**Lake levels fluctuate throughout the year. Even with lowered lake levels, fishing is not compromised and public access ramps are open all year, however, direct access from this property may be minimal during these months.
My husband and I celebrated our 30th wedding anniversary this year. He had a major health event this past summer so we wanted a place that we could relax and just enjoy each other's company. This home was absolutely perfect. The outdoor landscaping at this property is the star of the show. There are walkways, a stone bench, and a fire pit. Lake Fontana is drained at the end of summer. What is left behind is Alarka Creek with its rushing water sounds. We thought we would go into town more often but we found ourselves drawn to spending time by the fire pit or in the hot tub. Make sure you have the directions to the property on paper. We arrived after dark and it was a little tricky finding the drive (which is actually a bridge over the creek). The roadway to the home has very narrow bridges, and a one lane underpass. We live in very flat Eastern NC so this added to the adventure for us.
100% awesome rental!!! Very nice, clean and scenic. Driveway could be a little sketchy depending on the weather but nothing horrible at all.
Nice place, a little mildew smell permeates the place.
Just as advertised Very beautiful location Would recommend
Had a nice long weekend at this property. House was clean and comfortable. Wifi was not very reliable but sometimes I expect that in the mountains. We enjoyed swimming and the wildlife we spotted. Firepit, outdoor lighting and outdoor speakers made evenings very nice Hot tub was damaged but property managers were very gracious about it. Now if they could only get the fish in the lake to be cooperative everything would be perfect.
The house is very lovely and clean. The view is beautiful. Everything needed for a short stay was provided -- except firewood. No complications whatsoever. The only negative was the smell of the water that is within the house. It smells strongly of sulfur. We thought it would go away after the water has been run through the pipes. It did not.
Beautiful spot off the beaten path. A few days off to spend with my boys.
My favorite cabin stay of all time - it was perfect and amazing
We had a good week. The house is in a nice location. It’s fairly quiet with only a little street noise. We’d go again sometime!
The house is everything that is listed. We had a fabulous time. I highly recommend renting a slingshot for the day it was so much fun. If you want to fish… The marina is 5 minutes down the road and we did rent a boat but I think money would be better spent on a guided fishing trip.
we enjoyed being in the area and the access to nice hiking. being on the water was great.
Relaxing weekend with lots to do. Be mindful of the low water levels in the spring. They start releasing water from the damn in mid-May. Otherwise, a great place!
The property is well kept. The exterior landscaping was very well thought out and absolutely beautiful. The water was lower when we went but it was still absolutely beautiful. My suggestion would be to add lights around the jacuzzi. It's really dark over there in the evening! The firepit is very nice but some of the chairs are dry rotted. The beds were really comfy and the view from the upstairs loft was breath taking! We REALLY enjoyed our stay here and would absolutely stay again!
Very nice secluded rental , everything thing was on point. Will definitely rent again.
My wife and I decided to do something different this year and get away for Thanksgiving. Found this cabin online and really like the idea of the fire pit near the water. This was not the most inexpensive option available but was definitely enjoyable and very well appointed.
Cabin is beautiful and clean. Location is great. Our only complaint was that the description said that the water levels would drop AFTER Labor Day and they were already down when we arrived the week before. I don’t believe that is fault of the property owner or VRBO, it’s TVA’s deal, but I really wish I had been notified when they were dropped 3 weeks prior.
We stayed from Tuesday to Saturday. We did enjoy our stay and would book again, however we would be more prepared next time. We had no problem with the directions using Apple Maps and the property directions. Again, there is no cell service but Wi-Fi was excellent when we did use it. The drive way is very steep, and you cannot see at the top. There should be a mirror of some sort to help with that. You wouldn’t know if another car is coming once you hit the peak of the driveway. The neighbor’s dog used the bathroom all in our parking pad, so that sucked. There were several people fishing and using the boat ramp during the week. No problem if it’s the community boat dock, but at least hang some type of curtains or blinds to give the privacy feeling. Getting out of the shower was a trick, because the neighbors could see us once you hit a certain spot. The feeling of privacy was not there. However communication with the property managers and checkin was super easy! The overall scene was great. We fished, not much in the lake and def. Not much was biting, used the hot tub, and enjoyed our stay other than the constant seeing people walk in front of the house.
Very nice place. We enjoyed the hot tub, fire pit, grill, and location for access to lake & Bryson City. Would stay there again. Hoping it is available. Upstairs bedroom is a loft. So, privacy not so great up there.
Absolutely beautiful and extremely clean
Not alot I can say except beautiful. The view was gorgeous so was the cabin. The river was beautiful and full of fish. We couldn't have found a more beautiful place to stay. WE WILL BE BACK
Loved everything about the cabin and the customer service was excellent. We'll definitely be back! Management Response: Thank you! We'd be happy to host you again!
We loved the property. Peaceful, beautiful place. The water was just coming up so the fish weren't very plentiful but it was still a lot of fun. Nice firepit area. Great porch, good breezes. Would like to go again.
Very peaceful
Thanks for the wonderful experience . We have suggested you to 2 other families.
