Lake Barkley Waterfront with Private Covered Dock

This is the “horror” house rental story. The house was great, but spiderwebs and rodent droppings are present. We killed many spiders, sprayed raid and couldn’t breathe, which triggered us to open windows and led to more bugs and spiders. We had a couple bites. There is no way we could sleep here I confirmed the dock had a ladder and I confirmed we could swim off the dock however, there was no ladder, and the sides of the dock were covered in moss. We opened the grill and it had mud dobber nests in the grill and those nests were all around the deck and roof. This killed my family’s plans. Family flew in from another state and my sister and I drove in from other states. We were practically stranded. Since it was the 4th of July it was hard to find a place to stay. We ended up not being on the lake and stayed in a hotel. It created tension and frustration. Very disappointing and upsetting. This house could be a great rental with some work. I want to mention the owner was very apologetic and refunded my money for the house. I am not uploading pictures but I think the reader gets the picture.

We enjoyed the lake house, it was perfect for our party of 6 people. It would have been more perfect if lake had not already been lowered. We brought our own boat but couldn’t access the house’s private dock because it was too shallow. House was close to state park to launch the boat, so we still enjoyed the lake every day of our stay. We would return to this lake house but would verify if dock will be accessible.

We enjoyed the lake house! We had an overall great time. Bathroom s a little disappointing but was functional....if someone in our group had been handicapped in anyway it would not have worked. A more comfortable living area furniture would have been appreciated since rain was in our area.

House was cozy and spacious; all the woodwork reminded us of cabins on the Great Lakes we've stayed in. No major problems with the house, but a couple of doorknobs need replaced, the deck and porch need repainted, the frig doesn't cool as well as it should, a bedside table next to one of the beds would've been nice, higher wattage lights in most of the fixtures would've provided better lighting, and a heads up that the location has poor cell phone coverage (for Sprint, Verizon) would've been helpful, and there is a missing board on the walkway to the floating dock which is a liability issue waiting to happen. Overall a great place, and would definitely recommend it to friends! Would without a doubt stay there again.

Great location on a great cove! Dock was excellent plenty of room. Love the 3 bathrooms and the fantastic beach right around corner. Neighbors are great! Owners very responsive. Highly recommend would stay again.

My family really enjoyed being on the lake. Our trip was very peaceful with easy boat access. One of our favorite places was the porch swing on the large wraparound porch. Plenty of room for everyone and with only 1 tv and limited internet access it meant minimal distractions. Although the home was dated it was perfect for all of us to enjoy one another's company.

The house was awesome for the 7 of us for the week. It is a wonderful location and so very quite and private. We truly loved our stay. We enjoyed the porch with the fans most everyday.

There were 3 couples that stayed for 4 nights and we were all very comfortable. The location was great, only thing was that the water was very low but there is a note about that so we knew ahead of time what to expect. Great value for your money, would definitely come back!
