Kawela Kai on the Beach

The proximity to the beach and water is amazing. The house is very comfortable and has all the things you need for a beach vacation. The location is great close to lots of beautiful beaches and bays. It feels much more like a locals hang out than a tourist trap. Mark, Nancy and Snoopy are wonderful hosts and will do what they can to make your vacation everything you want it to be.

Our stay at Kawela Kai was nothing short of amazing, even with the pending Kona stormthat hit the island at the end of our stay!Mark was so helpful and we all loved talking to him for tips on our activities or just some of the many stories he shared with us. The house was perfect for our family of five and had plenty of gear for playing in the ocean. Loved having the washer and dryer available to use. Kitchen was also well stocked with pots and dishes to accommodate us, as well as some pantry basics that we were able to use and saved us from having to buy. The location was great to experience the charm of the north shore. We could have sat on the beach all day everyday-absolutely beautiful location!

My family and I just stayed at this property in January & absolutely loved our visit. Mark, the host, was beyond accommodating and made us feel welcomed. The house is steps away from your own private beach oasis and even has a lovely grass area for lounging. Prime location, beautiful sunsets, clean amenities - this house has everything you will need & then some. Thank you Mark! We will definitely stay here again! Aloha!

This was our third time here….we never tire of coming to this wonderful place! It’s a very comfortable house that is just steps from the beach. Mark, Nancy and Snoopy couldn’t be more welcoming and wonderful. We already booked for next year while sitting on the deck looking out on the ocean.

Great stay for our little group. This is a great set up for kids with the beach right there. Warm and friendly hosts and neighbors. Gecko friends too!

Quiet beautiful location.

It was perfect....a little home away from home.

Overall impression was jaw-dropping! The pictures do not do it justice! It's much bigger and spacious in person, even with six adults and a one-year-old. The rooms were clean and accommodating, with large fans. The place felt so peaceful and private.The main selling point was having a beach literally in your backyard, which made it hard to get out and see the rest of the island. Sitting out under the sun and the ocean breeze was truly a slice of heavenly paradise! Ted’s Bakery, the grocery store, and restaurants/food trucks are only a 15-minute drive away!We're lucky to see some sea turtles pop up in our backyard, and if you want to get a closer look at the reef, there are some nice snorkeling gear included! Mark and his dog, Snoopy, were incredibly warm, welcoming, kind, and friendly! We enjoyed their hospitality during our stay.

Beautiful and peaceful

Beautiful location on the beach. Plenty of room inside and out. Mark and Nancy were outstanding hosts! Great recommendations for lunch and dinner. We ate at the house for our breakfasts. The beach is quiet and right off the property. The private drive is tucked away but very easy to get in and out of. We would definitely love to stay here again!

We had the most wonderful time staying at the beach house. Mark and Snoopy are the most gracious hosts. They had everything we needed to ensure our stay was everything it could be.

Terrific house, hosts, and location. House was bigger than thought, right on an almost private beach, and with all necessary amenities. Mark, Nancy, and Snoopy were phenomenal hosts: very friendly, accommodating, and knowledgeable without ever being intrusive. Location was great for exploring the north shore and being away from touristy Honolulu, while still close enough to everything for an easy drive, even in Honolulu. Of all the places we’ve stayed, our favorite house, hosts, and location. Too much to recommend on a trip here so I just suggest experience it for yourself. Had a fantastic stay at Kawela Kai on the beach! The view and access to the ocean was amazing. We had turtles right next to us while swimming! House had everything that we needed and then some! If you are looking for a comfortable home to rest your head between activities, this is the place for you.

Very comfortable home in a beautiful spot right on the ocean. The house was comfortable and clean. It was not huge, but comfortable for 6 adults. One of the bedrooms had a curtain divider for one of the walls, but it was not a problem for our group. The room was still private enough. The lanai was peaceful and private with great views, and our new little friend, Snoopy, greeted us there every morning.

Mark is the BEST!!! He is such a great host, so helpful, cheerful and his side kick Snoopy is perfect. The beach house is wonderful. Lots of essentials that were so helpful: beach towels, beach chairs, laundry detergent, a stocked bathroom closet, kitchen essentials complete with coffee. I cannot say enough. This is the most beautiful place to stay. Big thanks to Mark and Snoopy for everything.

This was my family’s second visit to Mark’s house on the North Shore of Oahu. Wonderful house with a huge lanai overlooking beach and ocean. Just a few steps from house down to a very private, secluded beach. House is clean and comfortable. Mark (and constant companion dog Snoopy) were there to welcome us when we arrived and checked in with us daily to see if we had any needs. We had a wonderful 10 day vacation amongst the best surfing beaches in the world. Best vacation rental in Hawaii I have ever stayed in and we hope to be back next year!

