was incredibly easy. We loved our stay!

Beautiful views. House even better/roomier from the inside. Group areas to spread out and relax together. Could use some dressers and suitcase stands in bedrooms.

This was perfect for views and coming together as a family. Two of the bedrooms were big and beautiful. The top level shower was on smaller side, but has a soaking tub. The cabin had lots of character and a feeling of comfort and relaxation. It truly was a great cabin and beautiful location. We were there in July and it was hot. There is a mini split only in the top bedroom. It was warm the first night and day in the main level bedroom and common area. There were box fans to use to help cool those areas. It stayed pretty warm and was very loud with fans going, but we managed. It cooled at night to help those on main level bedroom to sleep OK. If you are when it is continuously HOT, I’m not sure the main level would ever cool to comfort without the loud box fans. The cabin is beautiful and was clean. They had fresh flowers on the large dining room table when we arrived . The kitchen had everything you needed to cook! An extra refrigerator (in laundry area) was a great surprise to keep drinks in. I would definitely go back, again. It was everything and more. I would not hesitate to stay here , again unless it is in the winter with the crazy steep hill going up the mountain to the cabin. That is the beauty of this place is that IT IS in the mountains. It is stated 4WD is needed with no exception to winter or long periods of rain due to steep road. We were there with 4WD SUV in July and the 4WD was not needed. We got up no issue at all.

The home was better in person than even in the pictures. The home was very clean. They thought of extra things, had fresh flowers to welcome us and used local shampoo and soap. I would highly recommend and hope to come back!
