This vacation rental welcomes up to three dogs per reservation year-round and for off-season monthly rentals.
Three flat screen TV's with DVD players, stereo and wireless internet access. This ocean view home has a screened porch with two tables and chairs. Out back is a fenced area perfect for canine guests. There is also an outside shower with hot and cold water, a park grill, and plenty of parking in the front and back (enough room to bring your boat!). Inside, one bathroom is partially handicap accessible with 36-inch doorways and a roll-in shower.
The property was not as advertised in the photos. Pro: Proximity to the beach. Cons: Lack of maintenance and overall deterioration and condition of the property. This is more kin to a Northwoods fishing cabin than a beach resort, beach property. Old, poor condition furniture and furnishings. Very rough condition.
Pros: The neighborhood and location are wonderful. We enjoyed live music, a craft fair, and the splash pad at the park, conveniently located directly behind the house during our stay. There were 3 Beach access paths, all within one block of the house, and that was a really nice feature. A grocery store, gift shop, Dole Whip stand, and pizza place are all within walking distance. The back yard is perfect for grilling. The fenced in area is small, but perfect for one or two dogs to play and do their business. (Sidenote: the back yard is covered in these tiny yellow flowers that pop opening bloom as the sun sets!) The bedrooms were decently large and sufficient in furnishings. Lots of drawers and closet space. The larger bathroom is very nice and accurate to the listed description. Cons: The smaller bathroom had a very rough looking bathtub with a lot of stains. We arrived to the last tenants bag of dirty linens on the screened in porch. This bag sat there the entire duration of our stay, which was kinda gross. We found underwear in the dresser drawers in one bedroom and in another we found glass bottles and dirty clothes under the bed. Many of the throw pillows have mildew, especially on the screened porch. The game room is an old, uninsulated porch and becomes very hot for whoever is sleeping in the twin bed. Dirty dishes were still in the dishwasher upon our arrival. One giant roach crawled from under the sofa and terrified our kids but I get that when people run in and out of the house and this could allow insects in and understand. Only one bath towel and one washcloth per person is provided, so I recommend bringing your own bath linens should you need more. Electrical outlets are limited in number in many rooms. So, if you have a lot of devices that need charged or plugged in be aware. The screened porch could definitely use some love and finesse, there is visual damage to the ceiling and the deck and wooden boundary are very rough. We had 3 splinters in the kids feet during our 7 day stay. The view to the ocean is obstructed by newly constructed houses, but there is a beach access directly across the street. Please do watch out for the ant hills in the driveway and back yard, they do bite! The west side neighboring house is quite an eyesore. It has been severly damaged and has broken windows, busted in doors, and an overgrown lot. If I were to rate this on a 1-10 scale with 10 being my dream rental I'd give this a 4.25.
The house was very comfortable. The two front bedrooms were cooler and the back bedroom was a bit warmer, which suited me. The bathroom of the dining room has a rainfall shower. The kitchen was well stocked with dishes and cooking equipment. It worked well having my friend's two small dogs stay with us. The fenced in area in the back worked well for them. The house is next to a park with a ball field. Every Monday morning in the summer there is a farmer's market and craft fair, which was a lot of fun. And there was a free concert on Thursday evening. We went multiple times to the Haag and Sons fish market for delicious fresh fish and shrimp. The beach is a short walk via the public path. The only downsides were that there isn't an ocean view. Last year the town built a berm to protect the beach and it took away the view. We understand the need for it, but the ad and pictures should be updated since they are misleading. There is a lot of traffic on Beach St. so it's a bit noisy. And there were a number of nails on the ground on the side of the house where there must have been construction in the past. Someone needs to go out with a metal detector to pick them up. Otherwise we had a wonderful week.
We were pleasantly surprised by the comfortable arrangement of space except for the unusual placement of the bathroom with walk in shower.
Property location is convenient to everything. Screened front porch is great. Outside shower is very nice. Kitchen is well-equipped. House has nice TVs, lots of sleeping accommodations, and the provided linen service and having the bed already made when you arrive is great! Needs a thorough cleaning. It is advertised as ocean views but there are two houses being built across the street so those views are obstructed. Plus, there is a portable toilet right across the street -first thing you see when sitting on the screened porch. Not to mention construction noise starting at 8 am. I think the price we paid included a premium for ocean view and we certainly didn’t have that. The price needs to be adjusted for that.
