We loved our stay! Be mindful stairs and slopes are numerous! This would not be good for those with mobility issues. Bedrooms are all upstairs and entire shared living space is downstairs, which still requires walking down the sloped gravel drive if you come in the back doors. Appreciated the linens and bath towels were included and the labeled starter packs of products in the kitchen and bathroom but it did give it more of a hotel feel vs the cozy home feel we typically look for in vrbos. Can’t say enough great things about the amount space to entertain/relax. The dining areas inside and out, the covered deck, fire pit, dock, yard etc., loved it all!! The host was communicative and gave great instructions for check in/out/trash pick up but a heads up on the lawn care coming to mow would have been nice. Other reviews mentioned construction on both sides of the property, while both are still underway there was only a couple times they were actively working or making noise during our week 9/6-13. Additionally, there was no vacuum, broom or mop in the house. Fortunately dollar general is only about 10 min away and I got one to use and donated to the property. State park isn’t too far and the Whitehouse Store had most of what we needed, other bigger stores (food lion/kroger/walmart) are further 25 away. The little cove was quiet and so peaceful, would be great for kids to play right at the dock.

We had a wonderful time! We vacation at SML every summer and this has by far been our best experience with a home. The location and amenities were perfect.

Our first trip to Smith Mountain Lake. The home was beautiful and clean, with plenty of room for everyone and kid friendly. Our only negative was the construction and remodeling of three homes right next to it. 0700 am noise was not a relaxing morning at the lake. I would definitely consider staying there again, after the neighbors are done.

Fabulous weekend getaway with young kids. Very clean property, kitchen included all necessary items, beautiful and peaceful water views from expansive decks. Dock in excellent condition and available kayaks made for a fun adventure across the lake! 15 min to state park for great beach access. Would definitely return to this property. Thanks for a fun, easy weekend!

Wonderful getaway over long weekend. Layout of the house smartly set up with gathering area downstairs and quiet rooms upstairs. 5-star rating for most things except for visitors bringing their own boat. Dock access extremely limited, I made it work but it felt like I was intruding. Mitchell’s Marina has a boat ramp for access ($5 donation) and the crew there were great to interact with, highly recommended but slips are limited hourly.

Stayed for a week in July with the family, & everyone ranging from 7 to 71 had a great time. Great location on the lake in a little cove that offers a good buffer from the waves & noise of the boats, but isn't so deep that you don't have a good view of the lake. The big swim dock was great & provided ample room for everyone & all our stuff. There was a rope swing that the kids & smaller adults had a great time on. There is a good sturdy deep ladder on the dock for getting out of the water. The fishing from the dock was excellent, & we caught lots of little fish. There was a paddle board and two kayaks, too. Our 25' boat fit on the outside of the dock next to the owner's boat. However, that part of the dock is maybe 16 wide, so made it difficult to get to & from the boat. The 3 cleats on the dock were plastic & only held in place with deck screws. One of them had already broken in half before we arrived. Would recommend the host replace these with proper metal cleats that are through-bolted. But otherwise our boat did fine for a whole week docked there, & the approach angle was easy. The house itself was great. Big dining table, nice couch & chairs. Beds soft and comfortable, but could have used more spare blankets. Upper patio had ceiling fans. Upstairs toilets were round-style & low, but functional. Downstairs toilet was oval and taller. Nice washer & dryer. Kitchen was good, but no garbage disposal. Overall, excellent house! Host was great. Would stay again.

It is a beautiful property in an awesome location. The boat dock is beautiful HOWEVER, the docking slip for guests leaves much to be desired. It is treacherous at best to load and unload from the boat- very narrow - no real dock on which to walk - must shimmy around structural support pole to get to actual dock. We were glad to not have small children or older adults on this trip.
