Inviting and Serene Home on Monroe Bay Creek

We had a wonderful stay at this tucked-back, off-the-road Colonial Beach home. It was so peaceful—you could only hear the birds—but still conveniently right across from a grocery store and just about a mile from the beach town. The house was spotless and stocked with everything we could possibly need. Shannon was a terrific host, and we really appreciated her thoughtfulness. We loved fishing right in front of the house, our family game night, the basement bonus-room games, and a couple long walks on the beach. We’re already planning to come back as soon as we can.

We were in town visiting family and this VRBO was great! The home was easy to find, check-in was a breeze and the listing was exactly as advertised. The kitchen was well-stocked, the beds were comfortable, plenty of towels, and the property was clean. We had a handwritten personal note and some chocolates from the host upon arrival, which was a nice touch. This property has plenty of extras too — “in case you forgot” boxes, stocked household items (dish soap, paper towels, laundry soap, etc.), games, pool floats, kayaks, life vests, and much more! We had an issue at the house with a circuit breaker getting tripped. The host answered my text immediately and helped us fix the problem. There are no crazy rules or any cumbersome requirements for check-out. We would 100% stay here again if we were in the area.

This is a lovely property right on the water. It’s quiet and peaceful with a wonderful pool and outdoor space. The local water fowl were fun to watch especially the swans and geese. They arrived every morning and left in the evening. The house has everything you need for an easy vacation. We didn’t find one thing wrong!

This is one of the best places I rented! It is a lovely house and nicely decorated. We felt at home right away. I was looking for peace and quiet which I found but there is also a lot of entertainment and games to spend time with family and friends. I will definitely go back!!

This vacation home was extremely clean and located in a quiet community with a beautiful view. The house was well stocked with comfortable bedrooms and everything we needed for an enjoyable stay. The dock was a great place for relaxing and catching fish. We also enjoyed the gazebo seating. There is lots of comfortable indoor and outdoor space to enjoy. We loved our stay!

This is a well kept beautiful home inside and out. The views are gorgeous, either from the deck or poolside. Lots of bird activity around the water. Well equipped clean kitchen and thought put in to the little things you might need overall. Great place to relax and enjoy the wonderful property. The owner manager Shannon is very available and responsive if needed. Could not recommend this listing more highly!

The home was immaculate. The personal touches throughout were perfect. It had everything you need, including a pool! Shannon was the perfect host! 5 stars!

Shannon communicated with us before our stay and left a phone number in case we needed anything. We didn't--everything was provided for and there were no problems whatsoever. Property was so very inviting and serene! Perfect for a much needed escape from Northern VA. House and property were beautiful and set up to make everything so easy. All we had to do was relax and enjoy! We had lots of fun fishing, crabbing and swimming all right there!

Our vacation this year was positively wonderful!!!! This stunning home and beautiful setting was one of the primary reasons! The home and property were pristine and beautiful! The location of the property is perfect; it is within minutes of stores but once you are at the property you would never know it. Make the turn off of the main road and you are in the 'country' away from any hustle and bustle. The property was lush and green, perfectly manicured and landscaped; the neighboring homes and property's are just as beautiful. Adding to the ambience was a neighboring horse pasture; the area was so serene, beautiful and peaceful! The pool area, gazebo and patio, were exceptional, too! We grilled and ate out by the pool every day. The community of Colonial Beach is quaint and beautiful. Shannon was GREAT!!!

Can I just start with WOW!! Upon arrival, pulling up in the driveway we were greeted by beautiful oyster shells decorated throughout the yard. I've never seen anything like it. Then going into the house, Shannon left me a personalized note with some wonderful chocolate. The house was immaculate and very clean. We all felt like we were at home because it was so cozy and had a home-like atmosphere. Overall it was one if the best vacation homes we've ever seen. We loved everything about our stay at Monroe Creek. The house was extremely clean upon arrival and left nothing to be desired as far as amenities. The pool, air hockey table, and basketball hoop kept the kids busy and everyone enjoyed fishing from the dock. Colonial Beach offered great options for meals and treats, and groceries and bait were very close by as well. We would definitely recommended this rental to families and anyone else looking for a relaxing break.