We loved our week at Kawela Kai. The location has to be seen to be believed. Absolutely incredible. The house has everything you need for a family and the kitchen is well equipped. Mark was an amazing host and we really enjoyed talking with him and learning about the history of the area and his adventures. We can't wait to come back.

My husband and I traveled to the North Shore from the San Juan Islands in Washington state with our daughter and my sister. We are both having serious health issues and needed their help to be able to vacation. We loved the view, smell and sound of the ocean whether sitting on the deck, on the lawn or on the beach. The ocean is accessible when surf is down and tide low with a wonderful pool to swim in. The house is stocked with anything you could possibly need but we brought a lot of meals home to eat in our beautiful setting. The location is ideal between Turtle Bay, Kuhuku and Laie for good eats or Sunset and Haleiwa. We went both directions for plate lunches, shrimp, burgers, and shave ice. There are also a Foodland and Longs both directions. Mark and Nancy are welcoming, accessible, and a wealth of history on island living. We will gladly stay here again!

The property was just as advertised. Clean, well stocked with essentials and items for the beach and in a wonderful location. The host was friendly and helpful, I would definitely book again.

Quaint bungalow right on the beach. Excellent location! Although it was big wave season (February), we were able to plunge directly in front of the property, and Kawela Bay was a 10 min walk away for swimming and hiking. A short drive to the big wave surfing beaches. Amazing sunsets and whale sightings right from the lanai. Communication was great. Mark and Snoopy were wonderful hosts!

Met up with friends to enjoy the North Shore. The property was located off the highway and on the beach. We spent time chilling on the lanai watching waves, sunrises, sunsets, walks on the beach. Good location for short road trips, close to Waimea Bay and Pipe Line where we watched surf competitions. Also close to restaurants and Polynesian Cultural Center. The house, property, and location was perfect for our North Shore experience. As far as hosts go, Mark and Nancy are the best.

We loved staying at Kawela Kai. The beach, views, ocean swimming were all within 30 steps of the lanai (gorgeous deck). All our everyday stresses were removed from our souls. Mark and Snoopy were very friendly. Loved the stay. theknowledgeable

This place is a gem. It has everything you need while remaining simplistic. We had kids, surfers, porchers, and even some that had to get some work done during the stay - and everyone loved the house! It is close to all the hotspots of the northshore, but feels extremely private. The owners were accessible during our stay and they couldn’t be more kind and helpful with any questions we had. It is a hard place to have to leave!

This was our second time staying here and won’t be our last. The location can’t be beat…steps away from the beach. Sitting on the patio watching the waves everyday was just magical. The house is wonderful and has everything you might need. Our hosts, Mark, Nancy and Snoopy are absolute gems. They felt like family to us! Already planning for next year!

This house is our favorite place to hang and chill on the north shore. The location is unbelievable just a few short steps from the beach. There is a wonderful swimming hole right in front of the house. The porch is a great place from waking up in the morning with coffee to watching the sunset with mai tais. Mark, Nancy, and Snoopy are the perfect hosts. They always responded quickly to any request. We can't imagine having a better experience. We loved the house and location on the north shore! So relaxing watching the tea turtles feed and play every day right in front of the house in the protected area. Snorkeling there was beautiful when conditions allow. Watched some of the most beautiful and vivid rainbows and sunsets we’ve ever seen. Mark and his wife were great and accessible hosts. And of course we loved Snoopy!

Great stay! Mark and snoopy’s place is great on the north shore. He has great communication with you during your stay. He added positively to our entire experience in Oahu. He gave us recommendations of where to eat etc. He was spot on. Loved the bike trails near the home. The home you are staying at is only the top floor. You do need to walk up stairs to get into the home. There are 2 private bedrooms with a 3rd room able to be sanction off with a heavy curtain. The main bedroom is King and has an attached bathroom with tub and shower. The 2nd bedroom has a Queen and the bathroom is across the haul from the bedroom. The washer and dryer are in this bathroom. The 3rd bedroom opens into the living room if you do not have the heavy curtain shut. The kitchen has everything you would ever need. You are staying here for the views. It does need a coat of paint and could be a little cleaner but again, you are staying because you are directly on the beach. This is such a nice area. We would 100% stay here again.

We can not say enough about how much we enjoyed our stay. Mark, Nancy and Snoopy made our trip even better. We felt the Aloha spirit every second we stayed, Our adult kids loved it, we loved the access to the beach and we were close to restaurants and shopping. Sunsets were our favorite time. But we are incredibly grateful for the warm hospitality and we plan on coming back very soon! Mahalo Mark!
