The location was great, we can’t wait to book it again!
Perfect spot to walk in to Bar Harbor or Bar island everyday. really cool old house with plenty of room
The house had everything. I would book this again in a second.
Our family of 12 (ages 66 - 2) enjoyed our stay. Perfect location! Short drive to Acadia NP. Walking distance to Bar Harbor restaurants, sand bar, shopping and grocery store. Never needed to deal with parking! House is old, but we knew that when we booked it. Wonderful week.
Location could not be better. Walking distance to grocery store, bike rentals, kayak rentals, restaurants, shuttles, whale watching, tours, etc. The house has pros and cons. On the pro side, the house is roomy. The kitchen is large and well stocked with cookware. There is wifi and a nice foosball table. On the con side, the house is in major need of love. The furniture is old and very dusty and of salvage yard quality. Our group had lots of allergy issues due to dust and mildew in the home. The sleeper sofa on the porch doesn't open because the porch isn't wide enough for it. The bedrooms have a college dorm vibe... Many of the doors in the house do not close or even hold in a closed position. The house has not been professionally maintained as evidenced by a hook and eye necessary to keep one of bathroom doors from swinging open. Trust me that it's not a charming feature. The downstairs bathroom has no way to keep you private, so be sure everyone remembers to knock. The shower curtains are also dorm quality and many of the hooks are pulled out. There is a hodge podge of old chairs in the kitchen which get the job done, but you'll get a flashback to college when you rented a house that the owner had given up on. There is considerable rot on the exterior of the home and some gutters that are held up by a makeshift wooden post. That won't affect your stay, but it gives you an idea of the advanced state of neglect. If that doesn't bother you, you will love it.
This large house was a great size for our family group of 10. The proximity to the main streets of Bar Harbor allowed the teenagers to have the freedom to shop or dine on their own. On the downside, the house needs some repairs. For instance, the roof leaked in the closed in porch when it rained. The furniture in the sitting rooms is old and can be thought of as period appropriate, but the cushions on the sofas and chairs have lost their support and are uncomfortable. While the condition of the home and its furnishings need attention, the size and location of the home make it one to consider when visiting Bar Harbor.
Great stay, loved the town and character of the house
This house was nice and large for an extended family. The porch was a great place to hang out in the morning and there was plenty of space for the kids to keep busy and have fun.
We had 12 in our family party- family members ranging from 20 to 55 with significant others stayed. The property is an older property with a lot of character. It easily held the 12 of us. Location was AMAZING! We were directly across from the sand bar connecting the harbor to Bar Island. Steps from all down town locations. Close as can be to Acadia Park. The supermarket is directly behind the house. It was perfect!
Great location but cobwebs, moldy showers, burned out lightbulbs, and a non-working and dirty oven put a damper on a premium-priced experience.
Location is great- easy walk to town- close to Bar Island sand bar walk. Hikes in NP were a great variety. Food in town good.
Lovely.
Three generations of our family enjoyed our stay here. We loved the porch, large kitchen, and plenty of bedrooms and living spaces for spreading out. Easy walk to grocery store and sights of Bar Harbor. Expect some quirks of an old house, enjoy the sights of the surrounding historic district. Loved the quick walk to the sand bar, a great place for kids to explore in the water. Overall, an excellent choice for staying in Bar Harbor.
This beautiful historic home was all that we had hoped for - perfect location, comfortable and clean, and very well stocked. Our only disappointment was the grill, which was ok for hot dogs, but needing to be repaired. That said, everything else about the house we loved !!
This was the perfect place for our large family to stay together (4 months to 60+). There was enough space for everyone to have privacy while also staying connected, sharing meals, playing games, and relaxing. It’s within walking distance of pretty much everything in Bar Harbor, including the shuttle. Access to Bar Island is almost across the street and provided hours of fun for the kids (picture crabs, hermit crabs, starfish…). Just beautiful. The house was well stocked. Our large group appreciated the two kitchens and double sets of washer and dryer. The only thing that bothered me (a bit of a clean freak), was the cleanliness of the home. I don’t think this is a reflection of the owners, who were incredibly gracious and communicated very well, but the cleaners hired to manage turnover. It’s a charming house with tons of character! We also loved the big porch. Thanks Angelique for a wonderful stay!
Great location. Lotta of room and charm. Make sure to understand no air conditioning - which on most days makes no difference. Would happily stay again.
The house’s location couldn’t be any more convenient to local restaurants, the infamous Bar Island walk, grocery store and the town itself. We (6 adults and 4 kids) had plenty of space and the house was well suited to our need o access multiple trails and daily excursions. Some of the furnishings need updating but we didn’t come to Bar Harbor to stay indoors. There was an enclosed porch surrounding two sides of the property which provided excellent space for games and sharing conversations.
Plenty of space with room to spare for me and husband, his son, my two sisters, bro-in-law, and nephew. The house itself has a lot of old-time charm and personality that we all appreciated. Great modern kitchen and gracious dining room for all of us to gather for family dinners at night and we loved having the second small kitchen for overflow storage. I also had laundry room envy. The porch was another prime gathering place (another floor lamp would be welcome) and our favorite TV time was watching our Golden State Warriors win the NBA Championship in the spacious and comfortable living room. The location of the house was perfect walking distance to downtown shops and restaurants, grocery store, shore path and Bar Island. Our east/west coast family had an excellent stay!
This house is possibly the best location in Bar Harbor for two families of 5. One block from the grocery store and walking distance to all Bar Harbor has to offer. The house sleeps 10 very comfortably and provides plenty of rooms for families to relax. Expect features of a 130 year old house, such as slanted floors, but those just add to the character of the house. We would love to come back and rent this house again.
The house had a beautiful charm with so much space to spread out in! The highlight for our family was the location...Really short walk to restaurants, shopping, groceries, and most importantly, the sand bar at low tide. So much fun!
