My wife and I stayed several nights to celebrate our anniversary. The home is very comfortable and nicely decorated. The home for us was very peaceful and really captured the lake cabin feeling. We were able to turn off work and enjoy waking up to the view of the lake or enjoy the amenities that Big Canoe has to offer.
Our second stat at Big Canoe overall. The house was large and right on the lake which was accessible from the house for paddle boards, etc. The negative is the trip from the house down the steps to the water and back is not the easiest. We did fine but I could see it as too difficult for older visitors particularly. Small drive with a lot of turns on narrow roads to the marina and water areas. Again nothing too bad but I think better if aware on front end and I would not arrive at night the first time you go. Overall we loved it and would stay again.
Our check in date was Tuesday, November 22nd. All information about checking in and checking out was sent to my home email on Wednesday the 23rd. and I do not receive emails on my phone. Consequently, we had no knowledge of the key pad code, (which didn't work in any case, and the door was wide open when we arrived and couldn't be locked from the outside). What we were supposed to do on checkout, etc. Apparently, the previous renters did not get it either, as they left all their decomposing garbage under the sink. I could go on and on about the rusty grill that should have been disposed of years ago, (wish I could post pictures of this, far more rust than grill) the gas fireplace that didn't work, the windows that were so covered with cobwebs and children's handprints you couldn't see out of some of them, the television that required three remotes to operate, the bathroom sink that wouldn't drain, the fact that there was one wash cloth and four towels in a house that is supposed to sleep 8 for four days, but I'm tired of thinking about how disappointing the entire experience was for over $2000.00 for four days. Never again with this company.
