We really enjoyed our stay. Lots for people to do with all the games. Plenty of room and easy to keep clean.
We really enjoyed our stay, great location and house was clean. Communication with the host was timely as well. Our recommendation would be upgrade some of the kitchen pots, pans and utensils and add a fireplace.
Our party included 6 adults, a teen and a 12 year old child, so we occupied every bathroom, bedroom and space in the house for 3 nights. I chose the rental mainly because of the ping pong, foosball and pool tables for the kids to enjoy, which they did. There were no other games or books in the house, however there was a Spotify app in the TV to enjoy music. The house was clean but we did see quite a few ants and bugs inside and rodent droppings in the garage. There were several minor cosmetic issues, such as loose floor molding, doorknobs that didn't latch, toilet paper holder off the wall, broken jagged drawer in one fridge, broken hardware on the ping pong table. The kitchen was pretty well equipped but the can opener did not work, none of the larger knives were very sharp, nor were there any kitchen towels (recommend bringing any of these items you might need). We did not use the grill because it was very rusty didn't look safe to use. Overall the house met expectations and the location is excellent, the beds were reasonably comfortable. Renters should be very careful of the step down to the lower level stairs. The flooring is deceptive and we had some older folks were not able to see the step and lost their footing there at first. Other positives - 2 full size refrigerators with freezers (one up / one downstairs, no icemakers), lots of pantry and closet space, room for at least 4 cars to park, one thermostat on each floor. Would stay again!
Peaceful and beautiful
Functional property for a group
We had 14 people in our group from age 11 to 65. Plenty of room and comfortable beds. We had a great time!
Nice quiet location and very clean house. Owner and property manger were very responsive. Lots of fun in the game room playing pool and foosball. Plent of room to spread out and enjoy. We had a great time.
House was great. Clean and plenty of space for our group of 8.
It was a pleasant experience from check in to check out. However you may have to upgrade your stove soon, otherwise my mom enjoyed her 86th birthday celebration with kids, grands and great grands.
My parents wanted to visit the Massanutten area to celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary and Absolute Retreat fit the bill! We enjoyed having the primary bedroom and en-suite bath on the main floor for our aging parents and also having the basement to play when they went to bed. We enjoyed the ping pong table in the garage (only one step down for my mother!) and the pool table in the basement. Per the reviews, I packed extra kitchen supplies but was surprised that the previously missing items had been replaced. The house had many starter items including dish/hand soap, paper towels, a couple of trash bags, toilet paper, etc. Does the house need a little TLC? Yes. Would we stay here again? Also yes.
The kitchen could use some plastic cups, a better can opener, and the couch pillows need to be replaced, but overall it provided everything we needed for our stay. We especially liked the ping-pong and pool tables. The game table downstairs was perfect for board and card games.
We really enjoyed the stay. The house was clean and as listed. We all had a good time.
Check-in process was smooth and efficient. The place was spacious and had good amenities for games and such. The only suggestion I would have is to keep some hand towels for guests.
